Specialties
I specialize in keeping the piano or voice student engaged having fun while learning important musical concepts, learning to read music, rhythm, and best possible use of their instrument to reach agreed upon goals. I am very creative in my music teaching which keeps the student focused and motivated to learn resulting in their musical advancement. I have taught ALL my 4 sons piano and some are Professional Musicians now! So keeping the piano lesson and voice lesson relevant makes for positive momentum in the student and faster learning. I welcome the challenge of the piano student who has lost interest in playing because I specialize in reviving their interest to ‘want’ to play the piano again. I specialize in Voice Lessons because I have University Music training in Pedagogy with Degree in Voice. I can listen to any voice and immediately know how to train the students voice to produce a more captivating tone. Students benefit right away with good vocal habits and sing better. It is very satisfying to watch and listen to my piano and voice students improve under my professional music instruction. Lastly, I specialize in sharing my love for the art of music in all genres and developing a trusting relationship with my students that KNOW I am after their best interest as I teach them piano or voice.
History
Established in 1990.
I am a teacher by profession and loved playing the piano and singing. I taught Bi-lingual education so would use music as a way to teaching which the kids loved and learned so much faster. I love music and wanted to teach our own sons piano which I began to do when they were 5 years old. As our 4 sons were enthusiastic to perform their piano pieces they had learned to their friends the result was those friends returned to their parents begging to take piano lessons from me. Those parents were over joyed their children ‘wanted’ to take piano lessons and so immediately called me. That was how I began teaching piano to students other than my own 4 sons. While teaching piano many students asked if I would teach them to sing like me however I didn’t know how to teach voice. Therefore, I took the risk to return to the University again and study Voice. It was the hardest degree I ever earned! I have such respect for the art of Voice. My mentor was Dr. Linda Banister, Voice teacher.
