O’Reilly Auto Parts

Another easy FTR (first to review) in the *auto parts store category — surprise… haha! I am not sure why being the FTR is cool but my Unilocal mentor DS seems to think so… so I guess I will go along. :)
I recently reviewed the O’Reilly’s on South Main St in Salinas,… this location is on North Main St. across town. Both stores are very similar, in fact all O’Reilly’s are pretty much the same… kind of like going to your favorite fast food chain in a new hood… you know what to expect. I guess the main difference between stores is the people/​service. Check out my other review for some secret O’Reilly tips that will save you butt-​loads of cash!
Today I was looking to buy a torque wrench for small torque requirements (in-​lb) as opposed to my large (ft-​lb) wrench I already have (in order to reinstall my mustang’s air intake manifold). I was staring at an $ 80 craftsman model at OSH, when I decided to Unilocal this store and give them a call since it was nearby. I asked the guy if they had a torque wrench that would work for 89 in-​lbs. He was courteous and helpful and went and looked for me and told me they did for $ 19.99. I happily left OSH, and headed over to this O’Reilley’s. When I got there I was a bit disappointed to discover that their torque wrench had a functional minimum value of 200 in-​lbs, so it would not work for my specific need. I can’t fault the guy too much because I didn’t really stress the importance that it MUST read 89 in-​lb. Luckily this store was sort of on my way anyway so it was all good! The store was busy today and the staff of 3 seemed to be doing a good job!
YAY ME for the FTR… *scratches head wondering why FTRs are cool. ;)
