History
Established in 2006.
The Little Aussie Bakery and Café was born in 2006, 3 years after John and Rita, Australian Registered nurses arrived in this country.
The inspiration for The Little Aussie Bakery & Café came from the lack of choices for Rita to feed her family here in the US. John, Rita and their 5 children all follow a gluten free life style, and the choices and knowledge was very lacking in 2003. The idea was to provide delicious wholesome food to people with gluten issues, but both John and Rita agreed that they couldn’t just focus on the gluten intolerant and succeed. Our food had to stand up in its own, and be delicious to the palette of folks who have no dietary issues. The Little Aussie Bakery has excelled their expectations, not only do we have the gluten intolerant crying with joy over our breads, but people with no issues go out of their way to eat with us. We also look after the autistic, dairy, lactose, soy, fructose intolerant folks, and of course vegetarians and vegans.

Business Owner
Rita Sturzbecher has been experimenting with food since she was in her early 20s. A Mother of 5, wife, registered nurse, and foodie. Despite gluten intolerance, Rita always insisted on providing delicious food for her family, including baked goods, and this is still evident today in every thing that comes out of The Little Aussie Bakery and Café. While growing up in Australia, her food influences were very European, her parents and grand parents all migrated to Australia after WW2 and Rita was very strongly influenced in her passion for food by her mother and her grandmother. Good Food was always the center piece of family life, eating, drinking, singing and laughing was what kept joy in family life, and that spirt lives on in The Little Aussie Bakery and Café.
