Get there before 11AM to ensure you’ll leave with a bag full of amazing food! I’m hoping I/We can convince Isaac to open up a couple more days each week… as I can’t seem to get enough of it on the weekend alone. Who says Barbacoa is only for the weekend? :)

First thing I must say is that the family owned experience was wonderful. The tortillas are authentically homemade and the barbacoa is delicious. What really sold it to me was the welcoming customer service. The owner introduced his family and himself to me and my wife and earned a loyal customer from us. We definitely recommend this place to anyone in the Medical Center area. 5⁄5 Stars!

I pass by Rio’s every single day going home and have always wanted to try it and finally I was able to get up early enough on a Sunday morning to grab some. I’m so glad I did! The owners are extremely nice and the food is amazing. I got the #1 which is a pound of barbacoa plus tortilla n salsa. It’s not greasy which I love. The tortillas are awesome and the salsa gives it a nice kick. I wish I could eat it every Sunday! Make you you go early before they sell out!

I originally grew up in the west side of town, so i have had my share of Barbacoa. This weekend i did not feel like driving all the way to the west side of town, i Unilocaled an area around my house and found Rios Barbacoa, at first i was skeptical because it is off Huebner Rd & Eckhert Rd, The minute i walked in i felt like i was at a Molina on Guadalupe street. The gentleman behind the counter assured me it was the best barbacoa, he let me try a sample and i was hooked. This is a very good place i would recommend it to anyone looking to find a place that is just as good as the west side of town.

Great food. In a family oriented business. Since moving to San Antonio I’ve tried numerous barbacoa spots. This by far is at the top of the list.

Finally! A place where I can get great barbacoa and excellent pork tamales. I walked in and checked out the menu. It’s nice to see they also have a few specials rather than purchasing a la carte. I got the special #2 which consists of 2 pound of barbacoa, 1 dozen tamales, corn tortillas, and salsa. I added a huge avocado to the order and it came out to 24.00 and some change. It’s run by a husband and wife team, along with their daughter who adorably ran the register. They also have a drive thru which you have to drive around the back to get too. Everything was fresh and full of flavor. I would definitely come back here again for a Barbacoa and Big Red Sunday!

Tried Rios for the first time today — excellent Barbacoa and Pork/Jalapeño tamales! Service was fast, easy and friendly and Isaac patiently helped with our first time run through the menu. We will definitely make this our routine Sunday after church stop and hope to enjoy many more meals from Rios!

I am overwhelmed at how awesome this place is. Barbacoa has become a staple in our Sunday mornings. This is by far one of the best barbacoa places I have ever tried. What makes me love it even more is the fact that there is a drive-thru, so I can whip out of bed on a Sunday morning to go pick this up for my family. Also, the service behind the counter is unbeatable. This is owned by a husband and wife team. They are awesome and totally friendly. I love how delicious the barbacoa is. The avocados are always perfect to make some guacamole at home. I just love this place. Come and try it, if you haven’t already! You will not regret it. :-)

Very impressed! On a Sunday went through drive thru — waited maybe 5 mins even with a line :) Isaac at window was very polite, prompt and thanked me for visiting! The barbacoa was very good, tortillas were authentic and pico was fresh… nice! Happy to begin a new Sunday tradition here :) Would highly recommend!

First off the bad: This place is only open Saturday and Sunday from 6:30am to 1 pm. That’s the only bad. I didn’t realize this and showed up right at 1 o’clock. They were actually locking the door as a pulled into the parking space. So I thought I had missed it and started looking on Unilocal for somewhere else to eat. Next thing I know the employee unlocked the door and waved me inside to eat. He had already cleaned the place and locked the door! This is some outstanding customer service. He was out of tortillas. So I got some barbacoa, green salsa, and an avocado. I assume they usually make guacamole and don’t just hand you a whole avocado. The few things I did get were really good. Will be going back to try more. And hopefully I remember to update this review when I do.
