My dog needed to have surgery to have bladder stones removed. I made an appointment for her surgery after taking her in for a check up and X-​rays. The day of her surgery I started to worry about how she would take the anesthesia because she’s a bit older. A nurse by the name of Patty came over to talk to me and I started to cry as I asked questions. She kept me very calm and reassured me that My dog would be well looked after. She even told me about the type of anesthesia that would be used and that it was completely safe. Patty also shared a story about how her 15 year old dog had the same surgery and all was successful. Patty sat with me for about 15 minutes just keeping me calm and reassuring me that my dog would revive the best care. She truly helped my nerves and made me feel so much better. I am truly thankful for her time and attention. My dog, Winnie, came out of the surgery perfect and now home and recovering. Thank you, Patty.

Being new to San Antonio we were skeptical when choosing a vet for our child, but the vet and people here are great and super friendly. All the way up to the receptionist trying to slip my boyfriend her number when we were leaving on a business card… can anyone say awkward.
The service and attention to detail by the vet and vet techs though was hands down the best we have received from any vet we have ever been to. Amazing place and staff, thank you for everything and making Jesse feel right at home and taken care of.
Definitely a recommendation for all of our friends and family.

Amazing work. I’ve had bad experiences in the past with pet care providers but all of that seems to melt away when I walked inside. They were helpful, quick, and efficient. I couldn’t have found a better place to get my dogs the care and attention they need.

Dr. Ruiz is an awesome Doctor and the best we’ve had in San Antonio for his knowledge and his «bedside» manner. Not only does he make great decisions but they generally save you money. For example, my small poodle was recently bitten my a large dog on his neck and could have died/​required major surgery by a specialist. But Dr. Ruiz made a great call against doing surgery potentially saving our dogs life (with complications from surgery) and also saving us big money.

My cat Rebel got into a fight and was left with a gash on her chest that was so deep, you could see her muscle and needless to say the whole family was freaked out. We didn’t exactly have money to burn, and it always seems like this kind of stuff always happens when that’s the case, Lol. So, I shopped around for about 30 – 45 minutes (her wound wasn’t gushing blood and she was acting like nothing happened) and the receptionist was very nice. They weren’t the cheapest to have her seen, $ 55, but I decided to give it a go and get poor Rebel the attention she needed. I knew she was going to have to be sedated and get stitches, antibiotics, yada, yada… so I was just waiting to find out that it was going to be at least $ 450 like I was quoted at another office. I was greeted immediately, by a really sweet lady, and was put into a room in less than 30 seconds so Rebel could have the space to try an calm down. The tech came in, and read the situation well… and we got her vitals. The doctor saw me withing 10 minutes of my arrival. Super nice guy, Dr. Baumi. I explained my situation and he did everything he could to help make it as affordable as possible. The doctor called me immediately after surgery to update me, to let me know when I could pick her up and answer all my questions. So, I have the littlest member of my family back, all patched up. They offered to give me a carrier for free to transport her home, I turned it down because I already have one. He told me what to expect and if there was any issue they would take care of it free of charge. Great experience! Its good to know I have a vet for my Kitty, and a good one at that! Love this place! Dr. Musquiz was so gentle and nice with my 8 week old Brody who got his second set of shots. He also was so patient with me, answering all of my questions. Also all of the receptionist were so nice and helpful. THIS IS THE PLACE EVERYONE NEED TO TAKE THEIR PETS!

Even without an appointment we were seen very quickly. The doctor was great, as were the techs and front office staff. Waiting area & exam rooms were clean and tidy.

This was a great facility for my pup. There was plenty of dog meeting space in the lobby and plenty of outdoor space to go to the bathroom in the front of the business. The staff were very helpful when checking us in and they seemed excited about pets. They were in luck because there was a constant stream of people and their pets during my recent Saturday morning visit. They did a good job of getting people in and out in an efficient manner which is always nice when dealing with a stressful dog location.
Once inside the treatment rooms, the dogs are definitely pampered. The vets were friendly and knowledgable. They took good care of my pet and made sure all of his medications were up to date. I was fortunate that this was only a check-​up but I have full faith that these doctors could have handled an emergency or a more pressing situation. I even learned a few things about new flea and tick ingestibles. Overall, I was very pleased with this vet for dog related appointments. I would recommend it any of my four legged friends.

I moved here from Oklahoma and was very worried I would never find a caring vet like the one I had back home. The moment I walked through the doors everyone was very helpful and met all of my needs and then some. Great technicians!!! Dr. Holub was amazing! He took the time to know me and listened to what I had to say. Best place in Texas!

I was really looking forward to using this clinic. It has high reviews on Unilocal.Unfortunately, when I contacted the clinic to schedule an appointment for my cat I was met with poor customer service. First impressions are everything and I am going to take my business elsewhere.

After my daughter took our dog to this vet clinic, she came back with some really expensive heartworm and flea control meds. I went in for a refill, and asked for some thing cheaper. They were helpful by recommending a different brand, and gave me a rebate coupon. Really like that she was so friendly. :)

I love this place!!! I will recommend them to any pet owners and will be a loyal customer as long as I have pets! Dr. Ruiz is the vet I have been seeing and he is awesome! As have been all the staff! Very kind, and loving to the animals and extremely patient in answering all my questions. They take the time to explain everything and all the options. They truly are there to help your animal and they are NOT about making money! They have helped me out now several times when I was in a panic with emergencies and very worried about my puppies. I feel empowered and taken care of every time I visit them! Thank you St. Francis of Assisi! I am so happy establishments and vets like yours exist!

I first want to thank the doc and the staff for being so understanding. My pup is very protective and gave everyone a run for their money today. Regardless of how much my dog wrestled them they were still able to get the job done.
I called ahead and the receptionist answered all of my questions very thoroughly. We were in and out in less than 45 minutes, checked for heart worms and prescribed the medication we needed and got 2 vaccinations.
Really the only thing I can complain about is the heart work medicine was a lot more expensive here compared to other places (same brand and all)
Overall I can now stay at ease knowing my pup was taken care of no matter how much she kicked and screamed. Two thumbs up!

I love St Francis. The prices are reasonable, the staff is awsum and my babies aren’t afraid when we go like they have been at other vets. I love the staff, they are always going the extra mile to make us feel appreciated. It’s the Little things like automatically applying discounts and sending the rebates in for us, they are so thoughtful! The vets are great at explaining everything, very patient with all of my questions (both during visits & by phone) and offering options. I also love that they aren’t pushy. They understand that although we wish we could do everything for our babies medically required right away, that isn’t always possible financially. I recommend St Francis to everyone!

I absolutely love the Vet! However I was told my dog Mickey needed a second booster and a vet tech would be able to do it without and appointment… The dr said this… The front would not allow him to get it without seeing the dr first so that was an added 30 to the already 30 shot. Also he was boarded there and he had a puppy tooth removed I was given a print out of the cost and treatment plan. However when I picked him up they gave him an extra shot for pain that was 47 dollars! My child had a tooth pulled and never received a pain shot or pill! I do love them but they seem to nickel and dime me!!!

I’ve taken a number of pets here over the years, and have always been pleased with the service, efficiency, and empathy exhibited by the entire staff.
On the 4^th of August my son, ex-​wife and I took my late mother’s old cat in to be put to sleep a few weeks after being diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. Dr. Musquiz was the kindest doctor (human or vet) I’ve been to in recent memory. He was extremely kind and understanding, allowing the three of us to have 45 more minutes with our dear Cleopatra (Cleo).
My heartfelt thanks to Dr. Musquiz and the entire staff.

I absolutely love this vet clinic. They take the time to answer all questions and concerns while taking the time to explain everything thing they are doing and, more importantly, WHY they are doing it. They also take the time to get to know you and your pet so they can give you the most information to help treat your pets health issues.

We’ve been bringing our animals to this office since 2008. We have 3 cats and a dog and each time we bring them in we have been completely satisfied. Since we have four animals they offered to get all of their vaccinations on the same schedule so we don’t have to make four separate trips each year. Dr. Ruiz is really great about addressing any questions and/​or concerns that we bring up at each visit.
A few years ago we brought in a stray for a check-​up and saw Dr. Bauml, who was also wonderful.
This veterinary office is amazing. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

My rescued fuzzy girl/​Service Dog in Training is actually happy to go to the vet. She gets excited when we pull up, eager to get out of the car, only to lie down in their large waiting room floor, and just look around. She doesn’t even like the sample treats they keep on the counters! (So picky!) I think she knows that it’s a place where her kind are welcomed. Other dogs appear to be in a good mood while at St Francis, too.
Due to previous abuse, my Little-​Wolf usually has issues with furry faced, human men, but Dr Musquiz causes her absolutely no distress, and he certainly soothes my anxious, first-​time dog-​mom concerns. We’ve dealt with varying levels of allergic reactions, a nasty hot spot, grooming injuries, and weight issues. My billions of questions were answered with clarity, while I was not rushed, and the doc respected my knowledge in certain areas. Her weight issues have finally been resolved, and the hot spot cleared up with the doc’s instructions, but now I have some questions about allergies. I know the doc will be helpful, and I have no anxiety about calling ahead on these matters.
Their staff are all very friendly, and they genuinely care about animals. I’ve seen the women at the desk thrilled to see patients return (I’ve heard «squeee!» so yeah, thrilled applies), and vice versa, with big olé dogs standing up to say hello above the counter, and the ladies reaching out to pet kitties. This is in such contrast to the attitude I saw at my first ever vet visit across town. St Francis made me feel more comfortable about veterinary medicine in general. I wish the VA clinic workers went all «OMG, you’re here!!!» when I show up for an appointment, but then again, I’m not a puppy in a dress.
Their prices are fair, and they haven’t tried to sell me any nonsense. I look forward to our yearly appointment in March, but probably not as much as my fuzzy girl.
