This is a 2 for 1 review. Based on Dinner Service(1 – 2 Stars) and the Breakfast Buffet(4 Stars) in the morning. Needing to get the granddaughter something for dinner, we decided to stay in and get a couple appetizers for us and some dinner for her. She had the Grilled Cheese with fresh fruit. She had no problem finishing everything off. We went with the Queso and the Sliders. We are Queso snobs at this point in our lives, and when you see Chipotle and Gouda as the ingredients, how can you go wrong… Well It was very wrong! It formed a hard shell on top that took a spoon to break thru. Now the Flavor was good, lacking Chipotle for sure and got rock hard with in 5 minutes… Epic Fail! We also got the Bacon Sliders to share. Those were pretty good. Burgers were a bit over cooked, but good flavor with crisp bacon. Lets Talk Service… Very Lack Luster for the night shift. When asked what beers are on tap… you truly shouldn’t have to go ask what they are. Its something you should ask when you first get to work. Now for the Breakfast Buffet in the Morning… Spot on for what I am looking for. Service outstanding… Lots of options, Eggs, Potatoes, Bacon, Sausage, Biscuits, Pancakes, ETC… I made sure to eat my fair share to cover the un-disclosed $ 25 «Self» parking fee. We all left packed out and satisfied.

The breakfast buffet is very good and the service could not have been better. Also has a very nice view of the river. I would definitely go again.

Food pretty standard, but the service is great! Even on the upper level, you have a decent view of the river. Perfect for breakfast with the kids on the last day of our vacation, especially since they were free!

Terrible! The website pics are misleading. This is a Denny’s type restaurant in the bottom of a hotel. The décor is super dated, and the menu is over priced diner food. Don’t be fooled by the name of the restaurant! We left after we received our waters.

Local based restaurant but food wasn’t that great. I got the filet mignon which was disappointing. Each bite of meat was a burnt and gassy taste. Came with a side of frozen veggies that were only heated up. The caesar salad was good. The steak salad was overdressed to the point where the lettuce was a droopy mess. The steak was good though. They said that the chicken noodle soup was homemade but I highly doubt it. Tasted like Campbell’s straight out of the can. The pecan pie was overly sweet with stale pecans. Service was good but the plates were dirty.

The food is good. The service is ok. It’s definitely worth the coupon at … but for a true riverwalk experience, I’d probably go elsewehere.

Three friends and I ate here Saturday night before the symphony for the simple reason that we could park free and leave our car there and walk to the Majestic theatre. The food was not bad, but just mediocre at best. We got a plate of beef nachos for an appetizer which were fine. We all ordered the fried shrimp plate. We chose to get two orders and share because the menu said it had 8 shrimp which sounded like a lot. However, the shrimp were quite small. As someone else said the french fries were good. The vegetable was green beans which had very little taste. There was no salad with the meal and I realized that we got no dinner rolls either. I asked for rolls and the waitress kind of looked at me funny. What she came back with was a plate of barely toasted Texas toast! Then I had to ask for butter and she had to make another trip. She truly acted like no one had asked for rolls before. I really would hesitate to eat there again, even for free parking.

A friend of mine wanted to try this place out– she bought the same coupon that the other reviewer had(it was something like $ 25 off if you spend $ 35) The restaurant is located in the Holiday Inn downtown and the restaurant validates parking! The place was empty– like Victor said, the place is a three-level restaurant. We were given the option to sit on the top level or the next one down. So we were in the middle. It was ok because the river is drained this time of year … so nothing to look at(but during Christmas, I’m sure its beautiful) The menu didn’t have many options … but we found stuff. I had the Greek Salad(it was SOOO good) and I had the quesadillas(without the meat) they were very good. My friend had the fish and the Greek Salad as well. Then we finished the night sharing the brownie mudslide desert. Our bill(after the coupon) came out to $ 20.41 for the two of us– not too bad! This place was very nice– and I’d like to go back … but only with the coupon.

Windows on the River offers a peaceful and elegant view of the river as it runs through downtown San Antonio. Located inside the Holiday Inn Riverwalk, Windows is a three-level restaurant with a menu that’s not anywhere near as pleasing as the view. I had chicken fried rib-eye that was covered in a peppercorn gravy with mashed potatoes. This place makes good potatoes. The mashed potatoes were moist with peels inside. The chicken fried rib-eyed was bland, nothing to separate it from other chicken fried steaks. At $ 14 with a mixed vegetable medley. Simply not worth it. My partner had a steak($ 19(that was good, but ordinary. Her french fries were seasoned well(again potatoes good). I wouldn’t recommend this place. There’s many other better places in San Antonio. The service was slow, unattentive and they seated us on the second level rather than first level with the river. An empty restaurant? Seat everyone all on the river please. Also it’s located in a less than savory part of the riverwalk, so I wouldn’t recommend walking the riverwalk from there. I had a coupon which made it a better deal, so if you’re going here, make sure you get that first.
