Romie Lane Optometric Center

Will not be coming back here! After several referrals from friends of how good they were, I think NOT! First off, we have dual Insurance and normally I can get 2 pairs and pay maximum $ 40 — $ 50 out of pocket at my normal Optician which was Les Moro in Salinas since he is no longer in Salinas I did not know the new Opticians who took over, so I decided to see this offices big fuss, I took both my daughters for annual eye exam, with 2 good Insurances I payed $ 217 for 2 pairs of glasses (Ridiculous!) my other daughter got only 1 pair since they are only for school or reading and we payed $ 37 for hers. The part I DO NOT get is why in the heck do they only carry name brands for kids, we had to choose from Ray Bans, Coach, Oakleys and 2 other name brands, for kids… my daughters are 9 and 5 (one lost her glasses and of course its our fault, not blaming office but I am more upset that I had to pay out of pocket for glasses when I have 2 Insurances both through VSP. Now, I have to spend more money to get her another pair (through another place). We looked at the bill and office exam and glasses they billed out for close to $ 4,000 each kid. Nothing different was done from what we normally get. Nobody sat us and told us what our Insurance covers or what it wouldn’t cover… at Dr. Les Moro’s they do. This office is way over hyped and not to mention only 2 people from the staff were nice, seems like the girl at front desk is snotty not friendly. Doctor was okay but not nothing Special. I will never go back.

Horrible experience. If you have Spectrum vision insurance beware, they do not know what they are doing, no one calls you to explain, and you have to call numerous times to figure out what the deal is with your glasses. They always have an excuse, and never can simply say «I’m sorry»

watch your wallet! they did a scan that cots $ 38 with no conversation, information, or consent about it being extra. When I complained to the front desk about not being told about the extra charges I was told «Did you fill out the paper work when you arrived? It’s on that paper work» I really wouldn’t know if it is or not as I did not get a copy of that paper work and it was about an hour ago that I last saw it. I do not remember seeing anything saying a scan would be done without my consent and that it would cost me extra. So watch your money at this place hard sell tactics!!!

A total rip off. If you have VSP and want a contact lense prescription renewed, it’s $ 140! They have you sign some docs first, then after that you have to pay! Terrible place, out right shameful!

I already have a prescription from my Doctor. I visited this place hoping that I could browse their selection of frames since I could find any that I like at my Doctors office. I walked in and headed to the frames selection only to be stopped by an employee who asked me to checkin at the front counter. So I walked over to the counter and the receptionist started asking me all kinds of questions; name, DOB, address, etc. I said «wait, I’m only here to browse your selection of frames and I’m not sure if I’ll be making a purchase» … it turns out this place wanted all my personal info before allowing me to view their selection of frames.
I have some advice for people that want to only browse their selection of frames … DON’T. You shouldn’t be required to give all your personal info just to do some window shopping.
I also have some advice for the office manager … stop requesting personal info of people that only want to browse the frame selection. If you are interested in getting people’s personal contact info for marketing purposes, then do that after the person has had a chance to see what you have to offer. If you were asking for my personal info because your thought that I might steal something, then that would be just plain racist … just because I’m not white? I couldn’t tell exactly what the purpose is for personal info, but I do know that I just don’t had out my personal info to whoever asks for it. It seems that the office manager, owner or whoever makes the rules needs to take some classes in sales, marketing, and customer service. This place get an «F» for FAIL.

Really like this place it was fast and they have a wide selection. Everyone was helpful and nice no flack given. I really like to try places out by ratings I was not disappointed. The DR. Educating me on my options and not just going for something that I don’t really need. They do keep clean between patients as well. I would recommend for anyone new to the salinas area.

I must admit I was a little apprehensive about coming here as I loved going to Vantage, but I had to switch places since they, unfortunately, do not accept my ‘certain’ type of VSP anymore…
Anyway, I’m soO glad I decided to come here! Everyone was so polite, nice, and friendly! And Dr. Jenelle Bockenstedt was absolutely wonderful!!! I think I may have found my new home for all my optometric needs! Jasper, who helped with ordering my contacts was very helpful & knowledgeable.
I highly recommend this place.

This is the greatest place. I’ve been coming here for more than 20 years & I always get the best from the Dr. & the staff. They are always able to accommodate my changes in schedules if I need it & the wait time is almost none. I would recommend this office to anyone.

Efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. Respectful — and did I say knowledgeable? Yeah, this place is great — and I’ve been going to optometrists since I was 6. Near-​sighted as the day is long.
They don’t try to sell you stuff you don’t want/​need, either.

We have been going to Dr James Flickner for over 30 years. Everyone we have recommended have been more then pleased with the friendly professional service they received. They keep their technology up to date and when his son and daughter in law joined the office, it has gotten even better. Romie Lane Optometric Center is the best anywhere.

I’ve been going to Romie Lane Optometric for 4 years. They’ve always been really good but I’d have to say that their customer service has improved to an excellent level at this time. Everyone I had contact with was skilled, knowledgeable and friendly. I’ve seen all but one of the docs. They are very thorough, highly skilled and place great importance on patient education. I travel from Watsonville because of the high quality of this practice.

I have been seen by both James Flicker and his son Christopher, but usually only see the senior because of his long friendship. However, I can honestly say with sincerity they both do their job with caring love and treat patients like a family member. They are courteous and diligent along with all the staff. I have gone to Romie Lane Optometric for many years and will continue to use their services. If you are in need of Optometric care this is the place to go. I’ve lived in Salinas for over thirty years, and am glad Romie Lane Optometric and the staff are part of the community.

As a long-​time patient of Romie Lane, I can say they keep getting better! Very friendly office staff, efficient, and knowledgeable technicians. The equipment seems to be up-​to-​date and impressive — thorough exams in just a few minutes. The doctors are first-​rate (I saw Dr. Jennell Bockenstedt Flickner). I am new to the area and I was having trouble finding an optometrist. One of my co-​workers suggested Romie Lane Optometric Center. I made my appointment and was able to be seen in about 1 week. I saw Dr James Flickner, he was so nice and made me feel very comfortable. He was very knowledgable and explained everything to me. I strongly recommend Romie Lane Optometric Center.
