Elegant Affair

When I first met Christina and her team, I was really excited to have them on board for our wedding. We booked through Wedgewood Carmel, and Elegant Affair was their vendor for linens and floral. Our meeting went great and I was so pleased with everything that we had picked out for our big day… beautiful table linens, simple but stunning centerpieces, and gorgeous bouquets for myself and the bridal party. The staff was great at responding to emails quickly and making changes to the floral order with ease. However, I was disappointed with a few things in the end.
The linens that we chose for our guest tables were champagne gold with a sheer patterned champagne gold overlay. At our appointment we gave an estimated head/​table count of 18 tables, and that was printed on our estimate sheet for Wedgewood. 4 days before my wedding, I received a call from Elegant Affair telling me that they didn’t have enough of the overlays to do all of the tables. They put together a few different options, took pictures, and emailed them to me to choose something new. 4 days before my wedding. While that was appreciated, I was frustrated with the fact that they knew how many they would possibly need, and there we were the week of my wedding having to change plans. They never notified Wedgewood of the problem and I feel that communication heavily lacked there. I had to deal with all of the run around during an already stressful time. At the end of the day we went with an ivory overlay and it looked nice, but it wasn’t what we had planned.
Also, we ordered a «wand bouquet» for my nine year old step daughter. we were so excited about it and thought it would be something that she would absolutely love. It wasn’t until I was in the office at Wedgewood hiding before my ceremony that we discovered they never made her a wand bouquet. They made something that looked like our toss bouquet. At least she had flowers, but it was NOT what we ordered and were expecting. Nothing was ever communicated to me in regards to changing the flowers for her. We were really disappointed about it.
Overall, the centerpieces and gazebo décor looked great, and it ended up being a beautiful night. But we were disappointed with the linen issue and floral mix-​up.

Elegant Affairs had a wonderful person who assisted us at the consultation, Chardonnay. She knew exactly what we wanted. she was very courteous and helpful. Then about 1 month before the wedding I called to verified they received something I sent and Kayla was now the contact person. She had an attitude the first time I spoke to her and I ignored it. After that she called saying she did not receive the flameless candles but I sent her a copy of the confirmation of receipt she kept saying they did not received it and that she was on her way out so she couldn’t help me then but she would call first thing in the morning to give me an a update. Since I did not receive a call, and this was 2 days before the wedding I called at noon. Kayla apparently was the only person there and she said «if I have not call you is because I have not checked obviously «. I thought that was extremely rude specially when we are paying elegant Affairs for a service. I called again and asked for the manager or owner, to give a complaint about Kayla and she said she was the only one there and that the owner was not available, she asked who I was and after that she became polite, but then one more thing happened. She said that the linen they ordered was terrible and that they had to change what we already agreed on for the tables.(2 days before the wedding). I asked her to sent a picture of what she was going to replace it with and it was terrible and ugly and nothing that I wanted. After her attitude and this incident I was not happy so I called Wedgewood, my venue and Coordinator, and Jenevieve immediately gave me alternatives. I called elegant Affairs ans she said she did not know about the alternative Wedgewood gave me. I called Jenevieve again and the Elegant Affairs /​Kayla sent me more alternatives. She never apologized. The day Of the wedding, flowers were delivered 5 hours before the wedding. Flowers were falling apart, and dying already by 2 PM ceremony was at 5. Bridesmaids bouquet and my bouquet were wrong. Bridesmaids bouquet were blue and at the consultation I said I wanted them white and Chardonnay suggested a touch of Blue to match my colors, but they brought blue flowers. They looked tacky and cheap. I called emailed both Wedgewood and elegant Affairs. The last one emailed me back and said they will make new Bridesmaids bouquets. They were better but no what I wanted. The excuse WAs tha she was not the person that did the consultation so she went off the notes. Elegant Affairs should have called and verified the order since the person that did the consultation was no longer available. Very disappointed with their customer service and lack of professionals.

Christina and her staff helped my Wedding vision come true. I truly appreciated their creativity, as well as their flexibility in helping me create our perfect wedding reception all while staying in our budget. What I loved the most, is that although they were professionals, they allowed me to run the show when I wanted to. For those brides out there that love to plan events, a bit Type A, and want to get your own creative juices flowing, these ladies are a perfect complement to your own style. On the other hand, if you want them to run with it, they will no doubt do an amazing job. Thanks again for everything ladies!!!

Unbelievable is all I can say! We were just married on October 10^th and Christina and staff took care of our wedding at Rancho Canada. The center pieces and floral arrangements were gorgeous. Although we used Elegant Affair’s services for our wedding with Wedgewood, I would strongly recommend them for any formal event. With flowers, chairs, paper lanterns, and a seemingly unlimited supply of other items, I feel confident that Christina and her crew can put something together that matches your vision. One of the most helpful aspects of us was Christina’s ability to envision a look that would match something we liked. With relatively little input from my wife and I, the EA staff somehow put together the perfect reception. They were also flexible in setting up more personal decorations that we provided ourselves. The location is only 20 minutes or so from Monterey/​Carmel and I advise swinging by so you can see in person how the final decoration may look.

Christina and the Elegant Affair team did the floral and décor for our wedding on 9÷6÷2014. Throughout the entire stressful wedding process, they stood above our other vendors for making the process feel really easy. Our planning process was a long one (nearly a year and a half), and we met with Christina very early on. But after one meeting, we had very few times we needed to touch base again (a few check-​ins here and there, and some emails, but that was really it). We felt great about how they understood our vision for the day and their plans to execute it. And they did execute it flawlessly! I wish I had pictures to post, but their work was amazing! In fact, I really felt they went above and beyond to carry out our vision with little details I had never even thought of. Our bouquets and boutonnieres were gorgeous. They made us our table runners to match our navy and white striped theme, and they were done amazingly. And our centerpieces were gorgeous. I can’t say enough for what they did for us, and once I have my photos from my photographer, I will try to post. We did not put a huge emphasis on our décor where our wedding budget was concerned, but for what I have been told by my wedding coordinator was a very very reasonable price, everything they provided looked expensive and wonderful. I also just have to say that Christina was incredibly valuable at making suggestions to us for other vendors as well. She really knows the business in the Monterey area, and her expertise is obvious. We are so thankful to everyone we worked with at Elegant Affair for truly carrying out our vision and helping to make our day so wonderful!

Very helpful with picking out what would look good for the venue. The floral arrangements came out great. I just wish I would have known if guests could have taken home the flowers before most of them left. I can not comment on the bouquets.

A week and a half before my wedding I had to contact someone because I had not been told yet if they were able to get the flowers I needed for my wedding. The day of my wedding, my bouquets were delivered to my hotel room and I was less than impressed with mine. I had asked for anemones, and was told they were fragile flowers and they’d need to use some filler flowers for it. Fine, not a problem. What I did not expect to see was only about 4 or 5 anemones in the entire bouquet. I also said I wanted no greenery in it at all. There were leaves in it. I absolutely hated it, but there was nothing I could do at that point.

We are in the process of planning our August 23, 2014 wedding at Wedgewood. We were always planning on using Elegant Affair for our floral needs after seeing their beautiful work at prior Wedgewood weddings, but after meeting Christina and her wonderful team, we are planning on hiring Elegant Affair to help with our rehearsal dinner night, as well!
Christina sat down with me and went over the details of my wedding décor with me, and it was abundantly clear that she is incredibly knowledgable, creative, and masterful when it comes to all things wedding-​related! Moreover, she is extremely flexible and has been creative and thoughtful about creating our dream wedding in our budget. In our first meeting, she has already used her creativity and vision to brainstorm ways to make gorgeous, tall centerpieces for the same price as smaller, simpler ones! She is so incredibly accommodating and warm, and we cannot wait to work with her further.
We are also extremely excited about working out an arrangement for the Elegant Affair team to help coordinate our beach bonfire rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding. We didn’t think we would be able to afford to make the bonfire anything special, but after talking to Christina about the wedding, we have no doubt that she will help us to make it something amazing and within our budget! I will write another review once we actually do our events with Elegant Affair, but I have no doubt it will be another 5-​star review!
If you need to rent anything for your special event and want to work with an incredibly knowledgable, helpful, and warm team, Elegant Affair truly seems to be the best :)

Wow! Christina and her team did an amazing job for our wedding. I was able to see her team in action since Thursday before the wedding. They worked really hard and on Saturday everything looked beautiful. Christina and Mandy are super nice and they work with all budgets. Hiring Christina was one of our best decisions.

Elegant Affair is amazing! They made the most beautiful flower arrangements for my Wedding at Rancho Canada last Sunday. They really exceeded my expectations and went above and beyond what I ever could have dreamt up. They were able to get me *out of season* peonies that I HAD to have to honor my grandmother through my bouquet!!! The very special bridal bouquet they made me was so beautiful that when I walked in and I saw it, I literally burst into tears. They also were so accommodating with all of our requests. The centerpieces turned out so beautiful! Words can’t express my gratitude and how much I appreciate the love that went into the floral work for my wedding!!! They are truly amazing people!!!

Elegant Affair provided tables, linens, drapery, and related items for our wedding at Hecker Pass. Part of these items were included in the package of our wedding, while we paid for extra details. Our color was deep purple, and everything was lovely! Even though we went ‘simple’, the quality of everything was so high that it looked very elegant and high end when I saw it in person. They have an excellent selection of fabrics. I attached photos to give a sense of how beautiful it was. The planning was easy and hassle-​free. I highly recommend their services!

Tina and staff did our wedding at the Stacked Stone Cellars in Paso Robles in June. Her attention to detail and incredible originality were amazing! She is creative and visionary. Her caterer had everyone wanting more and more. She worked not only hand in hand with us, but with the facility as well. They sing her praises. It is so obvious that she not only enjoys what she does, but was meant to do it. Thank-​you Tina for helping to make it one of the most memorable of days.

Love Love this place. My wedding is in August and i cant wait too see how the brainstorming comes along. Really lovely owner and love how she puts things together!

We needed chairs, an arch and chair covers for our ceremony and reception at Laguna Seca Golf Ranch & Balesteri’s. Christina at Elegant Affairs was recommended to us by our contact at our venue. I am SO glad that she did! Christina’s prices were amazing and although she was just moving into her shop in Salinas, she met with us and helped us choose what rentals would be the best for us. We liked that she had worked at our venue before and knew what size the chairs would be and how the layout and setup was. Everything came together beautifully on our day and we were so happy to see everything put together so well when we arrived at the ceremony site.
I will mention that I can relate to the review below as far as communication. Christina was a hard to get a hold of via email at times, but was fairly responsive once I called and confirmed everything in the weeks before the wedding, even if I did have to remind her of my final count and color choices a few times. I think what probably helped was that they had been to my venue before and knew the process. Still, if you are looking for beautiful rentals in the Monterey area for a good price, definitely give Christina a ring!
