Hope Orthopedics of Oregon

I have been coming here for a few months and have nothing but good things to say about this medical office. The staff members are very helpful, physicians are knowledgeable and don’t rush you through the appointments, and seem to communicate freely. It’s a long drive from Monmouth to come here but I can say this is one of the few doctors offices I enjoy visiting. I absolutely love the new check-​in terminals. Totally awesome. I hate waiting in lines and previously I would show up on-​time for my appointments but if I had to wait in line to get checked in, I would be late. They have several terminals, very intuitive and easy to use. Mega kudos to the directors of Hope Orthopedics in their flawless implementation. My physical therapist is Brett Hensley and he is wonderful, knows his stuff, easy to speak with therefore puts you at ease to more comfortably benefit from therapy. A definite asset for Hope. I’ve also seen Dr. Foglesong… I love his no nonsense approach and PA Tommy Vu’s professionalism and methodical treatment and care. Thank you all for near perfect experiences.

There may be some great physicians there. Unfortunately I didn’t get one. He misdiagnosed me and refused to talk about it because he stated he was the surgeon and he was right. He would not explain. He may have even been diagnosing me based on someone else’s X-​rays. I went somewhere else and was well taken care of in a respectful manner. Be careful. Get a second opinion.

Super great place. Prompt, efficient service at a price I’d call more than fair. More importantly they listened to what I had to say. That allowed for a diagnosis of lower limb discrepancy to be made for the first time in my 35 years. Other doctors p’shawed my believes and substituted their own and were always wrong. Other facilities should take a tip from them and listen to what your patients have to say.
I’ll be going back, guaranteed.

Seem like they might be great but spent more time playing phone tag with these people than anything else. Would like to know if my son needs follow-​up but can’t get anyone on the phone. Left a message letting them know when I can take calls, but no, they can only call when I’m not available. Apparently only the retired or unemployed should be seen here.

I had a Anterior approach hip replacement. (the only way to go in my opinion/​only two precautions post surgery) At 45 and getting a new hip, you want as few precautions as possible.
Dr Coen was my doctor and man this guy is amazing!!! He IS the sharpest tool in the shed, and the garage! He knows his stuff! Very knowledgeable. Doesn’t beat around the bush ether. He tells it like it is. What you need, why, how, what, when and where and with a smile! He saved my bacon. I was having a hard time walking from the pain and lack of mobility. He said I was the third worst hip he’s seen! I had a ton of osteophytes (bone spurs) that he spent a hour removing out of the joint after the replacement. It was a bad bad hip joint.
My pre and post X-​ray were like night and day!!! The difference was amazing. I’m going on 14 months post surgery and I haven’t had one ounce of pain since the second day of surgery when I walked ¾ of a mile using a walker on the nursing floor! I over did it that day. But it felt so good. It’s an absolute miracle in my eyes. I have even played a little basketball since. Running and jumping. Not pushing it, but I’m able to do the same things I used to (with in reason) do, with NO PAIN and much more mobility. I highly recommend Dr Coen and hope orthopedics. Anterior approach is the only way to go with a hip. Posterior approach recovery is way different from what I hear!!!
To finish this review out, I highly recommend Salem Hospital!!! TOP NOTCH STAFF, all the way around. CNAs, nurses, doctors, therapy. Fantastic. Friendly and knowledgable. Got me up the same day of surgery walking and moving. I was out in the morning on the third day because of them. Dr Coen’s assistant saw me one day and he saw me the next day. I felt very well cared for.
The only down side to the entire process was I was scheduled for a year follow up appointment. (Standard X-​ray and face to face with doc)! Insurance did not cover it and they didn’t tell me that previous to the apt. It was 230 bucks out of my pocket. Wasn’t a fan of that bill and lack of being informed. There also was a mix up twice with billing to my insurance, creating a delay in getting a bill for patient responsibility. That was a little frustrating. Hope ortho was nice about it though and fixed it, while not putting any pressure on me to pay quickly. It all worked out. Hope this review helps someone out!!!

Hope has been the best and most qualified clinic for my health that I’ve ever been to. I’ve seen many doctors, been to many clinics, and been disappointed by them all until Hope.
Their doctors actually care, they actually want to see you get better and not just throw medications at you and say take these. They have managed to get my insurance which has been notorious for not wanting to pay for surgeries, to actually agree to everything that I’ve needed. When one doctor was unable to get a brace for me and I was forced to pay out of pocket $ 140 for a brace, this doctor at Hope was able to get me all the correct chart notes and I got a brace right away.
To top it all off, they have all the required equipment in office for them to find out what’s going on with your body. They are by far the best orthopedics clinic that I’ve been to.

Excellent physicians with a wide array of expertise, education, and experience. They all seem to be very professional, personable and very up to date. I have been very impressed with this group.

I’ve had excellent service every time I’ve had an appointment with little wait time (under 5 minutes in the reception area and in the room). Everyone is extremely nice, friendly and professional and I highly recommend them for service.
Thanks to having such a friendly, caring place to go when you are in pain from an injury or two!

Have never had a bad experience here. Had two hand surgeries, and Dr. Knight was extremely helpful and pleasant, and I never had to wait extreme lengths of time to get in to my appointments.
And the physical therapy was great! Not only was Mark Heeley well experienced, he was very friendly and we always had great conversations while he worked on my hands.
I highly recommend Dr. Knight and Mark Heeley, and Hope Ortho. They have also helped a couple friends with positive results!

I was surprised to read some of these reviews. I have been a patient at Hope for several conditions, X-​rays and a surgery, and my kiddo also had a broken elbow treated/​casted there. We’ve seen 3 – 4 of their doctors. True, it is a large complex, but it is also a one-​stop shop. I have never waited more than five or six minutes for an x-​ray, you can see a doctor whose specialty is often the only body part they work on, you can see the physical therapist in the building (or in Keizer), they even have a blood work lab on site and surgical center down the street from their great location. Most importantly, you can get in quickly, everything is electronically recorded, and the billing has seemed consistently correct and competent. I find them all to be concerned, caring, and taking the extra-​mile as a rule. I’m still only 1 month through a surgery that will take 6 months to fully evaluate, but the care up through this point has been very involved.
Hope was there for me in two separate urgent encounters, the most recent of which I showed up for a PT appointment with a kitchen accident injury, and my PT Susan rounded up Hope’s hand surgeon Dr. Knight to take a look at me while he was there on rotation so I didn’t have to go wait at urgent care. I’ve had nothing but the care one would HOPE for there.

I have been having a very hard time since the 2 surgeries (hip replacements) Dr. Harold Boyd performed on me. I had to have one hip revised, and received no compensation for this. He placed it incorrectly… it was evident on my x ray but no one acknowledged it.
He also left the morning after the 2^nd surgery, before I had even gotten out of bed… and without an orthopedist, doctor or even a nurse practioner to look in on me.
I was put in isolation because of a positive nose test for MRSA which I no doubt got from the previous surgery and stay in Salem hospital.
I was in trouble the day after surgery when I tried to get out of bed, and I knew it.
I was also terribly sick with kidney stones for over a year, from the amount of metal in my body… copious amounts of fluid were defined by the operating surgeon who revised the 2^nd hip 3 years later. The degree of subluxation i was experiencing was also noted as «impressive.»
I had to wait 3 years to be eligible for medicare so i could afford this replacement.
My right hip (the first that he did) has never been full okay… with popping and near subluxation.
And now, I am dealing with more kidney problems… swelling for unknown reasons at this point, and I suspect it is the metal in my body.
God knows how many people have hurt by these metal on metal hips, and without compensation for pain suffering and expense.
Thank God Boyd’s retired and not operating on anyone anymore, but i would seriously re consider any kind of treatment from Hope Orthopedics or Salem Hospital. I can’t believe how i was ignored the week i was there, without one doctor to check in on me!

These folks are crooks! After setting an appointment with me they called back and said I couldn’t be seen without a $ 100 deposit since I lived in McMinnville instead of Salem. Never mind the fact that I leave McMinnville at 7am and don’t get home till after 10. Piss poor policy at best.

I have had knee problems off and on for years due to an accident at a young age. When I was referred here from my PCP, I was not excited. I don’t really dig doctor-​conglomerates, as it’s so impersonal.
When I showed up for service my suspicions were confirmed. Nine million doctors and a ton of desk clerks pushing papers.
I was pleasantly surprised, however, by the technology being used here. X-​Rays are faster and more precise.
I was not (pleasantly) surprised by the normal wait times associated with doctor-​conglomerates. I kept getting shuffled from room to room to wait for one doctor after another. Gosh!
Don’t expect discount prices here. You better have insurance, and it better be good!

I’ve never had a worse experience with a medical company. I’m generally very understanding when it comes to the medical industry, but this was my exception.
On my first appointment, I waited for nearly two hours after my scheduled appointment. I saw the doctor for 3 minutes.
It took nearly two weeks to be admitted for my next appointment (and they were running 45 minutes behind for that one too).
Finally, when I called to receive the written version of my MRI results, in order to send them to my physical therapist, they ran me through the ringer. It’s now been 3 weeks and I haven’t received them.
Today, on the day of my PT appointment I finally expressed my frustration with the medical records employee, where she proceeded to tell me, «I’m soooooorry, but we have a lot of medical records coming through here and only like one person working on it. It takes a while.»
