Tried this place a few weeks ago and the cabbage was unbelievable! However, I stopped by late Saturday morning, 6 Feb 16 @11:15 am, and the place was dark. Are they still open?

Great BBQ place. Ribs are falling off the bone and are just a perfect flavor. It is not a fancy place but the food is really good. Try smoked cabbage side and their tangy BBQ sauce– yummy.

I got the brisket, cole slaw, and mac n cheese. The brisket was very tender and so good. You can’t go wrong with the cole slaw. The mac n cheese was ok. Great staff.

Great food! Was looking to get something to go for dinner and found this place on Unilocal. It’s on my way home from work, so I gave it a shot. My husband wanted some pulled pork and I wanted ribs. Unfortunately they were all sold out of ribs and it would’ve been a45 min wait. So I got brisket, pulled pork sandwich, Mac n cheese, baked beans, green beans and garlic bread. The portions are huge! Everything was very tasty and I can’t wait to go back for ribs.

I chose this place based on Unilocal reviews and it paid off. The food was fantastic and prices were reasonable. I had plenty left over for lunch the next day. The staff was friendly and attentive. I got the 2 meat plate with pulled pork and brisket with beans and smoked cabbage. The smoked cabbage was new to me and was really tasty. They had a choice of three different sauces and each was so good, I had a hard time choosing! When I’m back in St. Pete, I’ll be sure to stop in again!

I got the brisket & pulled pork with corn bread, beans, and fries. The brisket was unbelievably tender and delicious. I have enter had brisket like that. The pulled pork was really good with the house made BBQ sauces. The service was extra friendly and fast. I am from out of state an debt time I come to visit Florida, I will be begging for the brisket.

The only thing I can add is I was lucky enough to get a piece of Boston Crème cake this time and yes yes yes it’s as good as they say. I tried all three of their BBQ sauces and couldn’t decide they were all that good. Mac n cheese was one of my sides to the sloooooow cooked brisket. It was flavourful and cream. Don’t drive by this is a must stop. Not located in an area you would go looking for a restaurant. This book is definitely better than it’s cover.

I was craving BBQ for lunch and I fired up the Unilocal app and did a search for all barbecue places located around me. Scanning through the list, this was the only location that I didn’t recognize by the name or by the address and its low review count suggested that this might be a new establishment. Personally, I love checking out new places especially when their independent. My Waze app brought me directly to this location after grabbing the address from the Unilocal app as it is not difficult to find located just off of 54th Ave. and Haines Road. You can tell that this location is not a chain based on its quaint sign and ample outdoor seating. The good news is that the outdoor seating is on picnic benches that have large umbrellas over them to keep it cool even though you’re actually situated above pavement. On the day that I dined there it was fortunately nice and breezy. They have indoor dining as well with a «bar stool» seating area and what looked to be tables and chairs. Although this location is open for breakfast lunch and dinner, they do an excellent job of keeping the menu relatively slim which as everyone knows, greatly increases your chances of success concentrating on a smaller menu. When we walked inside and inquired about eating outside cousin the lovely day we were greeted very friendly and were told that we needed to try the smoked cabbage. I posted that I would try anything once which is definitely true and fortunate for me. We were brought out a very small condiment size ramekin filled with the smoked cabbage. To say that I was blown away by the incredible flavor would be a vast understatement. I would venture to say that if you liked onions that were sautéed(such as the kind you might serve on a steak sandwich) you are going to absolutely positively love the smoked sausage. Amazing. I learned that mostly everything on the menu is made in house with a few small exceptions. They have your basic bar appetizers with french fries, tater tots, fried mushrooms that are fresh and not frozen, chicken wings, jalapeño poppers, onion rings and mozzarella sticks all very reasonably priced at under seven dollars even for the wings. They also have a side and house salad as well as a smoked chicken salad also under eight dollars they have a soup of the day which varies(imagine that). Today’s soup was cream of potato. They served assorted Coca-Cola-based soft drinks and they have orange juice, milk and chocolate milk for the kids. They serve a pulled pork, ribs sandwich, and a BLT as well as burgers and hoagies. For something different I was told they have a special take on the Cuban using pulled pork for the«ham» portion. My friend and I both ordered the pulled pork platter ringing in at $ 7.50 it comes with two sides in your choice of garlic bread or cornbread unfortunately both of us opted for the garlic bread but I would’ve liked to of tried to cornbread personally in retrospect. For $ 7.50 this is a huge portion of pulled pork on the plate garlic bread is basically white bread cut in half with garlic and butter. For my two sides I ordered macaroni and cheese and french fries. My friend ordered macaroni and cheese and baked beans. All were quite tasty. Nothing exceptional but tasty. For barbecue sauce we were offered a choice of three. One was described as «spicy», one described as «flavorful» and one described as «regular sweet». For the first time in as long as I can remember all three of these sauces were delicious I had such a difficult time trying to figure out which one I wanted to use I ended up using all three! To be clear, the middle one served in the mustard squeeze bottle was a mustard-based sauce. The spicy one served in basically a ketchup bottle, wasn’t incredibly spicy but it did have a slight bite to it which I found to be flavorful. The regular sauce was basically a molasses base sauce also quite delicious. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive which was quite amazing to me and most welcome. As I stated earlier the pricing is quite nice with drinks ringing in at $ 1.99 for unlimited refills. This means lunch came in at around $ 12 with tip which is for a barbecue place phenomenal especially given the amount of food that you get. Overall I definitely will give this place another shot and try something different like perhaps one of their Philly cheese steaks served with brisket. I was also told that they make the Boston cream cake in-house. It’s not available every day so you’re going to have to ask you had a schedule if you got a hankering for a slice. I almost forgot, the breakfast menu is served until 11:30AM weekdays and all day on Sunday. Based basically serve the regular fare of eggs and pancakes along with various meats. They also seem to have some omelettes and some breakfast sandwiches along with traditional sides like grits and hash browns all pricing looks incredibly reasonable with the most expensive item on the breakfast menu ringing in at $ 6.75 for country

Never have actually had the bbq but the breakfast is great and cheap! The bacon is perfect, biscuits and gravy are excellent, also the hash browns are never disappointing either. This isn’t in the best section but please don’t judge a book by its cover. The employees are so hard working, great service and super friendly.

I don’t know if I would called this real bbq. I ordered the combo meal with brisket and pulled pork with the smoked cabbage and Mac cheese as my sides. The brisket was definitely tender but did not have any smoke flavor and NO smoke ring. The pulled pork was very wet like it was cooked in a crockpot and was very greasy and did not have smoke flavor either. The Mac cheese was very pastey and lacked flavor. I also found it strange to see a lady cutting lemons on the counter with just a napkin underneath, not very sanitary.

He smokes the ribs for at least 5 hours and the brisket for 16. He will even do wild boar upon request. A lucky find in an area without many choices.

Our second time being back and we had a terrific meal and were treated so nicely by the staff. Bristle is my favorite and the ribs steal the show for my wife. A big bowl of smoked cabbage is a must try and you will never go wrong with the mashed potatoes(make sure to get a side of au jus.) We eat out a great deal and enjoy all types of quinine so take it from us — this restaurant needs to become a regular stop for you and your family

This place is right by our house. It’s in a terrible location for a restaurant, not much drive by traffic really and surrounded by a lot of poor people who probably don’t have the luxury of eating out much. The owners and their whole family seem to work their butts off, I hope this place makes it. The food is pretty good, I’ve had better. But if you’re in the area and looking for BBQ, this is a good place to go.

This place is AWESOME!!! Real BBQ available in FL! We have been to the Hipster BBQ place on Central past the Trop, but this place is much better. We had the brisket, ribs, and chicken — even took some home — all excellent. They know that BBQ is the cooking method, not just the sauce! They had 3 sauces, btw. Hot(not too), Sweet, and Mustard — all were great. Get the smoked cabbage — a perfect side! Yummy!
