This is a terrific medical practice! Last Wednesday, I called at 1 PM when my husband was having problems that I felt warranted a visit. Not only were they able to schedule the appointment — we drove from San Marcos! — but saw him immediately, did blood work in the office, then immediately sent him for a CT scan. What at first seemed an infection was, in face, a blood clot on his right lung! We were directed to Methodist Hospital’s ER, where my husband received excellent treatment and was released from the hospital on Sunday. We are thankful to Dr. Manuel Rodriguez at MacGregor for his prompt diagnosis that may well have saved my husband’s life! Becky H

I have been going there for 4years. Never experienced like this. I was there at on time for my appointment but they could not check me even after 40 mins. They told that they were verifying my insurance mean while even though they verified when called for appointment time it self. After 40 mins I was asked to reschedule my appointment.
I told that I can wait. but still they complaining me missed my appointment time. Three people came one after other saying different reasons to reschedule one. now it almost one hr now.
Totally I was frustrated with their customer service

Awesome! I was squeezed in and the dr was on time and everything was pleasant! So far so good I will give 5 stars this because service was prompt!

I feel obligated to write a very positive review to counter some of the poor reviews. I don’t know where THEY are going, but the MacGregor Medical Center at 9969 Fredericksburg Rd. in San Antonio has always provided outstanding care for me. I have been going there for over ten years because (1) They are never more that 10 or 15 minutes behind (2) They always fit me in depending on my needs (3) They are pleasant and helpful (4) They always call me back when I leave a message (5) They will take a message for the doctor and actually GIVE it to him and either the nurse or doctor will call me back (6) My doctor always listens & I never feel rushed (7) Every nurse I’ve ever dealt with has been very nice. This clinic is so much better than most doctors offices that I go to in the very upscale areas of town… where you can wait over an hour and the staff won’t even acknowledge they are running behind, or heaven forbid, say «sorry for the wait.» I love MacGregor Medical & would feel confident in referring anyone to this clinic.

I’ve been visiting here for over a decade and am satisfied with the quality of care I receive from Dr. Oliver and staff. Dr. Oliver is skilled and available. The staff is courteous and responsive. My family had used a variety of Doctors here, including Senger, Aguirre, Beck, and Wysocki; we have favorable opinions of them all.
Yes, occasionally they are busy, overbooked and hurried; free wi-​fi for these long waits would be nice!

This place is AWFUL. I’ve never had an appointment happen any where within an hour on the scheduled start time. The waiting room is a cattle call and the staff (doctors included) couldn’t care less about you or your problems. Last year a doctor (Dr. Senger) laughed at me when I informed him that I was pregnant (an IVF pregnancy, mind you, so I knew for sure that I was pregnant as I had just had a blood test to confirm) and questioned the legitimacy of my pregnancy.
I had an appointment scheduled for 2:15 today and was asked to arrive by 2:00. I arrived around 1:45, signed in and waited. Finally at 2:18 I was called up to the desk only to be informed that Dr. Senger was running an hour and a half late. I find that ridiculous. How is there not a policy in place to inform patients when they are running that far behind?! The woman at the desk was not very helpful and in the end I just left. I would rather wait a month to see a doctor that actually cares than every come here again.

Wow, the front office staff is, for all intents and purposes the worst group of «workers» I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. As previous reviews have said, they are lazy, slow, and there is ZERO communication within the department unless it is to talk trash about patients within earshot of those in the waiting room. HIPAA violation anyone? The managers do not care because they are too busy doing whatever they do that is not actually management.
I am continuously shocked that such a large staff can be so slow and incompetent. I called to make an appointment, was number 2 in line, and after about 45 minutes of waiting i just drove down to the office. When the employee heard my phone he told me i should answer it… no, he should answer it. they had about 6 staffers just chit chatting in the background while people were on hold. Mind you, i called over an hour prior to closing. They are so lazy that they can’t be bothered to answer a phone call an HOUR before close? You have got to be kidding me. Clearly they don’t understand how businesses works. This was not a one time event either. If you ask for a reminder for a set appointment, they cannot even do that because «they are soooooo short staffed.» You would not be short staffed if the majority of your workers knew how to do their jobs. This establishment is a laughing stock to all the other clinics. It is well known the desk is terrible.
The two managers (lol) are Connie, who is supposed to address concerns, but simply ignores them, and Nancy who is apparently in charge of accounting? Because nothing else on their bios says either are qualified to run an office.
It is almost stupid to make an appointment since you will have to wait an addition 30−45minutes in the office because (for some reason) they are behind. The doctor sees you for like 5 minutes.
They will always try and charge for missed appointments (even though that should be good because they are ALWAYS behind). If you ask a question to the staff it is always met with a «hurr durr, i don’t know, but wont be disciplined because whoever is in charge is totally spineless.» If this was my business i would literally fire the majority of the do nothing staff, and hire a few fast food workers for less (the quality of service is about equal).
Need to ask about your prescription and any side effects? Good luck. The front desk would rather have you bleed out your eyeball than disturb their little social hour. God forbid an elderly patient needed assistance, but unsure if they should call 911. The way this place is run is shameful.
The nurses are rather terse as well, and very heavy handed. I get it is a stressful job, but that’s the path you chose. It wouldn’t kill them to can the eyerolls when you walk in the door. The rooms are DIRTY as well. This is a hospital setting. If you cannot be bothered to dust the fixtures, you need not work or own a clinic.
I like my doc okay, but because of the horrendous desk staff I will be taking my family of four elsewhere.
final verdict: Stay away unless you want snarky staffers talking smack behind your back, slow service, rude nurses, ok doctors, and hold times longer than an hour. t

Some of the staff members could be friendlier, but I’ve never had any huge problems with them. However, I don’t know if there is any issue with the staff that would prevent me from taking my son to Dr. Beck. To be clear, my three star rating is for the medical center only. Dr. Beck deserves more than five stars. I’ve never waited more than fifteen minutes past my son’s appointment time, yet I have never felt rushed by Dr. Beck. He takes his time and addresses all questions and concerns. I’ll never understand how he does that while still being punctual. Also, Dr. Beck will call you or email you back, usually within the hour, and he will tell you if there is no need to bring the child in. However, if the child does need to be seen, he will almost always squeeze you in the same day. So, while I sympathize with the frustration of some of the commenters here, regarding the office staff, I think that if your doctor is good enough, it doesn’t matter so much. I went through six terrible pediatricians before I found Dr. Beck, and I will never take my son to another doctor if I can avoid it.

I guess it should be expected at a clinic with such a large staff, but at Macgregor it’s hard not to feel like you’re just Patient #2944 being hustled out the door, on to the next one. I miss my old doctor’s private practice, where I actually felt like a patient he cared for and spent time with.
I don’t have much faith in the support staff here, either. I had a CT scan ordered, which I scheduled for the same day. Two weeks went by and I hadn’t heard anything, so I called Macgregor and they said nothing ever came in. First, it’s clear that they can’t be bothered to follow up on their patients’ health, and second, a quick call to the imaging center confirmed they did in fact send the results in the day after the test.
When I finally got a hold of someone who could tell me the results, it wasn’t even a doctor, and seemed to be a nurse who could offer no additional insight beyond what was written on the scan result by the imaging center. In other words, I’d have been just as well off having the imaging center send the thing to me directly.
Their staff is by and large incompetent, and on more than one occasion I’ve been left forgotten on hold. The first hold for 20 minutes to actually talk to someone, the second 20 minute hold while that person looks something up, and then I was greeted again as if I had just called in. They also didn’t send my CT scan on to another doctor I was referred to, and I had to go pick up the CT myself to bring to that appointment.
I also suggest scheduling your appointment first thing in the morning for any chance at being seen on time. Otherwise, plan to spend an entire morning or afternoon away from work.
I wouldn’t recommend Macgregor to anybody and would encourage you to find a private practice with a small staff who knows who you are.

I understand everyone has their opinions about this place, but I’ve found most doctors at this clinic knowledgable and they take their time to diagnose the patients. Personally, I see Dr. Carlos Roldan — always spot on diagnosis, great demeanor, patient and takes the time to listen to the patients. If he knows a patient is in need of help, he’ll go out of his way to make room for a walk-​in if necessary. Great staff, Janie, Dr. Roldan’s nurse is fantastic.

Front desk staff is atrocious. Lazy, ignorant, uneducated, and let me mention lazy for a second or third time.
Dr. Senger is great and the only reason I come back, I have weighed it out many times…
In a time of illness and immediate need I had to see Dr. Oliver… HORRIBLE PHYSICIAN. He came in rude and aloof, completely disregarded everything I told him. He also misdiagnosed me, if he diagnosed me at all… He just prescribed me a bunch of things, that would actually make me worse if I didn’t know better and know enough to call in a favor to some cross-​state friend physicians…
I had food poisoning, of some sort, disregard that and lets just treat symptoms. Prescribe medication for heartburn, stomach pain, and muscle spasms, all of which will dehydrate you.
I happen to be a semi-​educated patient, and generally intelligent human being. I only go to the doctor in these cases when it is necessary. Based on the extent of my conditions, his next logical step would to shove an IV in my arm and tell me to hold still for 20 minutes, but no.
He did warm up later, oddly (considering my condition) but was not open to offering any legitimate assistance. Luckily I reflected on all of this while in line at the pharmacy and grabbed some items that would actually help me.
To reiterate, front office staff is HORRIBLE. Rude, unprofessional, lazy, ignorant, uneducated, and downright disgusting.

I saw doctor Senger and the wait was not that long. The lab technician that drew my blood was outstanding… I have really bad veins. Doc Senger was through with my blood work. The actual atmosphere of the building is dreary but overall didn’t have any problems.

I went in to see Dr Senger for a physical check up. Even though I marked several things on the medical history sheet, he never inquired about any of them. He only saw me for less than two minutes, so when he left, I was sure I would see him again after having my tests done, but I did not and therefore did not have the chance to ask questions regarding my medical concerns. I then received a phone call and was asked to call back, however I was not provided with a time, so whenever I called, he was with patients. When he finally called back 1 week later, I was put on hold, and when he picked up, he did not say hello, asked me how I was and started ratteling down the list of results and hung up.

I really really love coming to MacGregor Med Center. If you call in the same day and need to come in for an appointment, they will fit you in, plus they don’t make it like a hassle — they are so nice about it. I see Dr. Ana Rodriguez and she’s very nice, I love the hassle-​free prescriptions, they forward it right to your pharmacy so that you don’t have to make two trips to drop it off and pick it back up.

I love going here! Long gone are the days of constantly faxing and making calls if you need to schedule appointments, request refills, or request medical records. Instead you can do everything online, finally a modern day doctors office!
I have Dr. Sanchez as my primary physicians, and I’m a huge fan of him. I never have a long wait before going to see him and he actually spends a decent amount of time talking to you before he reaches a conclusion.

I have been a patient of Dr. Smith at MacGregorm for 10 years. I am always able to get an appointment, he is very prompt, and really cares about his patients!

Like most medical centers, The feeling that our Obama Care is based on Henry Ford’s Model of mass production. So, I am not a big fan of the health care industry, sorry of you wonderful nurse and etc.
The MMC was average. I am not a fan of scheduling an appointment to find that My time slot is not available or the doctor is running behind. I understand things come up and schedule shift, but that is the job of the receptionist to inform the patient of the potential waiting time.
There are multiple doctors in the group. So, there isn’t an issue finding one that suits your personality or has a special interest in your condition (s).

MacGregor Medical Center has about 10 physicians that specialize in internal medicine and family practice. Over the last couple of years I have gone twice and seen two different doctors: Dr. Jose Sanchez and Dr. Mark Smith.
Dr. Sanchez visited with me about some neck pain I was having and I found him to be friendly and helpful. He spent about ten minutes just talking with me, and even asked me if I carry a really heavy purse, wear high heels a lot, etc. It seemed like he could have just said I needed an x-​ray and left it at that, but I felt like he wanted to give me some practical advice too.
Dr. Smith was nice as well, although maybe not quite as chatty as Dr. Sanchez. Dr. Smith listened to me patiently and then prescribed a couple of follow up ideas.
I found the nurses to be efficient, with the exception of one in the X-​Ray department who was pretty rude. However, the nurse in the lab was very skilled at drawing blood and the check-​out lady was funny (she said it smelled like either feet or Cheetos, which started an odd conversation… I mean, do they really smell the same?).
As opposed to the last person who reviewed, they billed my insurance first and said they would send a bill. The wait to get in was probably about 15 minutes, which included filling out paperwork.
Overall, MacGregor seems a decent place to get basic problems looked into and physicals done. I would recommend either doctor I had there.

Terrible, simply terrible.
The doctors (or mine at least — Dr. Dennis Oliver) have no bedside manners whatsoever. I was on time, yet the doctor whom I waited 40 minutes to see only spent a curt 15 minutes with me.
The staff, though, are far worse. First, they don’t seem to understand how insurance works. They insist on full payment up front, and state that you should then «file for reimbursement yourself» with your insurance carrier. BTW, my insurance carrier is Humana and MacGregor is in-​network, so you’d think they’d understand basic health insurance concepts (i.e. bill insurance first, obtain coinsurance from patient later).
Second, they have no concept of customer service and frankly aren’t all that bright. Simple issues (i.e. a simple lab test that should have been ordered initially by the doctor) require hours and hours to resolve. Forget about speaking to your doctor directly — you have to leave about three or four messages with an answering service and then hope your doctor eventually calls you back. More often than not, the message will be completely bungled, or the doctor will have his nurse assistant call you back for an issue that he should be taking care directly, or more likely he simple won’t bother at all.
Overall — the doctors and staff here don’t care about their patients or their patients’ time. Get used to being treated like a complete idiot.
