Grace Point Church

I have been coming to this church for a very long time and I absolutely love it. From the moment you enter you feel welcome and you don’t feel out of place. Once you go inside they have music playing, the announcement going on, people talking, kids running around and the environment is very peaceful.
Once the service starts, they start with a prayer, then go into offerings and then the praise and worship. The praise and worship team is amazing. All the way from piano player to the lead singer to the person playing the guitar they all just come together wonderful and make the praise and worship very enjoyable time. Once the preacher starts talking his sermon feels like a friend just giving you advice. I hate going to churches and the preacher sounds like he’s getting after you… I hate that! If I wanted to get in trouble I would just go to my parents house lol. Anyways the preacher here is the complete opposite! They have a visitor area so of your new just stop by after service is done to know everything g this church offers. I would recommend this church to anyone who is looking

It was nice, we introduced ourselves as new to the area and the people were very friendly. The message was inspirational. It’s just we had a very very good church back in nwi (chicagoland) its hard to fill those shoes.

Gracepoint Daycare: After being on the waitlist for Gracepoint Daycare for about a year I was thrilled to finally get a call a space was available. When I toured it sounded as though they were accomodating and focused on academics. I even read educator reviews on the A Beka curriculum which they follow and was enthusiastic for our daughter to be a part of it. I was also sure to ask about the meal system as my daughter is vegetarian and they seemed flexible and understanding about our needs.
Once we enrolled and attended the open house we got a much different picture. We received a copy of the menu and were pretty amazed by how unhealthy it was, it was very simple and the lunches were not complete nutritionally. (ex. chicken nuggets, corn and mashed potatoes or pasta with bread and butter or pizza etc) also the snacks were usually very sugary (ex. chocolate pudding with whipped cream). When we probed more about options for substitution, we were told we could bring our daughter a lunch, but that it would not be heated up (ok we can plan for that) but then on the first day of school we were told they also could not refridgerate her lunch… so it will sit at room temperature and aquire bacteria all day… As an explanation for the lack of nutritional value and for the lack of flexibility in substitutions for students with special dietary needs they state «for licensing». Well this is not the first daycare we have used and prior daycares operating under the same licensing standards had no problem allowing us to substitute (ex. we would provide veggie nuggets to heat/​serve on days they had meat lunches). Even another daycare with around 120 students and no microwave had no issue with allowing us to provide substitutes for them to prepare for her and even offered to purchase veggie foods so we would not have to supply them.
As for the curriculum, the first lesson they were going to be teaching was that «we are all sinners and none can reach the glory of God» …a little intense and complicated for the very first lesson for a group of two year olds… of all the beautiful lessons and stories in the bible, this is an interesting starting point for children just starting to learn about the bible and christianity.
They are also strict when it comes to drop off/​pick up times which may not work for parents whose schedules may not allow for a «by 7:45am» drop off. Some parents may like the strict expectations as it is more like regular school, but may not work for everyone.
So I say «its okay» if you are not overly concerned about what your child is being fed and are ok with some very serious/​intense subjects being taught to very young children and want your child to experience a more school like environment. The teachers seem lovely, the school seemed clean, the playground looked fun and the children seemed happy when we visited, however we «dislike» this lack of flexibility are going to start exploring other options. So if you are on the WL for this school you may have a spot open up!

Pastor Jeff Harris, and his father, have been bringing the gospel to San Antonio for decades, and they’re really good at it. Now Jeff has been known to give a spiritual spank or two, and even say a swear word from the pulpit, so if that offends you — maybe rethink? He once dressed as a homeless man and sat in his own congregation — when they ignored him, he talked about how disappointed he was in their treatment. For my family and I there is no better fit. Because spiritual relationship, in, and out of the church is so personal, let me just leave the rest of the review for logistics.
They have a WONDERFUL kids program. My 5^th grader goes to a different experience each week (there is a movie theater with popcorn, a kitchen where they cook dishes for the homeless shelters, and a story room where they reenact things). Think «hands on» — much like the adult experience. It really is like family. There are things to do, all types of areas in which to become involved, and there isn’t a drop of «religious» feeling (to me) in any of it. Come as you are — with jeans, shorts, flip flops, dresses, pink hair, or single with an agenda.
Praise and Worship is amazing! Greg and his team change up every weekend, and they do all three services (8:30, 10, and 11:30). Giving is no pressure, but their is a lot of education on what you’re called to do in this community. Every service starts with a multimedia experience that ties to the message and it’s wonderfully engaging. I say give it a try — the Lord will let you know if you’re called to be here.
TIP: Don’t worry about dressing up — I mean bathe, but come as you are.

Typical big, impersonal church. They offer this & that, but it’s not friendly.

It’s a great daycare. It’s clean and very structured. I’m very picky and don’t trust anyone for my kids but I get to go to work with no worries.

If your looking for a daycare that will treat your kids right and get them ready for kindergarten then look no further then Grace Point. Our kids have been attending GP since they were 2 and they love it. The staff is friendly and they have a huge playground for the kids to play. I know how hard it is to find a daycare that you can trust but believe me GP is hands down the best in my opinion.
