Really like this place. The manager really seemed committed to her restaurant and making it as optimal a success as it can be. The chocolate milkshake was delicious. About the best I’ve ever had. Wow! The other items were a cheeseburger and fries. The hamburger was good, but the fries left a bit to be desired. They were not cooked completely or uniformly. The other downside was the price: it was $ 10 or 11 for just the burger and fries. Much too expensive. This was too small a test run to adequately rate this restaurant, so I will definitely have to go back. I really want to come thru with a 4-star rating for this place! Some other good points: Plenty of seating inside. Looks like a great place for groups, or a team to eat during an outing, etc. Attentive management. Do not pass up the milkshakes!

It could be better, really the best way to describe this place. Went here for lunch with family. It wasn’t too busy but there was only one waitress on call and, of course, not everything was bused and it took a while to actually order food. And as far as the food goes, really could’ve used some improvement. I’d ordered a salad. There was a slip-up with the size I’d ordered(I ordered a half portion, got a full, but waitress was good to address that). But the size wasn’t the issue. Salad was kind of watery, like it’d been washed but no one bothered to throw it in a salad spinner. So I had this pool of water at the bottom of the plate. My brother and grandmother had ordered burgers– which they reported tasted just fine. I did sample a fry off one of their plates, which had the texture of styrofoam. The shakes, of course, were fantastic and this is probably the best reason to come in. Rich and creamy, lot of flavor. I’d honestly come back just for the shake. I don’t know if it was just a bad day or what but I’m really hoping they pull it together. Because this is one of those local places I’d really love to love a little better.

I only went in once and won’t be going back. While the fries and food were quite good for the price point I could not get over the amount of FLIES in this establishment! They had fly strips hanging all over the place. Not sure how they pass health inspection?! I’d chose fast food over this joint anytime… just plain DIRTY!

Food is great but they need tougher management. The place is pretty gross, it needs a deep cleaning head to toe. The waitresses are nice but they need help. We walked in to eat breakfast and were told to take a seat anywhere. As we walked around we realized that out of the 7 tables that were empty to choose from, only one had been bused. We sat and waited quite a while before our drinks were served. We watched as others came in and had the same problem… Finding a seat somewhere when all the tables were unbused. We come here often for the great good, but it’s at the point that we aren’t sure if we will be back again unless this place gets a manager overhaul. Eu need someone that takes pride in this place. Keep it clean!!! And at last attempt to bus the tables. 7 unbused tables is outrageous when they only have about 14 tables total

Grody 50s themed diner that may have had it’s heyday in the 90s but has passed it’s prime now. almost as much nostalgia as grease. Service was cheerful but slow. Menu claiming breakfast all day was false advertising and disappointed our crew. Sliced Apple on kids meal was crunchy and sweet.

For a burger place this is a great one in Salem. There is so much meat on the double it’s ridiculous! Their baked potatoes are huge and a meal unto themselves. The root beer floats are giant and served in a monstrous frosty mug with an abundance of ice cream delicately balanced on the edge and filled to the top with Barq’s root beer. The servers are super nice. and if you are dining with children they get a free ice cream upon completion of their meal. The only downside is that this location doesn’t have air conditioning and in the summer it’s an oven inside.

The food is great. Chicken strips, burgers, fries, etc. typically grease put food, but it’s actually good. I went to one of these places in south Salem. It was good enough to try them again at a different location. I can say both time the place was empty, so I had the full attention of the wait staff. My food came quick and I got great service. I would say this location is pretty clean and sanitary. The overall ambiance is pretty good as this location isn’t cluttered with 50’s/60’s memorabilia. If you have a craving for chicken fingers, corvettes, and Elvis the. Check this place out.

We had a great breakfast here. Big portions and terrific service. I checked Unilocal before we ate and I was a little hesitant because the reviews weren’t great-So I really want to throw my 2 cents in-TOTALLY would come here again… We brought our girls 15&7 and they loved the décor… It was such a great meal I hope others give it a try and see for themselves!

We go here occasionally and the food is ok, décor is 50’s oriented but the place needs a good deep cleaning. Their loaded baked potato and burgers are the only thing we order. The fries however are always soggy and almost cold. It’s better than Denny’s I still have never ever figured out why his burgers win best in town?

Two strikes your out! Worst food around. Tried two different location, both are a waste of money and very disappointing. Not only the food was bad, but they charge you for everything. Extra mayo. $.50. Cheese.$.69. Onion rings(four of them) instead of fries. $ 2.99. A total of $ 24 for two bugers. What a rip off. Waitress was nice but did not tell us about extra charges. Never been charged for added mayo or cheese anywhere else we eaten. Very surprised they didn’t charge us for the glass of water we had! Wish I could have given them minus five stars! Save your money and eat else where. They suck!

YUM! I’m in town visiting family and staying about a block away at the Red Lion. I was looking for something light and tasty, also a quick walk from the hotel. Soooo glad I found this place! Service was super friendly. They offered me water while I waited for my to-go order, I declined. I ordered the fish n chips. I putted around while I waited, they have a fun collection of memorability, appropriate for a 50’s style drive-in. I was extremely impressed that my food came out in less than 10 minutes and did NOT taste like«fast food». Had fun while I waited too. The fish was amazing, just the right amount of breading, the chips were crinkle-cut fries, also very fresh. There were a couple of options for the chips, the«breaded» ones were noted as a favorite, but I like thicker fries. It also came with some VERY good coleslaw that had a little bit of horseradish(I think) spice, not too much, but the perfect amount. My to-go bag was perfectly equipped with ketchup, tartar sauce, salt, napkins, lemon slices, and a fork. I absolutely will be back — probably, tomorrow! I have zero complaints.

When we lived in Salem, we visited this diner quite often. But since moving to Hillsboro, it is a hit’n miss for when we can make it to this restaurant while travelling through Salem. This Sunday we stopped by on our way home from Bend. This was a much anticipated visit, but afterwards we had regrets. I don’t remember the restaraunt ever being so hot. There wasn’t any air conditioning and nothing to block the sun(like curtains). There were fans, but not pointed at the booth, so there wasn’t any relief from the heat. It wasn’t easy to eat under those circumstances. When we left, our car that was sitting in direct sunlight was actually cooler than the diner. Another observation: Right after our dinner was brought to us, I saw the girl that served us, go out the front door to a blue/silver van. She picked up a toddler that was naked and walked around holding him and smoking a cigarette. She was out there for about 20 minutes, and for most of the time she had her hand on this kid’s naked bottom. My wife and I lost our apetite’s and could not finish our meal. Our kids had their backs to the window, so they didn’t see what we did. To be fair, I’m hopeful that this girl washed her hands before serving anymore food, but I can’t be certain. Her display, even though that she was probably on her own time, should not have been in view of other customers. This experience has shown how this restaraunt does not have the same character that it had when we frequented it before we moved.

The waiter was wonderful. The eggs were good, the bacon delicious. The pancakes looked like they came out of a magazine. But that is it pretty to look at, however I believe they were remade and reheated, they were so tuff you could hardly cut them with your fork. Taste was greasy, my dogs could play Frisbee for days with them.

Service was great, no issue there. It is decorated in nostalgia 50s décor. The place is dirty and old. It took almost an hour get our food which is just basic diner eats. My biggest issue is the racist«nostalgic» «art» they have hanging near the ceiling, visible to only a few booths. Obviously based on how obscured it is placed, they know on some level it is offensive … This makes it even more offensive to me that they knowingly still made the choice to display it. It is totally offensive and unacceptable in this day and age. It made my family very uncomfortable and it is the sole reason for the one star. We won’t be back.

Horrible service! Dirty place. My fiancé and I like to travle and we like to try new places to eat. we had eatin at both Elmer’s and the Sassy Onion, two great places for breakfast or lunch, and figuring we were two for two on great places we thought we would try rock n rogers… looked nostalgic, and like a dinner worth trying. We were wrong. place was empty, but we just figured it was 2pm and we’d just missed the lunch rush. The staff, all three of them, standing idle except for the hostess in grossed In a phone call just starred at us near the wait to be seated sign… we waited for a few long uncomfortable moments as they all came out and took turns looking at us, and then returning to doing nothing without so much as a hello or she’ll be right with you or one moment please. we left never having never tried the food.

Terrible servers and the service is way too slow. The guy serving simple shouldn’t be in a service oriented job he doesn’t have a good temperament for it. Overall bad experience.

Visited this place for lunch yesterday with my roommate and I’ll give it at least one more try. The décor is outdated but in a kitchy way a 50’s diner should be. There are some cool signs on the wall with the original prices for the 1957 Bel Air, and old newspapers underneath the glass on the tables. I like it, but it certainly doesn’t scream«fine dining.» The service was good and our food came promptly. The milk shakes are big enough to split between two people-we split the strawberry and it was amazing. I ordered the battered specialty fries and they were delish-I had them add cajun seasoning for extra flavor. My roommate had the onion rings on the side and they were tasty but enormous. They are heavily battered and pretty hearty to eat with a burger, but they are huge slices(you get 4 big ones) so they are hard to share. Make sure to ask for mayo and mustard etc. because otherwise your burger will come naked. Ranch was an extra .50 and we left there spending $ 38 between the two of us for 2 burgers and a shake. It is spendy, but really my main complaint is that my burger was flavorless and way overcooked. She didn’t ask how we wanted our burgers cooked when she took our order-I should have seen this as a warning sign. It wasn’t inedible, but it was chewy. The other half of the burger is still sitting in my fridge and I’m not excited about eating it because of how well done it was. Maybe it was an off day for the cook– I will give this place one more go before I jump ship completely, but at this point an All-the-Way Five Guys works for me.

The car outside drew us in! I ordered the halibut burger, one of the specials of the day. It was good even though I was skeptical that it was really halibut. One of the complaints about the place that I read about in Unilocal was the dirty floor. Indeed, it wasn’t perfectly clean, but it wasn’t grimy dirty, either. The inside décor of the restaurant could use a little improvement. It looks as if the stuff on the wall had really been there since the 1950’s. Our server, Alessia, was a sweet girl who worked the afternoon shift. She was very helpful, especially when my wife ordered the avocado burger and it didn’t have any avocado in it. She responded immediately with a plateful of sliced avocado. If I were a local, I’d go back. One of the customers today was actually a regular, judging by the way he and Alessia were talking.

We were rescuing a new«hot» dog from a shelter in Salem, to add to our family, so Mrs. Burgerdogboy suggested I «rescue» a burger on the way home to add to my waistline. Point taken, mission accomplished. I’d been to Rock N Rogers once before, and for this old guy, RNR fits the bill for old timey diner. I went with the«International» burger, so named because it is two type of cheeses, cheddar and the«international» Swiss. I opted to upgrade the side to an order of O-Rings. You’ll read in other reviews that service can be a little pokey and the prices are a little spendy. Right on both cases, but neither drawback contributed to my enjoyment of the hand-made patty cooked and dressed to my order, as well as the over-sized crispy rings. A new dog, and a great burger. A fine day all around.
