After further communication with Chuck I believe he truly has the best of intentions for all his clients and can follow up with excellent customer service after disappointments.
Since our calls weren’t returned at the time, further attempts seemed futile and we moved on.
While my initial review for Chuck’s business points Unilocalers elsewhere for a Realtor, I can now say that Chuck would be worth your time. Our perception has changed and good customer service makes it OK. Unilocal’s 3 star «A-​OK» rating is more appropriate than my original review.

Chuck is super friendly, knowledgeable and very responsive to our questions (and there were many) both during the house search and during the paperwork-​filled closing period. He took us to showings as if he were buying the house himself instead of as an agent thus pointing out both the goods and the bads, never pressuring us to make a move. Chuck is the most available, well connected realtor out there. He responds almost immediately at any time on any day. He knows San Carlos intimately and knows the specs on every property for sale in the town at all times.
He is patient and not pushy at all and knows house construction, inspections, appraisals, etc. top to bottom. Also, he is a closer. If you find a property you like, Chuck is your best bet for getting you across the finish line.
In short, we highly recommend him.

We found Chuck on Unilocal and called him. I left a message saying that I needed some advice on whether we should fix up and rent our townhouse, sell as-​is to some acquaintances who had made an unsolicited offer, or fix up and sell on the market. Chuck called me an hour later with some immediate comments, then arranged to meet at my vacant property that evening. When he arrived, he had printouts of 2 recent sales. The next day, he did research on sales within the last 3 years. We spoke on the phone and had a long conversation on my options and the details of the unsolicited offer.
I found Chuck to be very helpful, informative, fairly informed (he is not a Redwood Shores waterfront expert), straightforward and upfront. He gave me all this advice but did not push me to market the house nor push me to sign a contract with him.

We chose Chuck as our real estate agent based on his website and a face-​to-​face meeting (we did not have a personal referral). He helped to make our first-​time home-​buying process as smooth as possible. For us, he was the perfect agent. He was well-​informed, reliable, available, on-​the-​ball, friendly, pleasant and an all-​around great guy. Chuck is not the pushy saleman type, but provides advice when asked. He seemed completely honest and above-​board in his approach. He is meticulous and his attention to detail was very reassuring (compared to seller’s agent who seemed scatterbrained). Chuck knows San Carlos intimately, which is where we wanted to buy; when we ended up going with a different town, he was flexible and accomodating. Highly recommend!

Chuck is an exemplary realtor that I recommend wholeheartedly. On the one hand, he’s a throw-​back to the old-​school agent — scrupulously honest and dedicated to service and his clients’ well-​being. On the other hand, he’s from tech industry and extremely tech savvy, and responds to texts, e-​mails, and cell phone at all times. In fact, I first found Chuck through his blog at

My wife and I were looking for our first home, and we had some pretty specific requirements, from aesthetics (contemporary if possible, lots of character) to location. Chuck personally took us to about 50 properties (we were picky, and easily visited another 100+ open houses ourselves), and we were meeting with him weekly or bi-​weekly for literally months on end. He never complained about this, nor did he ever try to push us into homes that we weren’t interested in — we never felt that he was looking out for a commission as opposed to our interests. He took us to properties in San Carlos and Belmont, but also further down in the peninsula where he is still very knowledgeable (Menlo Park, Los Altos, Palo Alto) as our needs changed. He would even pre-​visit properties we were curious about during weekdays, to determine if it was worth our time to see them with him again later on in the evenings. Who does that? His personality is great — low key, knowledgeable, and mellow most of the time, but he can crank out the tough negotiating intensity at a moment’s notice. It’s exactly the right combination for an agent, and a far cry from the smarmy, plastic, or «phony» personalities some agents seem to have.
Chuck also knows his stuff, which is of course crucial in the Bay Area real estate market. His pricing analysis for properties was very good, and we especially liked how he would inspect all the houses we looked at for structural and foundation issues — i.e. things that we would often miss. Chuck especially proved his knowledge during tense offer negotiations, persistently gleaning important information from listing agents and providing scenarios to us that, later on, turned out exactly to be on target. We ended up purchasing in Palo Alto, and Chuck more than proved his mettle in PA’s unique real estate fast lane in some crazy multiple-​offer situations. He was available around the clock, whether writing offers and counters at 9am or 9pm, looking at properties during a holiday, or cajoling a listing agent at 11pm to *get in her car and make her clients sign the deal* before midnight (when our counter expired).
Chuck paid for himself in spades. Yes, we could easily have gone with Redfin or some other realty like that, but wouldn’t have been able to tour and receive the in-​depth information on the many homes all along the peninsula that we needed, as well as the in-​depth negotiating skill of an agent that knows our needs, and has been there since day 1. The main downside to finally closing escrow was that we’d no longer need to hang out with Chuck on a weekly basis, which had become one of the best parts of the whole process. He’d become a friend. So — if you’re looking for a realtor you can trust in the peninsula, and especially in San Carlos /​Belmont /​RWC, it’s a no-​brainer.

I love working with Chuck because he is very knowledgeable in the Real Estate process and will not rest until problems are solved. Much of his success is due to his unparalleled service and professionalism. His clients have always received service that is far above what is expected — with outstanding communication and incredible efficiency. His professionalism and extraordinary work ethics make for a smooth transaction every time!

I have worked with Chuck on several occasions now as his photographer. The thing I noticed right away was how gregarious he was — He’s human, down to earth, and easy to talk to. Chuck is definitely not a pushy salesman, but more of a knowledgeable adviser who is willing to share valuable insight.
As a highlight, I just found out the last house he sold had eleven offers on it when it sold! How’s that for an effective agent?
