On March 6^th, 2016, my fiancé and I went to Americus diamond. We were quite disappointed. I was very excited to select a setting for my diamond which my fiancé had purchased from a friend. The diamond had originally been purchased from Americus diamond (We presented the original appraisal issued by Americus diamond.) Americus diamond refused to let me choose a new setting and instead was trying to persuade us to purchase a new diamond from them. We asked the sales person what our options were and he was very unhelpful and continued to try to persuade us to purchase a new diamond. We were under the impression the sales person was trying to take advantage of us because we are a young couple. We took are business elsewhere.

If you’re looking for a ring you may enjoy the undivided attention they are giving you, but once you have purchased your ring, expect to wait possibly an hour for maintenance checks and cleaning as others are getting the grand treatment you once did.
BTW Saturdays, you will be waiting for an hour or more.

I wish they had a larger variety in their gem depatment and offered more rose gold jewelry in their selections. Although I did purchase a rose gold wedding set there, there is a very small presence of rose gold jewelry.

My husband and I bought my wedding ring from Americus Diamonds, and initially I was happy with the purchase. It’s a beautiful ring, and we got a fair price on it. But only ONE MONTH after my wedding, one of the stones in the diamond band fell out. When I took it in, they told me that the reason the diamond fell out was because I had been wearing the ring next to my engagement ring, and that basically it was my fault that it happened. Well, OBVIOUSLY I was wearing the ring on the same finger as my engagement ring! It’s a wedding ring, where else would I wear it?! They said that they would fix it, but that we would have to sign a waiver saying that the repair isn’t guaranteed, and if it happens again, that they aren’t responsible for any repairs. Mind you, this ring was only a month old when this happened. If this had happened after a year or two, I would have been more understanding, but for the ring to be falling apart after I’ve only worn it for 38 days seriously calls into question the quality of their product in general. It was bad enough that the stone fell out in the first place, but instead of being nice about it and just repairing it, they gave us the runaround and tried to say it was our fault. Clearly, if the ring is falling apart after 38 days, it’s defective and they should have just fixed it. The bottom line is that just because they tell you their jewelry has a warranty doesn’t mean they will honor it when something actually happens to it. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.

I am livid about this place. I got both my engagement ring and wedding bands there 8 years ago. Up until recently, I have received good service. Let me start by saying that I am not a huge complainer and not quick to write negative reviews, however, after dropping a significant amount in my rings, I do feel they should be more helpful than the rep I encountered over the phone today. Basically, I called to see what the turnaround time is on fusing rings together. Henry, the person I spoke with over the phone, said he didn’t know the turnaround time because it depended on the workload of the jeweler which varies day to day. Fair enough. I asked him if he could check what the workload was today before driving 45 min there to find out they couldn’t do my job today and he said ‘Nope.’ No explanation. Nothing. I asked why not and he kept saying he couldn’t check on workload and I would have to drive there to find out. I am sorry but I deserve a better explanation why. Do his legs not work? Does his brain not process what I am saying? All I wanted was a simple check on workload before I drive across town. I’m not requesting much. I’m done with this place. They should really weed out idiots during the hiring process. For a higher end business like this, this simple request should not have been a problem.

We have gotten several things here and have been very pleased with the selection and quality of the merchandise. Employees dont work on commission so they aren’t pushy or overbearing. After purchasing, they will clean and check your piece each time you come in. They also give you jewelry cleaner with purchase for use at home. Its a big, bright, clean store and I recommend it to friends.

I really love this place! Not just because this is where my husband bought my engagement ring and wedding ring. They treat every customer that walks in here with respect and are always willing help. I cannot say I get the same feeling when I walk into other well-​known high end jewelry places.
I also like that all the prices are visible with every piece of jewelry that is showcased. I am a person that admires and values transparency. I cannot stand jewelry places that will not list the prices. It embarrasses some people to have to ask. When I say some people, I mean me. Plus, it sends a message that «If you have to ask you can’t afford it». I’m sorry, but I work hard for my money and the price is the bottom line.
The people at Americus Diamond do no make you feel that way in the slightest. When you first walk in, it may take a while for someone to help you if they’re busy. But once someone helps you, their full attention is on you and helping you. My husband took me here to upgrade my ring set and it was tough making a decision on what diamond to get and what band to choose. I was never rushed or pressured into buying something pricier.
I am a customer for life!

My husband bought my wedding ring from Americus diamonds when we were poor and young. The smaller Americus, which eons ago was off 410/​Bandera, became the huge showroom off IH10/​deZavalA. This is the same Americus diamond that has that 1AM infomercial on how to pick a diamond for all you insomnias. They used to have a program that if you went every 6 months for cleaning and inspection of the setting, they would replace the stone if it fell out. Service is usually slow, but that may be so you have time to look without being disturbed. I’ve always found the employees to be polite and helpful. If you are tagging along, there are comfortable leather sofas.

I walked in to Americus Diamond not knowing exactly what I wanted but the sales rep nailed it. We had already gone to several jewelry stores at La Cantera and had no luck. We got to Americus Diamond 30 minutes before closing and the sales rep did a great job and made us feel very comfortable during our purchase. She did not pressure us and took the time to educate us. This is definitely our new jeweler.

My husband and I are successful, young professionals, but most people treat us like college kids because of our age and laid back attire – but not here! We originally went to just look, but my husband (well, boyfriend at the time) was so impressed with the professionalism, price, experience, and selection, that he bought my engagement ring that day! It wasn’t a surprise engagement, but who needs one with a ring like mine?! ;D We ended up purchasing our wedding bands here too. My brother also went here three months ago to purchase a ring for his now fiancée! Wonderful experience, price, and quality!
My favorite part was looking at my ring under the microscope. It was so cool, I had to make another visit just so my dad could look at my ring under the microscope too! :)

Americus Diamond is my family’s go-​to place for jewelry. Their customer service is impeccable and friendly, they have a wide selection, and you can’t beat the value. There is never a question where my dad will go to buy a gift for my mom and it is always just the right piece. They make sure you leave happy. And they always take the time to clean and check any pieces you bring in! I highly recommend this local store!

My boyfriend, now fiancé’, and I walked in with no appointment and was greeted by Steve. Spoke to Steve and shared our story and what we were looking for. He brought us several stones and settings. We were able to find the PERFECT stone and setting/​band. Steve took the time to educate us on our stone and shared information about diamonds. What a terrific experience!
I did not give 5 stars due to when we returned later the same day to pick up my ring after being set and sized, we were not assisted or even acknowledged for 10 – 15 minutes. I feel there should be one designated Custer Service Counter or Representative available for pick ups and/​or drop offs during business hours.

Plain and simple: I bought my ring here and they were super helpful in selling it to me but every, and I literally mean every, stop after that to get them cleaned the service is absolutely terrible. I literally stand at the counter with not even and acknowledgement. When I finally spoke out and asked for help I was given a stare like I was being rude for interrupting. Unbelievable.

While searching for my ten year anniversary ring my husband and I looked at many places in San Antonio. Americus had the largest selection at all price ranges, and all the sales people we talked to were very helpful. They took my diamond from my original setting and placed it in a beautiful new bridal set. I was very anxious to leave my diamond there but after about three hours they had set my diamond in the new ring and sized it. I could not be happier with my lovely rings and my great experience at Americus.

Short story: Poor service/​bad policy. Business does not reset diamonds.
Longer story: Boyfriend was given a family diamond, he went there to learn more about it, test it, etc. Worked with a salesperson, but he wanted my opinion before he made a purchase. I go back with him today to choose a setting, and the salesperson says they will not set a «outside» diamond into their mountings «because insurance.» It earned a one star because of inconsistant customer service and poor policies.

Let me start by saying my fiancée purchased my ring here in 2012. Why no review? I was saving it to give my full range of thoughts since buying the ring and what I have found since.
We picked the ring out together. We found the loose diamond a radiant cut 1.21 VVS1 G colored Radiant cut diamond. Beautiful it does come with the GIA certificate. The diamond was priced about $ 7500. Online by searching the certificate number it was listed at about $ 2 – 2500 cheaper… but who knows when that was published originally. But I can certify that GIA is a real place in Carlsbad, CA where i used to work (in Carlsbad, not GIA) it is very close to Legoland and it is a very real very serious place to be. They search their employees on the way in, and on the way out. Not allowed to leave with anything in you pockets. etc.
On to the ring:
We were told to examine the ring under the microscope. Great! I’ve always wanted to do that. Unfortunately ive never seen a real diamond under a microscope so to me it means absolutely nothing to me bc I have NOTHING to compare it to.
During the purchase process we enjoyed a setting that had an emerald cut in it (a halo setting) and we could remove that diamond and put the new one in but it would take several hours if we did decide to buy it and come back to get it since we live in Austin.
They were still trying to sway us so they had their «gemologist» come out to talk to us. A very young Hispanic guy comes out… as soon as he started to speak I knew he wasnt a gemologist. He started asking the original sales girl where we got the diamonds from… what country? he didnt know any specifics about must of anything.
Also: they do not allow pictues. Something to do with that they create all their own settings and they wont allow anyone to leave with their «ideas» unless you have already bought said ring.lol. Ok. no pics. EVERY WHERE ELSE allows photos, found it odd they dont.
CLEANINGS: sometimes it takes 15 min. 20 min. 30 min, 45 min? one time it took almost an hour. I was shocked. But I was told my ring was very dirty. You know I’m sitting there on that sofa praying they arent switching out my diamond right!
But I know that diamond now like the back of my hand since we paid almost $ 13,000 for it. There will be no mistaking the setting, the diamond, none of it.
NEW RING: I went in the store one day to browse the mens wedding bands for my love. Loved one, but it was an eternity band and ran about $ 3,000+.Well he didnt like the diamonds going all the way around. He just wanted it to be halfway. I asked if I could get a price on that. sure… no problem.
NEVER heard back. ok.
Called one day and explained this situation. Asked if I could get a price quote on it and call me back. She seemed very put out by the request and said that when he was sized it was a 10. I told her he is an 11. She said but it says 10. Ok, lets meet in the middle and price it at 10.5? She argued back that its best if he just come in and get measured again b/​c the price she will quote me is only valid for 48 hours. Ok…
What does a quote good for only 48 hours have to do with measuring him?? I’m telling you what I want a price for … is it possible to get a quote on that?
Begrudgingly she agreed to call me back. Never heard back again.
Saddens me bc that was his #1 pick. We moved on from there after he quit working in SA so much and has been back in Austin full time — thank God!
We ended up ordering his ring from somewhere else.
I went in there about a week ago and got my ring cleaned. It looks good but I can still see a big spot in it. I needed it cleaned for the big wedding day and all the photos so instead Ive just been wearing it as little as possible and trying to keep it clean.
Looking back I wish I had bought the ring in town… these folks didnt seem to want my business all that badly…

with all that being said, they still have very beautiful rings here folks. more selection than I thought… and you can ask to see many different loose diamonds. the grading is specific unlike box stores (zales, kay, etc) but the diamonds are cut beautifully so they do sparkle even though they could be filthy. Keep em clean, get them inspected and stay on top of it. Explore your options.

Went in today (4pm) for a cleaning/​inspection (which is free). I was greeted with a smile and my rings were promptly taken back for a cleaning.
When picking out the diamond for my engagement ring my husband wrote down exactly what he was looking for and they called him when various diamonds of his requirements were in the store. He spent hours looking under the microscope and eventually picked the perfect one. It was set in a different band but they switched it and set it perfectly in a simple yet stylish band. We didn’t use financing nor did we feel any pressure to buy on our first visit.
I laugh reading the other poor reviews from those «almost» about to spend «large amounts» of money here. I’ve always had suburb customer service. Perhaps it’s the customer’s pompous and entitled attitude that gets in their own way. I mean gesh they have champagne, coffee and little treats-​what more could you ask for if you’re trying to flaunt your so-​called Benjis.

Foremost, I haven’t bought anything from Americus. I would have liked to, but I do not want to give this company my money. That is tough to say, since I found an AMAZING diamond for a competitive price.
I was not treated like a person in this store. More like an object. The sales person was a robot and took a few digs at me. He did show me a lot of diamonds, but I didn’t feel like I was being helped. No small talk, no eye contact, just attitude as if I was bothering him.
When I was just about ready to shrug off the subpar service and buy a diamond — A women walked up to me and told me the associated that was helping me had to go to the 2^nd floor to watch over the sales floor (it was his turn) and she would take over.
No goodbye — good luck… The women didn’t even ask my name or provide hers, just a, «Fill out this information card… Are you buying today… We have financing options…» I was so taken back I said no thank you to it all and left.
I was about to spend 5 figures in this store… No thanks. I’ll hunt for months before I go back and give this place my money.
I give Americus two stars because the selection was, by far, the best I’ve seen. But someone else will have to buy it, I won’t.
I do not believe I’m an unreasonable person — just would like some level of customer service given that I’m about to drop 5 figures on a diamond. Not a ring, just the diamond.
If that is the level of service they want to provide prior to the purchase, I don’t want to find out what level of service they provide after the sale.

Stone quality availability is great. On location fitting. This place is impressive (including the size of the building).

Americus Diamonds prides itself on being locally owned and designing all of their products in house. The facility is conveniently located and has ample parking. The showroom is massive with the largest variety of diamond jewelry mi esposa or I have ever seen. Upon walking in, we were surprised by how few sales associates were available. All of them were tending to other customers. We walked in at the same time as a younger couple. None of the sales associates looked up, much less acknowledged us. After nearly 10 minutes in the store (admittedly too long), an associate came out of the back. From that point on, service was stellar. Note to Americus Diamonds: other Unilocalers have posted similar complaints, so perhaps you need to work on greeting the customers when they walk in to drop big bucks. Back to the review. Once the associate was helping us, she spent nearly 2 hours patiently walking us through the selection, products, and options. She was very knowledgeable and not once did she try to sway us toward a particular product. Low pressure? Definitely! The products we viewed were truly amazing. The craftsmanship was impeccable. The warranty and service they offer is hard to beat. Certainly other reviewers with 1-​star reviews had poor experiences. Ours was mixed, with a poor start and stellar finish. Wife’s ring was sized within just a few hours. A better greeting would have garnered a 5-​star review.
