Watch out Half Penny… Best Monday tacos in town. Corn tortillas, seasoned meat of which is NOT greasy, fresh salsa, fresh romaine lettuce and NOT iceberg lettuce — FANTASTIC! All at a great price. Delicious and the best service!

Just simply everything great about a pub. Met up with an old friend here on a work trip to Salem. There’s several great options in the downtown Salem area, but I’m glad we chose this one. Stellar service, super clean, and a great selection of taps.
The interior is old school cool. A beautiful classic building, and inside they’ve retained the original stone wall which adds to a great atmosphere. It’s narrow and rather small, but they make the most of their space, and from the classy pub décor to the ironwork designs, your atmosphere is complete.
We didn’t try the food here, but I will on m y next visit. I had a couple of nice brews from some of Oregon’s finest and they did not disappoint. I especially appreciated the great service, and the waitress very willing to offer tastes of anything.
Overall, just a fantastic little pub that’s big on quality. I will be back for sure!!!

My new least favorite place. Rude as hell. Barking dogs and homeless teens out front, and aging hipsters everywhere. Blech!

We were having a bit of a date day so we didn’t care about prices when we went in here (we’re both «the cheapest pint you have» types). We both got the memosas for the first round. They were 6.00 each (or there abouts) and came with a skewer of delicious fruit on top. Watermelon, grapes, oranges, etc. The fruit was very good and the presentation made it worth the price. It was served in a larger sized margarita glass. The second round was a shared «Bacon Mary». I’ll try and put a picture up but it was pretty good. A skewer of pickled veggies and bacon.
The drinks were wonderful and the bartenders were both very nice. The atmosphere was bright and welcoming so we were pretty excited about getting food here. It would have been a five star review if it wasn’t for the food.
We both got burgers. I got the standard ¹⁄₃ pounder and my husband got a special burger… I can’t remember the name but it had apples on it. Both burgers had TINY dry patties and mine had some kind of course seasoning on it that was super gritty. It kind of had the texture of sand. I ended up tearing off most of the bun to have some kind of decent ratio between bun and meat. For 8.50 I’m used to getting a bit more oomph in my burger.
His burger had a really good concept. The apples were actually quite good on the burger, but again, very small patty and the ratio between meat and bun/​toppings just wasn’t good. The fries were oddly dry. It kind of looked like both our plates had been siting under the heat lamp for bit.
I guess if they dropped the food prices by about a dollar and sized their burger buns down to the size of the patty it would be ok. But as it stands the value just wasn’t there for me.
Overall, we might go back for drinks, but there is a bar around the corner with «broiler» in the name… so I think we’ll try that one for food before we come back here.

Brown’s is a great place to hang out and have good time. They take care of their customers and have a small but good beer selection. Added bonus is that if it’s hot outside, it cool inside. I highly recommend this place if you want a drink and good food. Steak night is a personal favorite.

Very rude waitress! Had a tattoo very foul mouth, never in my life have I seen a waitress use the Fuck You! To a customer. With so many people looking for work seems easy to find someone who can have a smile on there face and be Thankful for a job. Avoid this person

I’ve been here many times before and had mostly enjoyable experiences until last night we had the older gal with dark hair and rough face and she was sour and rude from the start. We sat outside and waited 15 minutes to even be served and that was after going inside to ask if we can be served to be told they need to tend to there inside customers first?! From that point on she was very rude and had a very bad attitude it was 7pm not like it was late at night and we were drunks. 3 out 7 of the orders were wrong on the food and half the table asked for waters every time she came to table and only 1 got one?! Being in customer service the customer pays your bills you try to make them happy and spending money to a point. We were not being unruly or behaving in a way that warranted such treatment. After several bad encounters with her my friend decided to say something and she took this as an opportunity to put him down and make some really poor in taste comments. The manager came out and instead of trying to remedy situation came down harder on my friend like it is his fault she is so awful at service. If I were him I would fire her and get someone that would get people coming back And not leaving with a sour taste and bad review.

It’s always a pleasure to hang out at this chill spot. Drinks are strong, bartenders are chill but don’t put up with horrible patrons! I love this place!

Good food, great drinks, awesome bartenders! This is one of my favorite places to go to in downtown Salem for a fun evening, or even just to grab a quick bite to eat during lunch. They have consistently good service and a friendly atmosphere.

Great service by the bartenders and it is actually bigger inside than I would have thought when passing it by on the outside.

They always have a great selection of beer’s with the alcohol content listed on a giant chalkboard. If you’re into generic flavorless beers like coors or bud, this is not the place for you. Though they do carry rolling rock on tap, they lean more towards the micro brews. Food specials are always fantastic and are decently priced especially for the portions. They always offer vegetarian friendly options as well. I will keep coming back.

One of my go-​to places when I wanna grab a drink downtown. Bartenders are friendly and I love that they remember your name. Great beer selection. My wife likes the ciders. They have live music on weekends with some great bands. They also have. Huge backroom for pivate events with pinball too.

The black haired server told me to fucking get out of the bar because I questioned her decision not to ID my 22 year old friend, while she ID’d me 26.
2 minutes after I left the bartender told my friend that she will let him stay if he doesn’t say anything because she is worried that the cops will come and he has no ID.
She has a tattoo and was in the bar with another bartender who was a blonde, and she too failed to act with the lowest of decency.
I told her that what if I knew my friend was 20 and you didn’t ID him, she got pissed and told me to fucking shut my mouth, get the fuck out of the bar and almost started hitting me. I have more than 7 of my friends who know this story were there to witness it.
What’s worst is I presented to her ID card and drivers license from my country which had identical information and proved I was 26, she didn’t care to be considerate.
I have never been to a worse place, with terrible customer service, redneck employees and no decency. They pretend to care about the law when it is them who were so inconsiderate and disrespectful.
Never go!!!

Ordinarily I like this place alright. The food is decent, and while it can be a little loud, it has fairly good atmosphere. But I think I will have to quit coming here after our experience last night.
We have repeatedly had rude behavior from one of the bartenders. I don’t know her name, but she’s a middle aged woman with long dark hair. Working Saturday night. We have repeatedly gotten rude attitude and service from her in the past, but last night took the cake. We were out for my boyfriend’s birthday and had had several rounds of drinks. We were in the back room and getting near to leaving, but two of our party were having a pretty serious conversation and one friend was listening on quietly. He was sleepy and not very active, and she assumed he was sleeping. (He was not). Instead of asking him if he was awake, or telling us, the rest of his party, that he couldn’t be sleeping, she VERY loudly banged on the table fora out five seconds, yelling at him that he can’t sleep here. To my friend’s credit he calmly said that he wasn’t. When we called her out on her rudeness, and said she didn’t need to bang on the table like that, she swore at us (using the f word), and told us we were the rude ones. We immediately packed up and left.
That sort of rude behavior, especially swearing at patting, is absolutely intolerable.

Ordered the tempura Chicken with onion rings for lunch one day. The onion rings were good but not great. The chicken, and assorted dipping sauces, were fantastic.
The bartender was also very friendly and welcoming.

Aways a great time at Brown’s Towne. Laid back lounge with full bar, VP and pinball. Great location right downtown. Friendly bartenders.

Nice little bar and the service with good. First thing I told my wife was that it reminded me of a couple bars we had been to in LA.
Would check it out again.

The place seemed nice enough at first. A friend of ours ordered some food and gytheir bacon was burnt to a crisp. When they complained about it to a waitress she simply replied: «well just don’t order anything food from here.»
The lack of service gives this place a 1-​star.

You have to go try their Steak Dip sandwich with fries! Its in such demand. they put it on as their Thursday lunch special! Great service and nice place to bring family or friends for lunch or dinner! Oh and try the Aardvark sauce if you like it spicy! :)
Great micro brews on tap also if you drink beer!
