Barry Picture Framing

This is my second review after the company requested to have my first review removed in an attempt to increase their image on Unilocal.
They sucked me in with a «special» they were running where the artist selects the frame for you and you are given the option to pick your price. This was merely a guilt tactic to try to put undue pressure on the customer. They even paraded me around their staff while I decided what I should pay. Once I said my price, the manager informed me that I was getting over 3k in framing for only 700 bucks. It was a shame. Equally disappointing was the quality of the work. Poor craftsmanship coupled with a complete lack of respect is what I received.
I have used many framing companies over the years. This was, by far, my worst experience yet. I would rather go to Michaels for the same quality.
From the looks of it, they are successful in preying off the money in the neighborhood; they will not receive anymore of my business.

I have to disagree with the previous negative reviews. I’ve had really good work done here. I think they are professional and take pride in the work that they do. It is definitely more expensive than Michael’s, but you get what you pay for. I’ve had to take items back to Michael’s before because items fell off, weren’t glued well, or the poster was wrinkled under the frame. Also, I’ve never felt that I’ve received expertise or guidance from that store.
I also have to reinforce Ellen C’s comment about generous offers. I hesitate to write that they will discount items or give them gratis, in fear that it becomes an expectation, or you’re disappointed if it doesn’t happen — but it happens.
I’ve had their employees spend a significant amount of time, working on the design and ideas of framing projects. It’s really a 5 star place. If you have a special item you want treated and framed well, it’s a no-​brainer to come here.

After paying $ 150 for the most basic of frames with no mat on a moderate-​sized piece of art, I shall try to find the words to express my disgust and disappointment with this place of business. Since my regular framer — who did far superior work at much more reasonable prices — went out of business a few years ago, proximity has forced me to use these people. With each visit, the service and the quality of the work decline, while the price goes up. They are nothing short of lackadaisical about what they do, perhaps a reflection of their location, feeling they have a captive, well-​heeled clientele. Never again will I darken their doors, and I’ll take every opportunity to tell people to avoid these price-​gauging slackers. I don’t like venturing outside 410 for basic services, but these people have given me cause to do so when it comes to framing. Zero or negative stars to them, if I could. They are truly that bad.

I love to give shout outs about people who not only love the jobs that they do, but go about doing them with quiet grace and incredible dignity. I was diagnosed with brain cancer this past year and a friend of mine brought a beautiful painting a story to Barry’s along with a poem to have it framed for me to go into my room after I got out of surgery and as an inspiration along my cancer treatment. The amazing staff there was so kind and gentle. They framed the gift perfectly and gave the gift to me without charge as a treat in order for me to get well. I was shocked and astonished.
As I got better and out of treatment, I took my oil pastels to them and a large tray of lunch food to them to thank them for their loving kindness. They beautifully reframed and re-​matted our beautiful collection of art. Please give yourself a wonderful treat of using these humble, nice, down to earth, hardworking people. They are treasures in our midst.
