I found this store by chance and I am certainly happy I did. If it is good enough for the likes of presidents and popes it is certainly good enough for me. I found it specially awesome that the third generation owner (he store is 99 years old) greeted us at the door within an hour of closing. No pressure sales, just knowledgeable sales. I spent $ 450 and very happy I did!

When my kids were little, they would lose their minds in Toys R Us. Restrain yourself, don’t touch, no you can’t have all of that. Well, for hat wearing people like me, It’s super hard to resist all of the wonderful hats Paris Hatters has in stock and it’s me who needs to be restrained.
I just had a crushable black fedora cleaned there today. I could make up a story but the truth is this particular hat fell out of my rotation then made its way to the back of my walk in closet then after a time other clothes crushed it as it was resting on the shelf. You get the picture. Today, the folks at Paris Hatters gave it a good cleaning and it’s sitting on my office desk waiting to provide some fashion flair for me the next time I wear it.
Paris Hatters is the reason I wear hats regularly. I’m not talking about ball caps. I’m talking about stylish hats that look great when dressing up or dressing down.
At least a decade ago, I walked into their store to purchase my first quality hat. I had no clue on what to buy. Lucky for me, the hat professional there moved me through the store trying to find one that was right for my head. After a few feet of walking, he found the hat that looked like it was constructed just for me. What I learned there that day has allowed me to buy many varieties of quality hats but I would still be at square one if it hadn’t been for that hat professional educating me.
There’s a saying. Clothes define the man. Paris Hatters helped me with that first hat purchase to define my own sense of style in hats. They can do that for you too.

If you’re serious about finding the right hat, this is the place for you! They have tons of cowboy hats as well as flat caps, fedoras and more. A knowledgable, friendly staff is happy to work with you to help you find exactly what you’re looking for. In addition to being a truly great hat store, Paris Hatters is living piece of American cultural history. You just don’t find many places like this anymore. It’s been family owned and operated since 1917. Well worth the visit!

I went to this store based upon a friend’s recommendations and the store opened up almost 30 minutes late. The lady in the store was rude and not helpful whatsoever. For those of us out-​of-​towers I was disappointed by her lack of patience or customer support. Maybe she was just tired of me asking questions, given locals probably know more about hats. I was seriously going to buy a new hat but her attitude turned me off. Obviously she had better things to do. I was quite surprised given this store’s history and Unilocal reviews. Let’s just hope I caught her on a bad day.

This place doesn’t look very enticing with the old marquee style sign and overcrowded interior but, wow the hat selection is impressive. The boyfriend decided he needed a new hat so we walked in and were immediately greeted by a very helpful gentleman.
There are signs everywhere saying not to handle the hats without assistance so, be respectful. This store has been here for a long time and you can tell by all the framed newspaper clippings and memorabilia on the walls of famous people who have bought their hats and times they were mentioned in the newspapers.
The hats are on the expensive side but, they are made from high quality materials and are produced to last for a while so, it’s worth it. He decided on a Stetson hat made out of beaver and just a side note they will not negotiate pricing. They have plenty of styles ranging from Bermuda hats, cowboy hats, fedora hats to cabby hats. They also have women’s hats for those ladies interested in checking this place out.
They will pack your hat up in a nice hat box (impressive because every hat I buy just gets thrown into a bag).

A small shop filled to the «brim» (pun intended) with quality felt & straw hats of all styles and many familiar brands. Also plenty of different brands and styles of boots (mostly cowboy-​style).
Abe was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful finding hat styles and sizes. I purchased a straw Stetson and walked the block to the U.S. Post Office where I mailed the hat home. I would definitely return on my next visit to San Antonio.

It was a joy to visit this classic store, a true landmark among Texans and ten gallon hat lovers. The staff was helpful without being pushy. It’s worth a look around just to see the vintage western memorabilia, and especially a signed thank you from the Man in Black. I walked out a little taller in my new Resistol Size 7 white western. Yes ladies, plenty in stock for us.

We have been shopping in this fabulous store for at least 30 years. Very impressive, knowledgeable and has taken care of all of our hat needs. Including, western, a panama and even once, a much needed, top hat.

Handsome, quality Stetson hats and Lucchese boots for men and women. Visiting from Silicon Valley and in search of an authentic Western hat, found this store on Unilocal.Such a great experience, learned about Stetson felt hats and the store’s three-​generation history. The owners will help you find the right hat for you and will steam shape it to fit you perfectly and look fantastic. Walked out with a specially fitted Stetson, feeling like a million bucks. Received many compliments. Prices are not cheap, but reasonable compared to online sources. Highly recommend this store for high quality Western hats and boots and excellent, personalized service. Great location too — walking distance from the Alamo and Riverwalk.

This place is amazing. When I was in the market for a fedora I did not consider any other place but Paris Hatters. I grew up here so I knew of their reputation as the place to go for anything hats. They were very patient with me as I tried on my varieties of fedoras. When I found it the custom shaped it. Many years have passed and the fedora is still going strong. I am now in the market for a derby. I think I know where to go.

My husband wears a size 8 hat, which is pretty big. We have tried repeatedly over the years to find a Stetson that fits, even ordering one from a store in Steamboat Springs, CO. Never got it. Walked in here and within minutes he had the perfect hat. They allowed us to customize it to taste, even blocking the brim to look a little sharper. We had great service. The store is quite small; I had to walk in rather that ride my scooter, but they allowed me to sit while I was waiting for the customization, which didn’t take very long at all.

Cool lil hat shop with prices ranging between $ 20.00 — $ 1000.00’s. The shop has been in business since 1917 and the legendary Johnny Cash use to shop here!

This place is amazing! So full of history. They carry all the hats and boots you can imagine! They staff is warm and friendly and very helpful. This place gets A lot of traffic and it can get cramped inside when it gets full. This place is a must see!

This is probably the place to come to if you’re in the market for an authentic cowboy hat! There is a huge selection of hats and boots. My sister has been on the hunt for boots. After checking the reviews we decided to doosey on over. We walked in and walked around for a while but not one person offered to help us. We walked, we touched, we saw the guy steaming the hats. Still no help until we asked. I’m not sure which is worse. When salespeople follow you around or they leave you alone. But i have to say i did like those cowboy hats which is why i’m giving the four stars.

I’m partial to the Dorfman-​Pacific (California) brand for good value in a non-​Western hat. They have plenty of D-​P Western hats, but also a good selection of Panama hats (I bought one) and Indiana Jones-​style felt hats (I bought one of these also.) The wool hat is crushable so I don’t have to worry about it getting damaged on the plane home.
I’ve priced these hats very near the factory, but Paris Hatters beat the local guys by a mile. Ricardo didn’t follow me around and didn’t pressure me at all. Offered to ship one or both hats in an insured box for a for a reasonable price ($ 20).
They also sell beaver and other more costly hats and offer cleaning and blocking service. An old style full service hat store.
Overall a great hat buying experience at a good price.

Paris Hatters is true to form of good old fashion customer service. I was in a rush to get to an event and needed something western for the event, I rushed in and told the nice gentleman at the front that I needed a simple western shirt in a hurry, he pointed me to the back, asking me a few questions along the way. He quickly suggested the Johnny Cash, black shirt with white outlines, complete with Pearl snaps. He took it down, I tried it on, and was out the door in less than 10 minutes. Smiles and help the whole way. This is also the go to place for hats, which is a well known fact in the Alamo city. Only a couple blocks from the Alamo, this place is a gem in our great city.

The old man, other reviewers commented not nicely, was very friendly. He was not showing around or following us. He let us look, check and try on hats. They had all kinds of hats.
The store needed a bit of cleaning or remodeling to compete with other shops in downtown San Antonio, though they don’t needed, maybe. The selection of hats and boots tells what kind of store they wanted to be for many years. Very impressive.
We just want to browsing around, not even trying, still it was fun, and even educational. One boots I liked it very much. Tony couldn’t decide what he wanted, in the end he didn’t get it.

Hats and Boots.
I was in the San Antonio area and before leaving for my trip, I ask the chica what she wanted while I was n Texas… a hat was the reply so off I went looking for said hat. I did a quick Google /​Yelp search for western wear and this place popped up.
I happened to be staying down the street so walked over and was greeted by the two fellas that were working there. I explained my needs and they got me pointed in the right direction. I had her hat picked out in a jiff and they took care of sending it back to her as I didn’t want to carry it around.
They have a nice selection not only of hats, but boots and belts and other leather goods — the place smells good when you walk in there. Ricky was super helpful and the whole experience here was fine.
Give them a shot if you need these types of items.

Before going to this place I had read the reviews about the guy being crabby but when I was there I was helped by a great Mexican gentleman. I told him I just wanted to look around and he said sure. When I stopped to look at something he told me to go ahead and try it on. No pressure. I liked that.
They’ve got all kinds of hats. Mostly cowboy hats but also bowlers, Tom Landrys, even top hats. Prices seemed to be good too from what I had researched on the internet.
After deciding on my selection the old guy came around and complimented me on it with a smile.
All in all, a great experience.
