History

Established in 1946.

Charles Scott, (Scotty) started in 1946 at a small location located at 4th and «I» st. in San Bernardino. When the (now) 215 freeway was built, he was re-located to make room for the freeway. There have been a few different locations around San Bernardino through the years, but the most memorable was the location at 2nd and «G». This location was taken by the city for redevelopment, and the business was moved to Baseline and «E», in 1978, where it is today. The tradition of exceptional work at a good value has lived on at Scotty’s for all these years.

Meet the Business Owner

Tom F.

Business Owner

Tom has owned Scotty’s Muffler & Brake since 1990. Tom began tinkering with cars before he got his drivers license. This hobby turned into a living in 1978, when he went to work in a shop doing brake and exhaust work. It was just a couple of years later and Tom was a part owner in a custom muffler shop in Hawaii. It was here that Tom honed his skills in the ‘real’ custom exhaust world, building headers for sprint cars and hot rods. In the early 80’s, Tom returned to California and started a mobile muffler service. He would go to the customers location and perform the work on the spot. This was very successful, and by 1990, Scotty was heading into retirement, so the move to Scotty’s Muffler was the natural next step. With his entire adult life spent in the custom exhaust business, Tom has the experience to handle any exhaust and brake problem that comes up.
