Postal Services Plus

I have been doing business with Postal Services Plus ever since I moved to San Anselmo 5 years ago and am a strong believer in shopping local. After my experience today with the male owner, I will NEVER use Postal Services Plus again. The owner actually told me to go somewhere else, all while staring me straight in the eye, and refused to ship my Christmas gift to my granddaughter. There is more to the story, but why bother. Read the previous reviews and you will see a pattern of rudeness, inconsistency, and terrible customer service.

RIP OFF! Charges more than 20% more than the post office for stamps. She told me before I paid that she charges a little more than the post office. After I got my stamps, I said and I just wanted to give some gentle feedback that maybe they shouldn’t say «a little more» but maybe «20% more?» She started to amp up and said she would give me my money back, but she does not have to explain herself to me. I agreed that was true and left. I may have taken her up on her offer to buy them back from me, but I didn’t have time to go anywhere else to get stamps. I just don’t like doing business with greedy people. I understand people have to make a profit, but 20+ percent on a sheet of stamps is too much. We will see if the mail I dropped off to be posted ever makes it to its destination. I will not do business with this place again.

As a SA local, I always shop downtown first. Over the past 6 months, I’ve tried three times to get documents notarized without success. I visited during mid-​day normal business hours but each time the notary was out. If they can’t deliver a service consistently, they should not advertise that they do it. Simple.
Three strikes and you’re out as the saying goes. Otherwise, they are 2−3x more expensive on everything else. I just don’t see the point of trying anymore. Try The Copy Shop in San Rafael for professional, attentive service or the UPS Store on 4^th for a Notary. Both are competitive and consistent.

The owner (male) was impatient to the point of being rude. No one else was in the store or he never would have gotten away with his immature behavior. I will never go there again.

I appreciate that they are trying to survive against the big chains, but the service is not very friendly. Efficient, yes. But definitely not welcoming. When you selling a service that is offered at 4 competitors within 4 miles, you’d think they would go the extra mile to sell based upon relationships. Note: this applies to the female at the counter, not the man.

Wonderful, personalized service — I’ve been going to Postal Services Plus for about 30 years and they are ALWAYS better than the post office. Plus they have a notary, who I use regularly. Great parking in the back off of SFD Blvd. Super nice folks.

Were it not for the fact I have utilized various services at Postal Services Plus over the years, I’d give the place 0 – 1 star. I’ve used them to ship something, on occasion, would stop by for a uniquely colored pen, or other office-​type item, and have had various documents notarized. I’d never had any problems, the people were always nice and helpful enough, and before my last trip there, would have given them 4 – 5 stars. However, the experience I had on my last trip there was such that I will never go back.
I came in around 11am on a weekday to find an older man behind the counter. Actually, he was on the phone. I wasn’t in any hurry, so I didn’t mind waiting until he finished his phone call, which did not take long. He did, however, seem a bit put out, but maybe it had been an unpleasant phone call, who knows. Anyway, I show him the document I need notarized and present him with my driver license. He takes one look at it, and tells me in a rather angry tone it is not a valid or legal id. When I tell him it’s legal according to the DMV, he raises his voice and starts yelling that it’s no good, not valid, and he can’t use it. I calmly ask him to please not raise his voice to me, and he screams at me that I’m not listening. I ask him, again, to please not speak to me that way, and he continues to scream very angrily that my id is no good, starts waving his finger at me, and tells me good luck finding someone who’ll notarize my document. At that point, I grab the document and my driver license and begin to walk out. He continues to say something very loudly and angrily, which, in all honesty I did not listen to, but instead told him I would not be spoken to in that manner and walked out. Within 5 minutes I was at another notary. They looked at my license, told me they could not use the po box listed as my address on it, and asked for a street address. I give them said street address, and within a couple of minutes, I’m walking out the door with my document notarized. Evidently, the problem was with the po box on my license, and notaries cannot use a po box in their logs. I understand there are very specific rules notary publics have to follow, or they could be held liable. Had the man at Postal Services Plus taken a moment to say as much, instead of instantly becoming angry, confrontational, and yelling, I would have happily provided a street address for him. As it stands, that’s not what happened, and as I am unwilling to ever deal with that man, again, I won’t be back.
I won’t tell people to avoid the place, since if someone else is behind the counter, there should be no problems. They really are helpful when it comes to shipping items, and have a good selection of things you won’t find many other places. If that man is working, though, you may be better off going to the UPS Store on Miracle Mile, or down to Avatar on the Fairfax/​San Anselmo border.

PSP is awesome! I work just up the street and we send clients here for Notary service. They copy our documents with amazing speed and they always help shipping stuff for the best price. I couldn’t do my job without these ladies!

I had some oddly shaped items to ship, so I went to a FedEx store to see if they had a box that would fit them. They told me I’d have to use a box that was a 2 foot cube, even though my items filled it less than half-​way. Obviously, this was going to be expensive.
I left and went to Postal Services Plus, where they built me a nice sturdy box that fit my stuff, and shipped it via FedEx. I was in and out in under 15 minutes, and the box cost less than $ 5. I’ll definitely come here first if I have other odd shaped packages in the future.

Sure beats going to the crowded post office and waiting in line. You can get everything done here from a notary… to copies… to using a computer for stuff.
