Evergreen Tree Care

I’ve had Evergreen do thinning and removal work two times now over the last four years. In both cases, Steve’s crew did an excellent job and provided an overview of what they are going to do, how they’ll do it, and then clean up and remove any left over branches, chips etc. Very professional and good follow up. I wish all contractors were like this. Highly recommend their service.

My review is based on the consultation process and not any work actually done on my trees. The company stopped by and solicited my business by offering a free tree consultation. I am usually wary of companies like this (e.g., Anderson windows), but I wanted the advice with four 100+ foot trees on my property. The gentleman who came by was terrific, no-​pressure, and answered all my questions. While we agreed that my trees don’t need any current work, I will definitely consider Evergreen in the future given the low-​pressure and helpful consultation.

After reading some of the other reviews, my experience with Evergreen Tree Care was not remotely the same (luckily). Christopher and crew up in North Seattle were great. He is very knowledgeable, quick to respond (good with communication) and friendly as well. It was fairly easy to get the work scheduled, with only one reschedule where I was given notice days in advance. His crew all showed up on time and communicated throughout the process.
Our massive Diadora tree looks great. I’d recommend Evergreen Tree Care for anyone living in Northwest Seattle/​Shoreline.

Telemarketing calls are as annoying as they are unwelcome. A company this hard up for business must do lousy work that cannot grow from word of mouth referrals.

Same as others stated… guy randomly walks down the driveway and a salesman follows. I sign up to have $ 2K of work done and give them a 10% down payment. Someone calls to schedule the work. I take a day off and get everything ready and wait all day, they are ‘No Shows’ without even a phone call. I decide to do a little research and notice that their head quarters are in Spokane, WA.

and read their reviews. WOW, now I am really worried that they have absconded with my $ 200.00. I called my salesman and told him about the no show. He is sorry and wants to know if I want to reschedule. I negotiate a $ 400.00 discount, he has to call Spokane to clear it.
A woman calls from Spokane and says my discount has been given and we reschedule the work. Workers show up, they are professional, courteous and do a OK job. Time to pay the bill and I get a $ 200. discount, not $ 400. I call the woman in Spokane and she snidely tells me she said my discount was given, she said she did not say how much! After a BIG to do and a lot of stress I get my $ 400. discount. I say not worth it, too much time and effort to try to manage these people even though they do an OK job. Heaven forbid if you have any issues and have to talk to the Spokane office, they are rude and arrogant from my experience and their Unilocal reviews speak to it.

Showed up at my house soliciting for business, despite «no soliciting» sign. Stated «we’re in the area, would you like a no charge consultation?» We’re thinking about some tree work, so I said sure, and scheduled a consultation for the following week.
Fast forward to a couple days later – dinner at our neighbor’s house, where our neighbors stated that Evergreen came over to their house after mine and told these neighbors (our good friends) that *I* had sent Evergreen over to them, since Evergreen was doing work for us. Not true, blatant lie. And these neighbors apparently also had a consultation that turned into a wishy washy high-​pressure sales pitch. Needless to say, I clarified for our neighbors that Evergreen isn’t, wasn’t, and now never will be our arborist. So dishonest. Shame, shame. Consultation cancelled.

This is a review of the estimate process with them and their level of professionalism.
Evergreen did some work on my neighbor’s trees, and left a series of sticky notes on my door for marketing. All of them were written with what I consider to be a fear-​mongering tone, talking about «heavy, massive limbs overhanging the house» and risky situations implying imminent damage and lawsuits. No such situation existed – even remotely.
I called them anyway just to hear them out — maybe I’d missed something. Their representative showed up at the wrong appointment time when I wasn’t home, and left no message. I called him at the appointed time to follow up, and he said he had moved on to another client during my appointed time. I scheduled a second appointment a week later. For that one, he called 15 minutes ahead of the appointment time to inform me that he was at Snoqualmie pass (1+h away) and couldn’t make it, and he could just give me an estimate over the phone.
We spoke on the phone, and the entire marketing pitch was about risk, danger, rot, damage, and included multiple examples of severe damage. He kept insisting on sending me pictures of downed trees. I have no risky situations with my trees – zero. I’ve hired arborists for large evergreen trees before. While these could use some skirting and a little proactive thinning, no dangerous situation exists other than the scary scenarios they dreamed up about storms and widespread catastrophic damage.
I found the marketing heavy-​handed and the customer service completely lacking. They also did not follow up with written estimate as requested or the photos they insisted on sending. After this experience, I do not trust them and will not use them.

They left a full color advertisement on my front door so called them to request their services. A computer answers the phone and insists that I leave a message. So I did. No call back. That’s a one star review from me.
