Got to Dayton’s at 7:05pm. There were 3 in our party. We each ordered the 4piece fried chicken dinner but we got major backlash from a woman talking in the background who was saying«these people coming in here 20min before closing wanting chicken»! She announced«we only have 4 breasts, &2 wings»! I said we were told you close at 8pm. Someone said«we close at 7:30pm». So I said«no matter what time you close, a GOODRESTAURANTOWNER would take care of the patron’s that came in before the time you close. Our group of 3 really did not appreciate hearing all that banter from that woman, who as we were told was the owners daughter. I’ve never heard such absurd behavior out of a restaurant owner. I got the feeling that I was in the most«rednecked» place in the world. Wow! That attitude sucked! I don’t believe I will ever go there again.

Great place to go for breakfast. They have awesome service especially if you get Pete as your server. Lots of breakfast selection and very reasonable pricing. Coffee is weak, but I personally enjoy a few cups without jumping off the walls. Weekend mornings are pretty busy, so expect a little wait to get a table.

I’m not one to let a dingy restaurant dissuade me from eating there… I love an old greasy spoon breakfast. And don’t let it surprise you, this place could use a good scrub and update. We have been a few times, and seemed to be the youngest people in the joint by two decades each time. The menu is like eating at my grandmother’s house, and I mean that in a good way. It’s comfort food, Eastern Shore style– and I’ve had good soft crab sandwiches and oysters when I’ve ordered them. The prices are reasonable, and the service is adequate.

It looked fantastic but unfortunately it was a packed house and no one could be bothered to seat guests. Looked for a table for a few minutes, got approached by a waiter asking if we were looking for a table. When we said yes he said«Just sit anywhere». No shit.

This amazing diner serves southern style food. Friendly staff, seats late even when closing. Super fast service for the quantity of patrons. Their chicken and dumplings are to die for. So are their creamed chipped beef plates. The greens and stewed tomatoes rock too. Don’t miss! We have lots of large family dinners here.

When ever, I come home I usually stop by Dayton’s. I am especially a fan of their chicken and dumplings, greens, and potato salad. They remind me of my grandmother’s cooking. They also have an awesome shrimp salad with medium size shrimp; and they are not skimpy on the portion size. Lastly, I am a fan of their catfish!!! Now, don’t get me wrong, everything here is not good. I have had the salmon cakes before and they were very dry and tasteless. I decided to try a crab cake here. While the crab cakes have little filler, they are not seasoned at all… ANDTHEYARESMALL. The Windsor Inn, Timbuktu, and G & M have me spoiled with their jumbo lump crab cakes. They also cook beef and dumplings… hated it! Don’t get it… you will be mad at yourself… I sure was mad at myself. So, with this place you can get some great food and some bad food. It’s the luck of the draw.

Dayton’s is definitely a locals place – no yuppies; just good old plain Eastern Shore folks eating good olé Eastern Shore food. The fried chicken can’t be beat in taste & price. Very economical. U do not pay for the ambiance though in a funny way it is here!

If you’re looking for down home cooking, this is the place to go. It had been years since I last went to Dayton’s, so while I was last in Salisbury, Hubs and I stopped in for breakfast. First of all, you will definitely be «the younger generation» if you are younger than 70 years old at this place. There is no real seating pattern, just find an open table and seat yourself(but that’s not posted). The seating is worn and the tables are Formica, but don’t be fooled. The cooking is as homemade as it gets. Scrambled eggs with scrapple? Biscuits and gravy? Yes and yes. However, the food is good, the service is okay(not great, not bad), and the prices are totally reasonable. It’s certainly worth a stop in to get your fix.

I have eaten here at least on 3 separate occasions; all 3 have been great… the very best that I have experienced in Maryland 1. Hotcakes &Sausage(Light, fluffy, large & flavorful) 2. Fried Flounder Sandwich Platter(fresh &tasty) 3. Fried Chicken Platter was phenomenally flavorful, moist, perfectly fried with real mashed potatoes & turnip greens that were to die for. The value cannot be beat as the food is so delicious & the price is so reasonable. I try to get there every time I am visiting in the area.

I love this place. I’ve only ever been here for breakfast but it’s some of the best in town. The menu is simple and downhomey. No crepes or croissants here. What you will get is a carafe full of coffee, plate sized pancakes, mounds of home fries, perfectly cooked bacon, grits, eggs, … You get the picture. All of the entrees are dirt cheap too. I don’t think there is a thing on there over $ 7.95. Come early on a Sunday… it gets jammed packed pretty quick. The service, is beyond 5 star. You ‘ll meet some of the finest folks in all of Salisbury serving up your food. Very courteous, very friendly.

Dayton’s is an economical restaurant. i personally like to eat breakfast here. The Dayton’s special is normally 5.95 and it included coffee. I didn’t see any health conscience breakfast items on the menu if you ware looking to eat fairly health.

I never knew it was«Dayton’s Chicken & Seafood!» In fact, I don’t think I’ve had any meal other than breakfast there. The food is good«down home» cooking, and the service is friendly and fast. The dishes, glasses and flatware don’t always match. It is often quite crowded in the earlier morning — around 7 to 7:30 a.m., but most of the clientèle seems to be working folks so the tables turn over pretty quickly. I wouldn’t hesitate to go there again.
