My family and I LOVE Donatello’s. It’s our favorite pizza place. They frequently have specials on their Facebook so that’s nice too. We took our kids to the arcade a few weeks ago and they had a blast.

It’s a good thing they have the best pizza in town. We have been coming here since they opened, and through multiple remodels and expansion, the only things that have been consistent is their good food and consistently bad service. Once entering this time we were introduced to a 20 minute line just to order the pizza. A server waiting at the end of bar yelled at us «I can help the next person down here». Upon greeting the server we were met with a cold«hi, what can I get for you?». Giving her the order, she attempted to ring us up twice before we were even finished. The process to get the order to the kitchen from the bar seems antiquated and supremely inefficient, and I don’t think I saw a smile on any of the employees. Come to think of it. I don’t think I saw the manager either. Good luck in the future– I hope you can figure it out.

I used to love donatellos, but last 2 times I have ordered from them it has taken well very an hour for our order to arrive. This time it took way to long, and this time it wasn’t even cooked completely. When I called to speak to management, they were to busy to talk to me. How in the world can you run a business that way? I will never or recommend donatellos for any one to eat at again.

My family and I were very excited to try this place. With the diverse food options and games to play, it seemed to be a great time for the whole family. We were told by a friend that the pizza was comparable to Wallery’s and Paddington’s, but were sorely misdirected. The place was dimly lit with a lot of staff doing various jobs. The Game Center seemed promising as it had been cleverly painted with Star Wars, Simpsons, and other various characters. Most of the games seemed to be out of order, with only one skee-ball machine in operation. I’m not sure if the air hockey didn’t work because they were using the wrong puck, the pucks were all sticky, or the air wasn’t strong enough. Either way, air hockey was a huge disappointment. After about fifteen minutes of disappointing games, our food arrived. The pizza tastes as though they pre cooked the crust and sauce earlier in the day, and then added toppings and reheated it for enough time for the top layer of cheese to warm. It was barely warm in between the top layer and the crust, and the sauce was dry. The deep fried pickles were sub-par in flavor but, like the pizza, were barely warm and tasted undercooked. I could have forgiven all of this monstrosity if only to take my ten year old daughter to play games, had it not been for her strawberry milk. She ordered a dairygold bottled strawberry milk for her beverage, and finished it upon returning home. After looking at her bottle I noticed the expiration date of 10/08/2015!!! We were there on the 25th! This is unacceptable, and we will not be returning.

Donatellos has done major improvement since my first visit in 2013. Great food, great delivery, great environment.

This is one of the best pizza places in Salem. Very reasonable prices and great pizza. I have ordered here over 20 times and have never had a problem.

Highly recommend this pizza parlor… BEST Gluten-free crust pizza in all of Salem! Excellent prices and on my last visit they went above and beyond on the customer service! If you live out South… You must try this place!

We ordered the BBQ Pork pizza online, for a large and having it delivered, I was impressed with the price, $ 22.75. Shortly after placing my order, I received an email telling me down to the minute what time my pizza would arrive, and it came even faster than that! The pizza was delicious.

Pizza is good, comes out fast and there is plenty of space for a larger group. HOWEVER, they are remodeling to include a video game area, which is cool for the kids out south… but it will draw a larger crowd and not sure if the seating will be enough. I guess we will see when they open that half. LASTLY I have to mention they have this piped organ and this individual plays it right during the dinner hours. It’s horrible it’s too loud! I couldn’t even hear the person talking next to me. Let alone we were with a big adult group for a nine-year-old’s birthday party(just family no kids) and you couldn’t hear anything anybody else was saying. We asked the player if there was a volume on the organ and he pretty much ignore that question. They have got to do something about that. We will never go back during the hours that the organ is playing if we ever go back. I gave it 2 stars because as I stated above the pizza is good, salad bar is good and the service was quick.

We have never eaten inside the restaurant, so I can’t comment on what that experience is like, but plenty of other reviewers have, which is why we haven’t gone in. We have ordered delivery several times. The pizza is usually good. Not as good as Paddington’s, but the crust is nice and thin and crispy and they have good sauce, if they use enough of it. The problem with Donatello’s is consistency. Every time we order, they seem to forget something. Once it was the 2 liter of root beer we ordered. We called the store and first they said they had no way of getting hold of the delivery guy while he was still out there. Really? I find it hard to believe a 20-year-old guy doesn’t have a cell phone. Then they called back and said the guy would come drop it right off, since he just forgot it in his car. Well, he showed up at like 9:30PM with the bottle of root beer, after we had long since given up and the kids had gone to bed. Weird. The other night I ordered online and chose a pepperoni pizza with olives and fresh mushrooms. We had just gotten home from a long trip, we were starving and tired. The pizza arrived, we got everyone ready and sat down to eat: the pepperoni pizza had no pepperoni and had the thinnest layer of sauce I have ever seen. Luckily, we had some pepperoni slices and a jar of sauce in the fridge that we quickly«fixed» it with. I just feel like we shouldn’t have to fix the pizza. Or call and have them come back to give us the rest of our order. Some other reviews have mentioned them forgetting things. There’s too much competition nearby for Donatello’s to drop the ball like that. And the reports of Donatello’s deleting complaints from their FB page is also troubling. Wouldn’t you want people to see how you respond to your customers and make the situation right? It does not matter how good your pizza is. If the customer service is bad, you won’t make it. I hope Donatello’s can turn it around.

I love the crispy-but-not-too-crispy crust at Donatello’s. The Monday pizza buffet for $ 6.99 is a screamin’ deal — all you can eat pizza(even dessert pizzas) and a nice salad bar. The toppings are obviously top-notch. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with the old pool hall next door that they are now expanding into.

I rate the pizza and cheesy breadsticks at 4 stars. Taste great and ingredients seem fresh. The style reminds me of Walery’s and that’s perfect cause I love that style. The pepperoni is cut small and thick, as well as, the olives too. I love big cut veggies. The service was good the two times I’ve visited. The only thing that prevents me from eating here more is the price. It is a little high for my family to indulge too often. The inside seems like it needs a renovation despite alterations prior to opening. We just grab ours to go and pizza party at home!

We decided to stop in while running errands. I wanted a few pieces of pizza and salad. We opted for the buffet. Great value and very good pizza. The salad bar was fresh and just perfect for a quick meal. I enjoyed the crispy crust and have been searching Salem for just this type of pizza. It appears they are making updates and under some construction which is needed. The pizza was very good so I will be back. I noticed they deliver so I have now found my new go to pizza place!

Usually good, but for a change tried the buffet. Bad choice. Too many pizza sharks to get anything but macaroni topped pizza unless you stand at the buffet all nite. Salad bar destitute as well.

This was our first visit, and our last. The interior of the restaurant looked like it was in the middle of several remodeling projects, leaving the place feeling disorganized and messy. Our pizza was cold and bland. We ordered the chicken and pesto pizza. The chicken was rubbery and the sun dried tomatoes were were rock hard. On a positive note, the service was very friendly. I had heard great things about the place, and will support a local business whenever possible. I feel like they really dropped the ball here, and it is highly unlikely that I will be going back.

Used to be great. But can’t eat there ever again. Ordered a Hawaiian pizza last night and had it delivered. Got it, all was well. Leftovers into the fridge. This morning, the ham is green. No really, green. I will try to post the picture. I signed up for this just for this review. Not normally a rabble-rouser, but this is unacceptable!

Finally! It seems that the owners have turned things around here. They’re answering their phone, making the food correctly, and – get this – they’re now delivering! That last part is what has me re-hooked. Padingtons and Walerys both fail in this department and I HATE that my only delivery options have been chain garbage joints or overpriced and underwhleming Odd Moe’s. I have ordered this pizza four times in the last week. This delivery option is going to be a hugs problem for me :)
