Old Fashioned Burgers & Ice-Cream

Awesome burgers and fries. Great service. I highly recommend this place. Great prices and friendly service.

This place was awful! We stopped here for an ice cream cone. When we went in the two employees behind the counter were great! They were Helpful and friendly and served us very quickly. Then the owner came in and started screaming and yelling at the girl behind the counter right in front of all the customers! Then, the owners wife came in and she started screaming at her too! It was awful! They were yelling about her customer service at the drive through! I couldn’t imagine treating someone that way! She was humiliated and embarrassed in front of all of the customers she had just served. She had actually just given us great service. These employers were horrible and the ice cream was old and grainy from the freezer. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. It was so uncomfortable and I was hoping the two employees behind the counter would just walk out on that jerk and his mean wife! Can’t even describe how uncomfortable the whole thing was!

Generic frozen meat patty, on a very thick, plain bun… Way too much bread compared to the meat portion, (as the burger was way too bready). Fries were nothing special. They tasted like they were bought from your local grocery store freezer and thrown into an old fryer. Over priced, generic tasting food; don’t let the name fool you. Cute looking restaurant in a great location, but that’s all it has going for it.

Pizza was good, but the dinning room floor and tables aren’t keep clean by the people working there. While I was ordering the girl taking my order walked off into the back. Not sure what that was about, but another working came up and let me finish my order.

Waited 10 minutes for service, place was empty. Lady came out and didn’t even acknowledge us. Don’t waste your time

Wondered into the Blue Bell store on a nice hot August day. It smells amazing because of the home fried burgers. Both my kids were jonesing for some ice cream. My son has allergies and I’m always worried about cross contamination. They totally put my mind to ease when they went and got a whole new tub of mint chocolate chip ice cream. He was very happy and so was I. Great job guys!

I am sorry, but this place was one of the worst places I’ve ever eaten. So much so that my husband and I vowed to never speak of it again.
Skip it and find another place in Salado.

Went there this past 4^th of July, there only had 1 woman working, we ordered 2 half lbs. burger with cheese and bacon and onion rings.
My burger were still raw in the middle and the onion rings were close to burn. That was disappointing since we have always enjoyed this place in the past when we go to Salado. Well, probably not going to go back again.

Well, this one gets the award for the most interesting Unilocal experience on the trip. My wife wanted to swing into Salado on the way home. While she was shopping, I was looking for a place to grab lunch while we were stopped. I ran across this place and saw that they had a Unilocal deal of buy a $ 20 Unilocal coupon and get $ 30 to spend. This was my first Unilocal deal and with just one 5 star review worth a shot. Wahoo!
Or so I thought… The Unilocal deal said that it could be printed or be redeemed direct from the phone. I order, and then present my Unilocal deal. Hmmm… The people working didn’t know anything about that. So, they go get the lady next door at Subway (owned by the same guy) to see if she can help. She didn’t know anything, so she calls the owner. Finally they get a call back and he tells them what to do. Not a huge deal in the end, and now the folks working there know what to do. Just a thought, tell the people working what to do in the event a Unilocal deal is redeemed so that they don’t look silly. They were a bit frustrated, and understandably so.
Now on to the food, it was OK. It is a small griddle, and the burgers were OK. Not the best I have had, but not bad either. The meat appeared fresh and not frozen from what I could tell. Definitely a mark above the fast food offerings of McDonalds and Burger King, but that is about as much legs as they have. They do have hand dipped Blue Bell on hand, and the shakes were OK as well.
For the area, this is probably not a bad pick, but it’s not the best burger ever based on my experience. The people were friendly despite the hiccup with the Unilocal deal. Don’t be afraid of giving them a shot based on this review, it’s a quaint little place.

Best burger ever! The food is great and the service makes you feel welcome.
