AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care

Let’s see I paid just over $ 5,000 for a rebuilt transmission in my Acura TL and got a 12 month warranty with that. 16 months later my transmission overheated and fell apart again. Way to time it to fail just after the warranty expired. I won’t ever make the Aamco mistake again.

I was referred to this Aamco by a friend, I just stopped by & ended up leaving my 1995 4runner for a free diagnoses, why the owner happily gave me a ride home. They diagnosed the problem in a few hours, told me it would be $ 450 and had it fixed the next day. Tanner transmission quoted me $ 1,200 & Mark Miller Toyota wanted $ 1,400. Everyone was very friendly & professional, & honest! I’ve waited 3 weeks to post this to make sure it was fixed, & the 4runner drives like its new! I would highly recommend anyone to Aamco at this location! Ask for Mike, you will be impressed, & stress free!

Called asking for an estimate for a very specific repair; replacing rear trailing arm bushings. He wouldn’t give me a price. Told me to bring the car in, it would take about an hour to do an inspection and then they’d give me a price. I told him I was confident in the diagnosis, I just wanted to compare the prices of different shops. He told me he couldn’t do that and good luck finding a shop that will do that for you. Well, AAMCO was the 4^th place I’d called and the other three managed to give me an estimate just fine. I’d never go to a mechanic who can’t be specific about the estimate for a particular job. Poor business sense.

It was a Friday night. I was driving from the bay area all the way to CT, and 650 miles into the first 750, my car seemed to be going downhill and quickly. All signs pointed to a fried transmission, and there were still almost 2,500 miles to go. I. Was. Screwed.
Or so I thought. Not only did I find AAMCO open the next morning (a Saturday), but I was lucky enough to find Cal running the show. Fully expecting to have to ditch my car in SLC and figure out a new way to reach my destination, I was thrilled beyond belief when Cal told me that the transmission looked fine, but there was some engine work I needed to have done as soon as possible… which turned out to be that very same morning. A half hour’s diagnostics, a quick delivery from a nearby parts store, and less than a couple hours worth of labor later I was back on the road.
As honest as the come, as friendly as they come, and as downright good-​people-​helpful as they come, bring your car here. Seriously. Even if you’ve got locations closer to home — or wherever you may find yourself — bring your car to Cal. You’ll be happy you did.
