History

Established in 1962.

The story of the Pink Poodle starts with Mrs. Evelyn Fuller, who was proudly showing her high quality poodles all over Texas. She quickly realized how expensive it was (especially in that time) to keep her dogs groomed with the quality she wanted (and needed) and how difficult it was to get a decent standard breed grooming! So, she naturally decided to do it herself. She started a little grooming place in her backyard, but was quickly forced to move into an official business location. Pretty soon after that, the other local grooming shop found itself in a lot of trouble! The Pink Poodle thrived and became very popular. Mrs. Fuller inherited the business to her daughter, Barbara Black, who in turn inherited it to her daughter: Cathy Sleeper. Today, Cathy Sleeper provides her customers with the same show quality that separated the Pink Poodle from the other grooming businesses and continues to treat your pet like Family.

Business Owner

Cathy started grooming in 1978, when she was just 18 years old. She was planning on learning how to do all of those beautiful haircuts first, and maybe practice a little bit, but she didn’t count with her mother Barbara firing one of the groomers. Guess what, Cathy? You’re up! She soon picked up the pace and became the business owner in 1984. Since then, the Pink Poodle doesn’t just provide with show quality grooms, but it also became specialized in special-​needs (diabetic, elderly, blind, etc) and difficult dogs (aggressive, overweight, etc).

Besides the Pink Poodle, Cathy also works as a horse trainer in the other family business: Turkey Creek Stables. She gives lessons to advanced students and has her own showing team in Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross-​Country.

Cathy has 3 sons, all of which work in the family businesses, and she has been happily married for 31 years. She also has 3 dogs: Diamond, the pitbull; Sarah, the Aussie; and Pocket, the Chihuahua.
