Jamie is really confident, which is great, but it also discouraged me to speak up and didn’t make me feel relaxed. She used thinners on my whole head (I have a pixie cut) and it HURT! But she acted like she had all the knowledge in the world so I stayed quiet. She was rough the last time I got my hair cut too. It looked good for the first few days but now i have to go get it cut again because she actually didnt take off that much length. Got my hair cut twice by her, don’t think I’ll go back, especially for the steeper price.

went here awhile back and got my hair done an ombré and i loved it. kept it for awhile and wanted to go to a light brown but instead the owner turned my hair green and actually colored my hair a close to black color that i wasn’t interested in and got charged $ 120 for something i didn’t want i wish i would’ve known and kept my ombré that i actually really enjoyed and didn’t ruin my hair by coloring it so much.

I lucked out and got an appointment for the same day. The first thing I appreciated were the colors of the place — turquoise and browns/​bronzes — nice. I was offered something to drink and there were various places around the spacious shop where I could have chosen to perch while I briefly waited. I was entrusting my very long hair that I hadn’t let anyone touch in quite awhile (other than microtrims) to a stranger. I lucked out again by getting Jamie, who also has long hair. I felt like I would be in good hands, and it turns out I was. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted or needed; I thought maybe bangs but she told me why that wasn’t the best idea, and she was right. She then very competently and confidently went to work and now I have a (still long) do that feels great and looks great. Yay! I found a new home for my hair!

Pros:
The salon is very cute and the staff is pleasant.
Cons:
I called and asked specifically for an appointment with someone that «really knows how to do color.» That is definitely NOT what I got.
My appointment was at 10am. The owner showed around 10:05am and unlocked the salon, which was supposed to be open at 9am according to the other stylists that were waiting outside in the rain. Once we were inside the owner told my stylist to go make coffee.
Once I was finally seated I explained what I wanted.
— I said I wanted a two color weave with caramel colored highlights and slightly darker low-​lights.
— I very specifically said more than once that I did not want light or yellow blonde highlights. I pointed to the blonde in my hair and said it was too light.
— I said multiple times that I did not want to have to have a toner or all over color put on my hair after the weave. That I I did not want there to be a grow-​out line due to there having to be an all over color or toner, and that the double color processing completely fries my curly hair.
— I said that my hair lifts very quickly and easily and again, I did not want light blond bits in my hair. I explained that on a woman my age light blonde bits in darker hair read as gray.
What I got was platinum blonde highlights. When my stylist started removing the foils she said, «Your hair lifts really quickly.» I said, «That’s what I said.»
She also put color on every single hair on my head — blonde in the foils and dark on all hair between. Since what I had at the point was already an all over color, but with platinum streaks, I explained that since the blond was too light, and since she had put color on everywhere and I would have a grow out line anyway, could she go ahead and do a toner. She rinsed out the color she used for a weave and said to me rather angrily, «The darker color will make the blonde look darker.» Um, no — tiny bits of very light colored hair in with dark looks like grey on a 50-​year old woman. She then used a permanent all over color.
I was then charged extra for the additional color she used. Nice, huh?

The rest of the stylists are also friendly and fun!
The salon offers top of the line product brands and I really appreciate having access to them and recommendations based on my needs.
The environment is clean, comfortable, and cute!
Bottom line, I always enjoy getting my haircut here! & you shouldn’t hesitate to book your next haircut here! :)

OMG Jamie is so amazing: o) I went in to her to get my hair done. I wanted a change I let her do what ever she wanted as long as she kept the length «BAM» she did the most amazing Job on my hair I love it!!! I would recommend her to all my family and friends She is amazing! :o) Thanks Jamie!

Thanks fellow Unilocalers for the great recommendation. This salon lived up to the reviews. The stylist was very helpful at explaining my options for my highlight touch/​blending. Then she gave me a great angled Bob and showed me some styling options. The cut and color are amazing and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. The cost was very reasonable especially for the quality of the work.

I finally decided to get my hair cut after nearly 7 years. Having gone so long with out a serious hair cut I was in need of a stylist.
Taking to Unilocal and reading the reviews for JB Salon I decided to take a leap and make an appointment.
I called a little before 9 AM when they opened and was lucky enough to get a same day appointment on a Friday afternoon with Christa.
When I walked in, the salon had a very cute and trendy vibe to it. All the salon chairs were full, but I was greeted immediately and even offered coffee, tea, ect.
Christa invited me to take a seat in her chair and asked me what I had in mind for my hair cut. I showed her a few different pictures on my phone in hopes of giving her an idea of what I wanted.
Being nervous about such a big change Christa assured me that everything would turn out great.
My hair was shampooed, and we had friendly chatter while she cut. She checked in often with what I was thinking (lengthy checking, how short I wanted my layers, bangs ect.) I felt completely comfortable with the process and the direction she was going with my style.
After about 40 minutes I had a new cut, and she even styled my hair as well. I am in absolute love with my new hair and I thank Christa for it and would reccommend her to anyone!
The hair cut was $ 40, Im not sure if this is a flat rate, or how the pricing goes but it was well worth it, for the great new style I now have. I would have gladly paid more too for as great as I look now!

I have to say, this placed lived up to it’s Unilocal reputation!
Tracy cut and colored my hair and it turned out great. I am pretty safe and boring with my hair: long blond locks parted on the side with some bangs. You would think that my happiness could be easily achieved but I can honestly say that I have left a couple salons feeling instantly disappointed. In fact, I have been HATING my hair for four months because of a very disappointing appointment in Portland.
I really liked Tracy and I love my hair! I have been bouncing around for a little while and I think I have finally found my new stylist. You can’t imagine how good this feels!
If I could only change one thing, I think it would be putting prices on the website. This makes it so much easier! Even if it says «starting at…» it’s just reassuring. It turned out not to be overpriced so I left feeling satisfied but I literally had no idea what it would be when I walked up to pay!

Jamie stayed open late for me, and gave me such a great experience. She was so easy to talk to, and I could tell how incredibly passionate she is about what she does and the product she sells. She did a great job of cutting my hair, even with my somewhat vague description of what I wanted. The salon was clean and decorated really cute, and I enjoyed a glass of pink moscato in the chair! AND to top it off, she sent me home with a dozen (DELICIOUS) eggs from her very own chickens that she raises in her backyard – is this real life?!

I came here the first time after my husband bought me a coupon deal to get a haircut on Valentines day. I called to make an appointment and asked who was good at cutting bangs because I am picky when it comes to how my bangs are cut. The lady on the phone recommended Tracy to me and I made my appointment with her. On the day of my appointment, Tracy listened to everything I wanted and cut my hair perfectly! She takes her time and cuts it wet, then she blow dries and styles your hair, and finally dry cut to blend the hair perfectly! I highly recommend Tracy, she’s amazing!!!

I was able to get a «next day» appointment and I was so relieved. My hair was looking aweful! My stylist was Ashley and she was great! I had an idea of what I wanted, explained to her and then let her work her magic. Ashley explained what she was doing, step by step. Going to a new stylist can be nerving at times, but I didn’t feel this way at all. A couple hours later, I left with a great cut and color. I’ve already made my next appointment!

Jamie transformed my dry, over processed hair into a beautiful healthy style — with gorgeous color! I left looking (and feeling) years younger. And now, only 2 hours after my appointment, I’ve already received compliments and folks asking ‘who did your hair?! I love it!’
My favorite part of the experience was that she listened to what was important to me, then took it from there and ‘fixed me up!’ — I couldn’t be more pleased.
I was also spoiled and served a drink and snack while there.
If you have an appointment at JB Salon & Boutique, prepare to be pampered. This is my new favorite salon … I’ve already scheduled my next appointment!

For those of you located in Salem, it is a very convenient location right on the outskirts of downtown as you head out South Salem (I actually drive from Wilsonville, its totally worth it!!!).
I have gone to Ashley for for about 4 – 5 years now for always a cut/​trim and an occasional color or high/​low light. I have ALWAYS been satisfied with the quality of the service as well as the customer service that I have received. Specifically, I recall a appointment where we had experienced with a darker color and my hair did not take it the way it should have and turned out to light (I have fine, but thick hair), Ashley could tell I was not happy with the color (even after we had cut and styled) and she actually redid the entire coloring process on the spot. I got the exact color I wanted, and was so thankful that I did not spend money on something I did not absolutely love.
Ashley consistently takes me at last minute, often booking me even the day before I want to come in… she always makes something work and even has come in on her day off. I really cannot say enough good things about her, and highly recommend you check her out. Trust me, you will have found your «stylist-​for-​life».

I have very fine, short and rather thin hair. I’d had at least 3 or 4 very bad hair cuts in a row from other salons. Jamie really listened to what I told her I didn’t like about the other cuts, and proceeded to give me a great cut, especially in view of what she had to work with.
I definitely feel that under her capable hands and with a bit more time for grow out I will have the exact style I had been hoping for. Finally, I have a great stylist and can stop looking.
She also did some highlights for me and got the color perfect the first time. I will be definitely be back. Also, she is warm and friendly and the shop has a really nice vibe also. Hooray!

Appreciated that the stylist came in on a Saturday just for my haircut. Went the extra mile for me. Would go back again if I need a haircut in Salem.

I called at a busy time and left a message. I got a call back within the hour. I said an evening appointment after work would be ideal for me. I expected that there would be a wait of at least a week, since all the day-​job people have to fight over those times, but Jamie somehow had an opening at 5:45 the next day. That was the perfect time to go in after work and peruse the magazines trying to figure out what I wanted my hair to be doing.
This is where Jamie really wowed me. Because, OK, I really had no idea what I wanted. Things had just gotten to the point that I REALLY, REALLY NEEDED a haircut but didn’t have a vision for the future beyond: Haircut. Needed. Now.
So I said I wanted to do something more adventurous with color. I said I wanted something young and hipstery, but not to look like I was desperately grasping at my early 20s. I wanted something that I could realistically get away with at work. I wanted something that would flatter my coloring and my fattish, squarish face. I said I like texture and intentional messiness.
Jamie totally delivered. I was really impressed with her on-​the-​spot creativity; she took my vague, rambling ideas and came up with something totally original AND fun AND easy for me to duplicate at home. The color is amazing. It ranges from almost blue-​black at the bottom all the way up to a dark, angry, emo red on top. And yet, despite the fact that this color doesn’t occur in nature, it looks totally natural on me. Like I was born with it. The tones are PERFECT. Jamie has an amazing eye for color.
And the cut. Ye gods, what a haircut. Jamie made it really fun and treated the whole experience like a What Not To Wear makeover, even turning me away from the mirror. All I could feel was razoring, and all I could see was big chunks of hair flying.
The result is this short, shaggy look that simultaneously looks like bedhead but has this shape and structure that makes it possible to look tousled and put-​together at the same time. Basically, Jamie is a genius.
Everybody at the salon was really nice. It was like hanging out with sisters or girlfriends. I didn’t feel like I had to make awkward small talk at all, and the place just had a nice energy. Also, it was spotlessly clean and bright in there. The price was right in line with my expectations (cut and color is never cheap, but this was totally reasonable).
I really couldn’t be happier with my experience. I feel incredibly lucky to have found a salon I love on the very first try. If you’re new in town, skip the other places and go straight to JB!
