Avoid buying from this site! I’m from CA, and I’m not sure if others from here have had zip code issues, but that was the first problem I encountered: the site stated that my zip code was «invalid». It also stated my card was invalid too despite entering all the correct info and triple-​checking it.
Furthermore, after cancelling the order because the site deemed that none of my information was valid, I still got two charges on my credit card and had to call to dispute them as fraud.
I scoured their website for a customer service phone number to call, but found that they will only answer chat or email inquiries, which to me is a huge red flag.
One would think that buying a simple book would be relatively painless. But this fraudulent company hides behind the guise of providing cheap college textbooks to students, and in the end you will probably get scammed. That is completely unacceptable.
I have already told everyone I know to avoid this website. Bookbyte is a contingent of fraudulent, deceitful, caniving hacks who seek to sit behind their computers in an office somewhere and scam college students out of their hard-​earned money.

I bought the Tom Ford book and I thought the service was great! I got the book in new condition and the packaging kept the book in great shape. I had no problems receiving the book on time. I would recommend others to this website.

My daughter ordered a book and paid for expedited shipping (2 days?). The book still hadn’t arrived almost 3 weeks later. I tried to contact Bookbyte and they would not even put me through to a person — everything had to be done over the website. They kept insisting that it was my job to find the book and would not even consider lifting a finger to track the package. I has to take it upon myself to call USPS, was on hold for 40 minutes, and was then told to call the local post office. There I spoke to a USPS employee who told me the package had a completely difference address on it than my daughter had entered onto her order form! Bookbyte did not even accept responsibility for the screw up.

I paid for 3 to 5 day shipping and it has been 14 days. I still don’t have my book. I sent an email this morning. I don’t like the fact they do not have a phone number on their site to contact them.

Amazon is the best… dont buy books from this place.

I wish I would have read the reviews first before I ordered books from them! They are awful!!! I rented two books and one of the books came to me totally apart and bound with multiple rubber bands! What a joke!!!

Earlier this year I was charged for a book by mistake. I’ve never shopped here… However, after calling and speaking to support they quickly corrected the problem.

They claim when they buy back books that it will take a few days after they receive the books to look them over and send a check. $ 430 worth of books of mine they have and the time to get my money turns out to be weeks. Not days. No check yet.

I can’t even begin to explain how horrible this place is. I purchased two items that were listed in «good» and «great» condition. When I went to look up my tracking information, it’s says «tracking number not found.» It’s been almost a week since they said they shipped both books and I don’t live far from this Salem location.
So, I went to use there chat service online that states it’s open M-​F until 5:00pm. It’s currently Tuesday and 3:30pm and they aren’t «available.»
Lastly, I decided to review my order. The condition of my books have been changed to damaged! What is going on with this company. I just want my money back! Lying, cheating, worthless. Oh, and if you «call» their Salem number, it says they don’t do customer service over the phone anymore and to use email or their chat system.
Run far, far away from this company! Use
or something, anything but this dump.
If you choose to give it a shot, good luck. I hope you enjoy being mislead, screwed, and robbed. For some, that’s just another night in Portland, OR., but really, find another place to dump your money.

I will not even dignify this company with a rating, there should be a zero. They are dishonest. I bubble wrapped a new barely used textbook which I was to receive $ 12 for. They said it was in disrepair and a broken binding. I had no recourse and no way to get it back because they say they «recycled» it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

The only thing giving this one star is the prices.
Somehow they «lost» my rental return and now are going to charge me 13 times the price I paid for the rental.
They use FedEx to return, which I’d the worst service in my area.
Not to mention the book I received was barely in acceptable condition. The cover and binding was separating.

Terrible experience. I ordered a book and two days later received an email saying my order was cancelled. No apology, no explanation. No way to leave feedback on the site to register my dissatisfaction. Stay far away from these bozos.

they give you a «quote» which means they’ll actually pay you whatever they feel like paying once your books are in their hands.
be careful with companies who don’t pay you until AFTER you mail them the item

The WORST place to buy books !!! Even if the book is $ 5-​$ 20 more on Amazon Prime, use Amazon. These guys are worst ! I bought a book from them. As usual, you search the book using the title and author of the book. I did. The book that the search results returned was the wrong book. The titles are very similar, I wanted «Principles of Electric Circuits: Electron Flow version, Floyd, 9^th Edition». The Book that the search results gave me was: «Electronic Devices: Electron Flow version, by Floyd, 9^th Edition». I did not pay much heed, as I thought that I must have made a mistake. So, when I realized this, I contacted them. They asked me to return the book AND pay the shipping charges. When I was chatting with the shipping update with their representative «Amanda», she was least bothered. I had repeat everything 3 times!!! I mean WTF!!!
And then here comes the best part. She said that she has to «verify» if I got the wrong book. I asked her how will she do it. And she says that she will «match» the SKU on the book with their records!!! WTF… WTF…WTF!!! This whole time, I was trying to explain to her that the search results gave me the wring book in the first place. How will she match the SKU of the book they don’t have ?
And even better, instead of accepting that their search results were not accurate, she blames the whole thing on me. She said that I should have used ISBN number to search !!! WTF WTF WTF!!! If you guys work only with «ISBN», then just mention it on your stupid website!!! Don’t blame the customers to have had «faith» in your website.
Moreover, she didn’t even take pains to check the USPS website properly. She didn’t read where it said «delivered», and sent me the link to USPS tracking saying that the package «left» only on 7^th !!! I told her to go back to USPS website and «read» with atleast some interest. And she wasn’t even ashamed of not being interested, in fact she was more interested in ending the chat session!!!
I really wish these guys go out of business soon. When I say soon, I mean as soon as I get my money back!!!

I really wish I could give them zero stars. I have always ordered books from them with no problem. This time I decided to rent a book. Wrong move. I got the book and I printed out the return label they sent to me to send it back FedEx ground. I put it in a drop box on July 2. It was due back in the 7^th and you don’t get charged until twenty days after the due date. They are claiming that I used my own shipping label which is false! They are also claiming they have no record of me mailing a book to them. I hate that you have to do everything via email or love chat and when I called the corporate office the receptionist was very rude and less than helpful. Let’s just say she’s really not good at that job. She hung up on me. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and I am disputing this charge with my credit card company! I will NEVER use them again!

Have always had a good experience with them. I like their prices. I will definitely buy and sell my books again.

Bought a book online that was in seemingly good condition (pages looked almost brand new), but pages have been ripped out in one chapter, maybe more. Can’t fully use the book and it’s too late for me to buy another. I absolutely refuse to pay for return shipping (their policy) considering the fact they they sold me damaged goods and caused me some inconvenience. They should cover shipping both ways! Waiting to hear back from them. It has been a few days so it seems unlikely that will respond. Won’t be purchasing from this business again. Would recommend the same to other buyers. Buying/​selling damaged books is a sign of carelessness on their part.
UPDATE: They gave me a refund without me having to return the book.

Terrible sell back experience. Sent books back on the 15^th and they received them on the 19^th. Bookbyte did not paypal the money for 2 weeks after that. They even tried to down grade all the prices to avoid paying what they promised. I would avoid this company in the future even if other services pay less.

Avoid business with these people at all cost. They will scam you and claim they never received the books you sent.

Don’t waste your time ordering from bookbyte. They have no customer service. If you have a question that requires an actual response from a person, forget it because they don’t have any numbers to get in touch with anyone. The chat room they recommend is always closed. If you send them an email regarding your account, they take at least two days to get back in touch with you. The shipping is SSSSLLLLOOOWWWW! It’s not worth the money that I save.

Two of the same book were listed, each in a different color. While the content was the same, I paid more for the more exciting bright colored book. I received the other. Customer service was essentially useless and kept telling me why they wouldn’t exchange it.

I wish I could give negative stars. This company is horrible. I sold them books through the post, and they claimed they never got them. The post office disputes that fact, but what can I do? They stole 200 dollars worth of textbooks from me.
