A Novel Idea dba Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and dba Cinnabon in San Antonio and San Marcos

History

Established in 2000.

After fifteen years in corporate America, Lisa left a secure job as Managing Director of an International Behavioral Science firm to pursue the dream of owning her own business. In 2000, A Novel Idea, LLC (ANI) was founded and began operating its first Auntie Anne’s Pretzels at North Star Mall. In order to lead by example, Lisa traded her pumps for pretzel proprietorship and worked 70 hour weeks for years learning the business from ground up. That hands on training allowed the business to grow from 1 store employing 8 to 6 franchises employing 66 people. In 2013, ANI opened its first co-​branded Auntie Anne’s and Cinnabon (only the 5^th of its kind in the US) at the San Antonio International Airport.

Although ANI operates franchised businesses, Lisa and her husband/​business partner Jim, developed a unique set of Core Values for this family owned business, to illustrate the heartbeat of ANI.

Lisa was introduced to pretzels by her neighbor — who just so happened to be «Auntie» Anne Beiler herself. Lisa quickly learned about Anne’s passionate work ethic, worldview, and intriguing success as a pretzel franchiser. She was most impressed by their high regard for people, knowing the correlation between happy employees and positive production.
