Sky Nails

Got a really nice, reasonably priced mani while on a business trip. A gentleman did a nice job on my nails using Vinylux nail polish ($ 5 extra). I had never used it before and I didn’t want to risk a chip during my stay and it was worth it, lasted a week which is unheard of for non-​gel polish! He was also very fast, he didn’t clean beneath my nails which was a skipped step but luckily there wasn’t noticeable dead skin or dirt but it would have been nice.
If I’m ever in need in San Antonio again, I’ll definitely visit Sky again.

I was in town from Austin and had an hour to kill before meeting a friend for brunch. Sky Nails was nearby so I made sure to arrive when they opened to avoid the typical Saturday rush.
The little town center it’s located in looked pretty nice and upscale so I was excited when I walked in. And then I wasn’t.
I’ve been to a BUNCH of nail salons and they range in service, décor and equipment from super posh day spa to Costco. This was not quite Costco but certainly more of the «affordable» scale. They have all the right equipment but it’s just this side of being fancy.
The male nail tech seemed annoyed at me for some reason didn’t give me any direction on what I was doing so that I could stop it. I am fairly sure I asked for squared nails and got rounded. My painted French manicure was okay considering he free-​handed it, but it would have been much better has he used the template I’ve seen the fancier places use.
Pedi and Shellac fill ran me $ 72, which seems pricey but it was convenient and I was in and out in an hour, as requested. So there’s that.

The fucking worst cut ever. I had to show them how to cut my toes like five times, and omfg this is the worst time I’ve ever had some one do my pedicure and they were mad. The owner had to come and fix it bc the other two were so fucked up! I hate this place and it’s expensive!!! Oh the guy that was doing my toes was told to hurry because someone was waiting for him and he shouldn’t let her wait. So the damn dude was rushing and let me with someone else that doesn’t know what to do… If the owner has to fix shit. It’s bad. This place can go to hell

Coming from the Austin area, I was a bit surprised by the higher prices at the nail salons in this area, as well as the very long waits. We came in for mani-​pedis on a Saturday and waited probably an hour. They graciously let us sit in the pedi chairs while we waited, though, so that was nice, and we were in no rush.
The technicians were polite, friendly and very well skilled. However, I felt that for an upgraded pedicure ($ 50 for the lavender spa pedi), to not include hot stones was kind of a bummer. Also, we were not offered any sort of beverage, though I did hear other customers asking for wine.
It wouldn’t be a girls’ weekend without getting our nails done, but I think next time we’ll save it for the places we know and love in our home towns.

Although this place may look a little fancier and it’s certainly not a bad place to get your nails done… I sincerely feel that Tina’s Nails down the road does a better job.

Stopped in while waiting for car wash. Very clean which is the most important. Friendly and very patient with my daughter who is extremely picky! The price points were fine and I like that they can do creative designs as well. Color selection is wide! Atmosphere is very relaxing not noisy at all even with a packed house.

I have searched for the perfect nail salon in Austin for the past 10 years, and they’ve been mediocre. Sky Nail is the best nail place that I’ve been to in a long time. They’re clean, nice and can do any design. It’s a shame they’re not in Austin, but I will be coming back here whenever I’m in San Antonio again.

Since I’ve moved out of the beloved Monte Vista neighborhood, I decided to try out a new nail place– with my girlfriend– because she will NEVER go anywhere else.
I badly needed a Shellac manicure, picked a color, and sat down at a station. The manicurist is fast and efficient, and put TWO clear coats on top of my nails instead of one. I can definitely tell the difference this makes. I’m on day 4 of my shellac mani and it looks brand new. I was in an out in under an hour, and the mani set me back $ 35.
The ambience is nice– the ceiling is cloud lights, and the music they play (cue Sarah McLachlan and other dreamy songs) is sort of relaxing.
I would definitely return based on how good my manicure is holding up.

I should have gone with my instinct and avoided this place after reading the reviews on this place. My polish is chipping off of my toe nails, not even 3 hours after leaving the salon. Definitely not coming back to this place.

Don’t apologize & ask me if I want you to email me the price list. Just post the prices (at least near the register) & there won’t be a problem for other customers. Give you get other customers.
You’re employees should inform customers if there is any price changes i.e. upgrade. You’re employee charged my friend the quoted $ 40 dollars. Then went back to charge her an addition $ 10 because the employee I had was ripping me off & I called him on it. That’s very bad business. If your employees made the mistake, the customer shouldn’t have to pay the extra price.
I called in advance to ensure there was enough time to get both my friend & I in. The male employee was rushing to go home & did a horrible job on my nails.

The owner personally contacted me this weekend and redid my fingernails. She was very kind and made sure that my nails looked their best! They were shaped perfectly and she was very meticulous with my cuticles. The owners were both very professional and made sure that I was happy with the services. The customer service was great today, and I appreciate the time they took to make my nails look nice without them being polished. They are worth your business and truly respect you as a customer. Thank you again!

I have been to sky nails three times now.
Each time I was greeted with professionalism and in a timely manner.
First, this establishment is very clean. Each time I have asked for acrylic with shellac. I bring in pictures from Pinterest and Kimberly recreates the designs that I ask for. This place is affordable and I love my nails so I will continue coming to this salon as long as I live in SA.

I went in as a walk in. Great pedicure. Very clean, professional and all around just a great experience. When I left I messed up the polish on two of my toes. I went back in to see if I could get it fixed and they didn’t even hesitate to resolve the problem. Love this place.

The people were nice. I came here the day before I give birth and it was about 30 minutes before they closed and I needed a pedi desperately but was only able to get one soon to their closing time. The young lady I got was nice but she didn’t take off all my dead skin on my feet they are still rough, she massaged me like a child would and didn’t even put toe separators on my feet when she painted my nails. The whole process was maybe 25 mins at the most. It was lame and the price was 30 $ I paid 30 bucks for my feet to still be rough and a pathetic foot/​leg rub. I thought if I was pregnant shed at least put some effort into it especially since I said I was getting induced the next day. Very disappointed.

I went in there with my 5 year old for a pedicure. The place was very clean and looked professional. I got a shellac french tip and the lady that gave me a pedicure did such a nice job, without trying too hard! She was a pro! I was very pleased with the paint and the quality of her work. She paid attention to detail and also took my feedback into account.
My daughter had a cute little comfortable chair to sit on and entertain herself.
Though the price may be a little on the high end,
I will come back because I was quite pleased with every aspect of it. I have paid cheaper in many other places but the results usually showed it:(
I think their basic pedicure was for $ 30 with additional for paint, wax, or other additional services.

The manicurist next to mine took the instruments that were just used on me and used them on the next client with out cleaning them with anything. Not even wiping them off. Disgusting. Then it occurred to me that I did not see my manicurist pull out the instruments so I am not sure if they were clean for me. They had them in a pencil box, loose. I did see an autoclave in the place but did not see any instruments in the bags. They did have barbicide at each station but no instruments were soaking. I watched my manicurist dump out the water from my nail soak and put the bowl back in the pile w/​o even rinsing it. The health department needs to visit this place.
Additionally, they sprayed my nails and toe nails w/​alcohol. This dried out my cuticles something fierce. They never put oil or moisturizer on them.
My pedicure is fine. My manicure is terrible. I was excited that they had Vinylux product but they charge $ 5 more for it. Their Vinylux top coat was so goopy it ruined the manicure. I was so disgusted w/​this place I just wanted to leave so I didn’t say anything. I will be using antibiotic ointment on my cuticles for next day or so to combat whatever germs I picked up. Ugh.

I’ve been coming here for over a year. I can say they provide the best service & experience than any other nail salon I’ve visited. Sky nails manis & pedis lasts the longest! Their selection of colors for shellac & opi is endless. It’s conveniently located accross the street from Incarnate Word University. I always get my manis & pedis twice a month here. They know me by my first name and greet me as I arrive. They like to joke with me because I only get two different colors anytime I visit. Music here is soothing, the ceiling is a sky blue color, with clouds and a back light. Clean! Friendly! When I got married they didn’t charge me for my manicure, as a gift. I would never cheat on Sky Nails, for any other nail salon.

This is my nails spot — here’s why:
1) Awesome location. Why don’t I move to Alamo Heights, already? This spot is perfect for after Sunday errands. You could do your groceries, fedex, car wash, bank deposits all in a block’s radius, and then finish out with Sky Nails (they close at 6pm).
2) My coffee pedicure was fantastic, and the polish lasted forever.
3) My gel manicure lasted four weeks, and I would have left it on longer if my nails didn’t grow out. I had asked for 5 – 6 coats (it was a glitter polish), and this poor guy had to spend forty-​five minutes trying to get it off.
4) Service is great. I went in at 5:15 on a Sunday to get my gel off and a new polish. I was the last one there, because it took until about 6:15 to destroy the gel and do a new polish. They never complained or rushed, even though they had to stay open late for me.
This is a GREAT deal at a convenient location. Throw them your business.

My go-​to place! It’s clean, the service is courteous and the experience is so relaxing. The salon plays soft music and smells good and I feel I’ll just fall asleep in the massage chair when I’m getting a pedicure.
It’s a little pricey but the service/​ambiance is superb and makes it worth it.
