PJ’s & Pizza Elite Event @ Liberty Bar

I just realized, I never wrote a review for my very first Unilocal Elite event ever, the Pizza and Pajama party at Liberty Bar! Many thanks to Liberty Bar, Gloria, and the nice intern at the time for making it happen! I got some free tube socks, too!
Why did I give it 4-​stars and not 5-​stars, you ask? For a few simple reasons. (1) Coming in as a new Elite is not easy, especially when you don’t know anyone. I made attempts to communicate with a few fellow Unilocalers, but was met mostly with apprehensiveness than open arms. Which was fine, considering the overall atmosphere of the event was very cliquey. This made the experience a little awkward albeit still moderately enjoyable. Maybe it was my Homer Simpson PJ pants? I guess I’ll never know. (2) The acoustics of the room were just downright horrible! I know that Liberty Bar went all out for us Unilocalers by providing us with some amazing appys and libations, but the room full of 40 people sounded more like a room full of 400 people. (3) While the finger foods were nice, it was very entertaining to see how everyone couldn’t wait for the pizza to be set down before they bumrushed the table, LOL. Despite how effortless I may have made it look, eating while standing is not very enjoyable! Maybe if the people at the only 3 tables would have stood up and rotated every now and then, that wouldn’t have been a big deal. (4) And finally, even the wait staff seemed to be very selective on who they personally hand-​delivered drinks to since I had to go up to the little window every time I needed a drink. Could it have been the fact that they were ladies and the person handing out drinks was a dude, possibly, but who cares because I don’t really plan on drinking in a log cabin again anytime soon :)

I’m a naughty elite. I went to the event, had such a fabulous time, and TOTALLY didn’t write a review for it! I think I need a spanking. Wait, no, I don’t. Yes, I do. Noooo… Oh, what the hell, if you’re willing, I’ll take it! ;P
Ms. Glo & her super duper sidekick, Ms. Chelsea, set up one of THEE best events I’ve been to date! Fully dressed in my PJs (complete with bunny slippers, of course!!!), I went to the elevator. When I arrived upstairs, I was greeted with confused looks. I feverishly pressed the «G» button and headed back downstairs. Obviously, I was in the wrong area of the building.
Finally made my way to the correct side, and Glo and Chelsea greeted me with smiles and hugs. Went inside and grabbed a chair. Once the rest of the Unilocalers started to show, so did the part-​tayyyyyy! I played Super Mario chess and as confusing as it was at first (I had to keep the character chart close by so I knew what was a rook and the queen *rolls eyes*) I finally got into the groove of the game! Afterwards, we played app games that Walter broke out with and it was almost like extreme charades. Holy cow! FUN!!!
The Liberty Bar did an excellent job with the foodstuffs! Pizza, wine (well, for me it was tea) and sweets. I had their pizza before on another excursion so I was amped to try the other flavors they offered. And the LB did NOT let me down! Delicious! I wish they delivered… on my side of town… about 20 miles away… All the employees were very generous and made sure we were all well-​taken care of and I definitely appreciate that.
After the prize giveaways and other announcements and the party winded down, a few of us opted for an AFTER PART-​TAYYYYYYYYYYY!!! We saved a life (okay, we didn’t really ‘save’ her) but this chick (non-​Yelper) was in a car accident on our way to Essence and as Walter said, «We have to help her because it’s NEAT TO BE ELITE!»
I felt SO honored because later, Gloria told me I looked like Florence Nightingale running across the street in my flowing PJs! Hot damn, I look good saving lives!!!

My review is a little late, but better than never! I never miss a chance to go out in my PJs in public with (or without) a reason. This was my first Unilocal Elite event and I felt oh, so cool! The San Antonio Elites are really nice and Gloria was basically the quintessential hostess with the mostest. After checking in, in person and online, we were ready to join the party.
We were at a table that didn’t have games, but we were a few minutes late so I think this had more to do with everyone playing games already. We got to talking to some other first timers. That popcorn with the little nuggets of yum were simply the best!
Everyone started playing Heads Up which is going to be my new go-​to game whenever I’m at a party or social gathering. It seemed like a lot of fun. The table situation made it awkward for us to join in because we were at a completely separate table. We followed along and laughed and WOW do those Elites have some lungs on them ;)
Being new, I was expecting there to be a learning curve and there was a small one, but it has left me excited for the next Elite Event to get to know this group even better!

Let me get this straight. You want me to put on my PJs then head down to Southtown and go into the Liberty Bar in my PJs to eat pizza, drink beer and play games? Like a slumber party you say? Ok, I’m down for that. Lets do it! But everyone else better be in their PJs too!
Its becoming old news by now but Glo arranged another amazing Elite Event. Huge thanks to Liberty Bar for allowing us to take over some space. An even bigger thanks to the staff that also dressed up in their PJs to make us more comfortable in ours.
The pizzas were delicious. The beer selection never disappoints and for the non beer drinker they offered wine or mixed drinks. It was an all around awesome way to spend a Friday night with friends.
Oh! I also cannot forget to give Walter S a special shout out for introducing us all to «Heads Up» That was a really fun way to get everyone interacting. If you don’t have the app yet you should probably go download it.

Oh oh oh… where to begin. What a blast this one was! The good peeps at Unilocal & Liberty Bar came together on one of the most fun and memorable elite events to date!
Show up in PJ’s? Sure, why not-​I mean, I haven’t been to a good theme party since my college days so it was defiantly time for one.
Upon arrival we check in and dawn our name tags and head for the tables. Each table had an assortment of games to entertain even the most ADD of elite (that’d be me people). After a few rounds of Jenga we broke out Heads-​Up and really got the party going. The acoustics in the room made for some crazy noise as multiple tables were playing their own games. The usual elite treats and raffles were on hand as Liberty gave away bottles of wine and gift cards.
Speaking of drinks the staff at Liberty Bar took great care of all our drink and food needs making rounds and replenishing the self-​serve food bar.
All in All easily a 5 Star experience.

That was the most fun I’ve had in a while. It was loud, raucous, and insanely fun! Gloria did a great job organizing the event, and even though we didn’t have a chance to do sleeping bag hop races, because of liability issues, we had tons of fun with Catch Phrase.
Liberty Bar did a wonderful job of not only hosting and setting everything up, but they made sure that we were well taken care of. The food was so good that I had dinner before arriving and still managed to pack in a second round.
I have come to realize that, aside from their excellent food and libations, Liberty Bar is a great place for a party. And it’s all in happenin’ Southtown.
I am appreciative to Gloria and the staff at Liberty Bar for setting up such a memorable evening. It was definitely one for the books!

This was probably the MOST fun I’ve ever had at a Unilocal event! For starters, I’m always down when you tell me dressing like a schlub is not only encouraged, but REQUIRED. It’s not often that I get to dress down THAT much! I arrived, skeptical that other people wouldn’t have dressed up, er, down, to fit the theme but I was pleasantly surprised!
The staff made sure a drink found its way into my hand moments after I arrived and shortly thereafter the food was brought out. Pizzas, salad, and mini cupcakes? Yes, please. Raffle tickets were drawn, best costume was awarded, then we got to the games. Best idea ever goes to Walter S. for bringing out a game called Heads Up. We looked like lunatics playing, but it was so much fun!
Glo and Chelsea put on one hell of a party, yet again!

This was the funnest Unilocal party to date! Gloria did a fantastic job of all the arrangements. Unlimited wine, beer or cocktails? Yes please! I didn’t even have to ask for more wine– before I knew it a lovely server had topped off my glass! The salad and pizza were delicioso! And the games– oh the games! I hadn’t laughed that hard in ages; my abs definitely got a workout. From Mario Bros chess to Jenga and the game on Walter’s phone that had us doing charades for hours! I love the Liberty Bar, and Gloria, and all my Elite Unilocaler Friends! Had a great time, can’t wait for the next one!

What a fun Unilocal event! Really, this was one of my favorites. Liberty Bar graciously hosted all us crazy Unilocalers, and by the way, give us board games are we get crazier! They had yummy pizzas and brownies all night and they just kept coming. As soon as a plate of food was put down, the group would swarm, that’s how good the pizza was! I feel like I am really meeting a lot of fun Unilocalers through the events and so they are becoming more and more fun. It was a GREAT time!

This was something fun to do on a Friday. I liked the atmosphere and everyone looked like they were having a good time. I was wary about showing up in my pajamas though! It turned out that there were many people there in their pjs. The winners for best pajamas were deserving of their awards. The acoustics in the room made it really hard to hear and the noise level escalated as the night wore on, but that’s okay, we were all laughing. Also the restaurant had this funny smell to it that just seemed to linger in the air. It was a little off-​putting. And there /​was/​pizza, which was there and gone as soon as it was served, but I think everyone was able to have a serving. I might mention that I absolutely ABHOR olives. I pinpointed the smell that permeated the room as the olives that were on a few of the pizzas. The restaurant must use these olives a lot because the scent was so strong. Blech. I was unlucky enough to bite into an olive I thought was a piece of mushroom. But it’s not the restaurant’s fault that I don’t like olives.
This was a nice event put together by the Unilocal Elite group and I was glad to have been invited by one of its members. Makes me want to strive to become an Elite myself! The servers were very courteous and friendly. And the hostess was very welcoming and nice. I also won a gift card for $ 10 to Liberty Bar, which was a pretty nice perk. In all, I had a great time.

Again another amazing event! A wonderful Unilocal crowd always makes the event wonderful! Everyone’s PJ’s were a delight and the games were a sight I bet. The Liberty Bar has an amazing staff. They were welcoming and the pizza they served up was delicious. They kept the drinks and mini cupcakes coming all night long.

Another great evening with the Unilocal crowd! Thank you Gloria and Chelsea. I am stunned and amazed by how wonderful and sweet the elites are. It doesn’t matter if you know someone, you just sit down and start a conversation or join into a game with them! This was especially fun at the nifty setting of the Liberty Bar. I can’t tell you how many times I have walked by the Liberty without going inside. That will definitely change. Fun staff nice place and great libations yay!

This was my first time attending a Unilocal elite event. I have to say it deserves a solid five star b/​c it was beyond my expectation for awesomeness!
I was so excited for my first elite event that I forgot to put gas in my car. My car almost ran out of gas on the highway. As a result, I was late for 30 minutes. I didn’t know what to expect and thought I’d get yelled at or something.
Upon entering the door of the liberty bar, I saw Gloria smiling at me then gave me a big hug like we knew each other for a long time. In fact, it was actually my first time meeting her. I felt at home immediately and knew right away that it was going to a great night.
I was blown away by Unilocal elites’ Unilocalness! Unilocalers were so upbeat, welcoming and enthusiastic. I felt I fit right in. The venue was great, the staff at the liberty bar was beyond helpful, the bacon pizza oh is to die for, the games were so much fun even though I didn’t know most of the celebrity names and I always had the hardest animals to guess, shrugs. Not to mention the PJ outfits and drawing of different prices.
Oh you have no idea how grateful I am to be a part of the Unilocal community and a Unilocal elite! Keep the great events coming, baby!

I had so much fun with my fellow Unilocalers screaming out descriptive way to describe animals and movies while playing HeadsUp and causing a ruckus playing Jenga.

My husband and I ventured out in PJs (I bought new slippers just for the occasion), and had the best time! Met really cool people, had really great food and wine, and discovered Heads Up, our new family obsession! The whole evening was a ton of fun and we are so glad we were able to attend! Can’t wait for the next Elite event. it’s going to be tough to top this one!

OMG it was such an awesome event. The Unilocal community in San Antonio seems very open to new people and truly friendly. Overall food was awesome (as it usually is in liberty bar) and the atmosphere was just as great: people were open to talking, playing games and even dressing up in pjs [i have to admit i brought mine in a separate bag just in case people were not into the concept of the party]). The organizing committee did great job in bringing different members together and pulling off such a wonderful event. We’re all different yet the passion for Unilocaling brings us together. Cant wait for what comming :)

Tons of Elites, great food, tasty beverages, the great staff from Liberty Bar and that when all added together equals lots of funtastic fun for everyone.
This is the second Unilocal event at the Liberty Bar this year. Though at different ends of the day both events have been wonderful. Liberty Bar makes a great host. Friendly and helpful. They roll out the red carpet for Unilocalers and treat us like royalty. The pizzas and salads were great.
