Dr. Wayland is a general dentist who limits his practice to the removal of teeth, especially wisdom teeth, with IV and oral sedation. Bay Area IV Wisdom was founded in 1989 after several dentist friends asked him to help their patients with wisdom teeth removal. The company has provided comfortable wisdom teeth removal with anesthesia for more than 50 dentists in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Dr. Wayland is a diplomat in the International Dental Implant Association and a former faculty member at UCLA and UCSF schools of dentistry. He is ACLS certified and is a sedation evaluator for the California Dental Board.

Dr. Wayland is a 1981 graduate of UCSF School of Dentistry and is a former faculty member and instructor at UCSF and UCLA School of Dentistry.
He is a California Dental Board On Site Sedation Evaluator, California Sedation Permit 163, ACLS Certified, former Doctors Hospital Staff, Alumnus of LD Pankey Institute, Las Vegas Institute. He is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and Diplomate in the American Dental Implant Association.
The Academy of General Dentistry Fellowship is a distinction held by less than one percent of all dentists in the United States. The award requires 500 hours of course study, a comprehensive written exam, and a minimum of five years to complete.
International Dental Implant Association Diplomate Certification requires 350 hours of course study, written examination, and oral examination.
Dr. Wayland also holds Master status in the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
