History

Established in 1958.

Robert I. Lappin, owner of Shetland Park, purchased this property in 1958 and has leased space for industrial and warehousing companies to eventually convert some of its industrial space into office space, taking advantage of the wonderful harbor views that were appearing due to the development of Pickering Wharf. Development and upgrading of the buildings continued and the property has also become a thriving business for Light Manufacturing & R&D and eventually for our Small Business Center, and Rent-​A-​Desk which opens in August.

In 2008, Shetland Properties, a Robert I. Lappin family enterprise, celebrated its 50th anniversary of successfully owning and managing Shetland Park, which is among the nation’s most financially solid companies. Shetland Park can accommodate any need for space including Shetland Park Self-​Storage which is Salem’s newest state-​of-​the-​art self-​storage facility.
