Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott

We stayed here one night and it was ok. Nothing great, nothing horrible. The room was ok, the breakfast was ok, the workout room was ok. We had a view of the pool which is a very basic pool in the parking lot. If you are looking for something close to the freeway but far enough away to not here it this is a good place to stop.

The elevator was broken and we could hear the planes taking off outside our window. When I talked to a staff person, she didn’t look up from her typing/​screen once.

I stay here pretty frequently while in town for work. I get that this is supposed to be Marriott’s bargain brand, but for the rate they charge the amenities are severely lacking.
The wifi is free but atrocious. I’m currently in my room writing this review on my phone’s 4G because if I was connected to the hotel’s wifi it probably wouldn’t upload.
The breakfast is about what you would expect — anything hot has been microwaved. There are various cereals and breads, yogurt, etc. One plus is the coffee which isn’t horrible.
Don’t expect any HD TV in your room. Most of the channels are sports and news. There is a microwave and fridge if you have need for it.
I know these things sound nit-​picky but this place charges upwards of $ 300 a night.

I’m Marriott Platinum Premier and had such a negative experience here.
They placed us in a horrible handicapped hotel room which I didn’t book.
There were two of us and they room only had one Queen bed.
The bath room had one of those chairs for handicapped people. See picture
The night audit gentleman, who is usually very nice, at the front desk was on a personal call as we walked in kept running back to chat on his call every time i stepped away from the front desk. I understand making personal calls if you’re the only one there, after all what else are you going to do, but not while a customer is there.
Since I was I satisfied with the room I asked if he could call around area Marriotts while I did also. He said that everywhere in the Bay was sold out but when I called I found several places with rooms. At that point it was too late and too much of a hassle.
I used to stay here often but I won’t be staying here again.

I had an interview in Palo Alto but all the nearby hotels were super expensive that week (I’m assuming for the lunar new year). I asked my dad to use his Marriott points and he snagged me a room at Fairfield Inn.
My room was clean, spacious, the bathroom light was a bit dim, but the water pressure was nice.
I wish I had known about the exercise room! But I was only there for the night and I was scrambling doing some last minute errands. When I came back from dinner they had cookies for their guests by the front desk :)
And their complimentary breakfast in the morning wasn’t bad either. Although there weren’t any waffle makers or fruit as mentioned in another review.
Super easy check in (they let me check in 2 hrs early), check out, I would definitely recommend this place!

Run down, security cameras everywhere which doesn’t make me feel like my car is going to be there in the AM. Dirty and old. This is not a Marriott. It feels like a super 8. GROSS!

The staff was very friendly and they had free parking. The free breakfast was also a nice feature with lots of breakfast options. I did enjoy that they always had ice water and coffee in the lobby. The cookies at the front desk were also yummy!

Was in the area for my cousins wedding and my relatives choose this location since it was close to the ceremony and affordable. Free breakfast and parking an extra plus plus!!!
Right off the 101 highway. It’s a small hotel with one elevator (I think there were 3 stories). Room key used to access multiple entrances around the property. About 20 minutes from SFO Airport and about 30 minutes from the city.
Continental breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage patties, pastries, waffle maker, cereals, yogurt, boiled eggs, milk, juice and coffee. Had it for 3 days and didn’t get tired of it. Loved that the coffee was served all day!
Room included a mini fridge and microwave. Sink is located on the outside of the restroom (great for getting ready with multiple people in the room).
If you need more privacy or plan on having guests visit opt for the 2 bedroom. Both rooms have doors to the hallway and in one bedroom Is a King bed, adjoined to another room with a sofa bed and you get 2 restrooms out of it too! Great for families too! I had an infant with me and the outside sink was great for cleaning bottles and the second restroom great when there were several of us getting ready for the wedding.
No general store, but they do have a small selection of items available for purchase through the front desk if you need a snack or some basic supplies.
Didn’t utilize the outdoor swimming pool or the gym on the 2^nd floor but nice to know those options were available for us.
The staff is great!!! Check-​in was easy, when I asked about distance to the city they were very helpful and gave us maps. When I checked out I had left my checkbook in our room and when I called back later in the day they had found it and mailed it back to me the next day. I was so thankful they were so helpful.
I know staying in large hotels are always nice and they may have the newer and fancier appeals to them up have upgraded amenities, but staying in these business hotels that are simple and small always is a nice change.

Not a 4 stars like some of the reviews indicates. more like a 2 stars hotel. Small, outdated rooms.

Had a great stay here. Beds are super comfortable. Staff was all so friendly. Convenient access to freeway, overall great 3night stay! Will absolutely stay here again!

Small and quite hotel off highway 101. Clean room, free breakfast (waffle makers, eggs, sausages, apples, bananas, milk, oranges, yogurts, coffee and etc.), and free WiFi. A mini fridge and microwave. Simple and neat.
Small exercise room on 2^nd floor with two trend mills. A starting at 3 feet deep pool in front of entrance. No diving.
Friendly & helpful staffs. Will definitely come back here again.

It’s a good hotel. It’s quiet and close to laurel st in San Carlos where u can go for dinner (driving distance). The room smelled good when we got in, very clean. Sheets and pillows r great. Bathroom is small but oh well…
The décor in the room is nice.
They offer complimentary bfast.

I would stay here again in a minute. Hotel is extremely clean, beds are comfy. Nice breakfast (waffle maker, cereals, oatmeal, yogurt, eggs, sausage, breads/​bagels/​muffins, fresh fruit, etc). Coffee all day long in the lobby. Pool was very clean, staff was very friendly and attentive. You are right next to the freeway and a small airport, and the room was still quiet. Suggestion… ask for a room away from the lobby because breakfast can get noisy. We stay in room 240 and it was perfect. Also, take a quick drive to downtown San Carlos on Laurel Street as there are lots of nice café’s and coffee houses there.

Nice location next to the San Carlos Airport with clean rooms and a quiet atmosphere. The breakfast area is way too small for the size of the hotel. All three mornings found me balancing my food on my lap since all 20+ seats in the dining area were full. Overflow into the rather small lobby. Not good at all!

I can’t say enough good things about this hotel; but, I will try (I’m rarely short on words). From the moment I walked in the door, it was a great stay. I was greeted by 2 very nice people — they were so friendly and helpful. I stayed here 6 nights, and each hotel employee I encountered was nicer than the next. I like that.
My room was big and spacious with 2 queens, a desk, frig and microwave, and lots of natural light. The vanity/​sink is long and outside of the toilet/​shower area (I like that too). This hotel is right next to a small municipal airport, which was a non-​issue. My window faced that airport and I never heard anything from it. Every now and again while I was in the back parking lot, I heard a small plane take off, but even that was rare. If being by an airport is keeping you from staying here, don’t let it. It was no problem at all.
There’s a really nice gyn on the second floor. Oh, I’m not saying I used it — I only know it was there because I passed it every day on the way to my room. There’s also a coin-​laundry room on the first floor with 1 washer and 1 dryer. Both worked well.
The location was excellent for me. I was visiting family in Woodside, and I was still close enough to San Fran to jump on the freeway and go north a little ways and be there. You get the close proximity without the huge pricetag in San Fran. But, this place is expensive — make no mistake — but I found it to be the cheapest in the area with good reviews. This area of California is ridiculously expensive, so the price I found here was lower than everywhere else I looked.
My room was clean and fresh, with wonderfully comfortable bed and pillows. It was overstuffed, firm and cozy. Plenty of clean towels and the bathroom was spotlessly clean.
The breakfast in the morning was great. It’s simple continental stuff — with hard boiled eggs and some egg sandwiches you can nuke — lots of bread, muffins, waffles, cereals, etc. That kind of breakfast is perfect for me. The area was always well-​stocked and clean. There was a gentleman some mornings, and a lady others. Both, where just so nice!
There’s free parking and EXCELLENT wi-​fi. I am writing this from a different city in a hotel that has horrible wi-​fi. So, I appreciate the good wi-​fi.
I-​101 is right in front of the hotel, and all the other major roads are nearby. There’s a Burger King a few steps from the hotel, but nothing else. You need a car if you stay here — there isn’t anything within walking distance. A couple exits up north or south and you’ll find lots of stores like Target, grocery stores, etc.
I enjoyed my stay here very much. It is definitely one of the better Fairfield Inns I have stayed in. Again, the staff made the stay so pleasant. When in this area, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else. Can you tell I liked the hotel?!

Spacious suite. Free hot breakfast (no eggs/​sausage, but they have microwavable breakfast sandwiches and pancakes).
Quick, easy, hassle-​free.
Their comp shuttle only goes 5 miles.

It’s a weird thing when you sit down to write a hotel review for a place that was pretty ok and then realize that, no, it really wasn’t.
The beds were fine, the little workout room was fine, the staff was fine. The price was fine.
But several things were NOT fine.
One day they didn’t make up our room because the housekeepers thought there was somebody in it still. Umm. could you have knocked to check? When we queried the front desk, they said they had called the room to see if we wanted it cleaned or not but nobody answered. Err… if you call the room… and nobody answers… maybe there’s nobody there?
At the breakfast, several people poured milk onto their cereal, only to discover that it had gone bad inside the little cartons. When this was mentioned to staff, we did not observe any action to clear out the remaining cartons. Blech.
Lastly, and this is a biggie, security was fairly lax. Several times we needed to get our card-​keys remade (blame the magnets in Herself’s purse), and never once did the staff (who was different each time, and unknown to us) ask for ID or a name to confirm that the room we wanted a keycard for was, actually, our room.
Bottom Line: Hmmm. I wonder if room 325 has cool stuff in it…

Great price and it did the job of keeping me sheltered. It’s right next to the fwy & airport! Not my first selection, but I did not know better. I picked this hotel because it was close to SF (20 minute drive) without the crazy SF prices. If you have a car, than u can stay here and save urself a few hundred bucks! but there are better hotels up the way. The first desk is helpful are helpful, the park is fair, could be better and more in the front. the breakfast okay; if u have a restaurant u’ve Unilocaled or want to try a restaurant for breakfast/​early lunch than pick it over the hotel food; nothing bad it’s just basic food. The room had a microwave and refrigerated; which made it easy to store, handle, and reheat food.
Minus stars for horrible air circulation & old furnishings. Kept waking up with dry mouth and AC only made it more difficult.
Thjs place did the job & it’s perfectly fine, but if u want a place closer to SF go up the fwy.

I come down to this area frequently and this area just outside of Redwood Shores is perfect.
I agree with the other reviewers the hotel is still new and nice hasn’t got to the run down stage and some hotels do.
I love the refrigerator and microwave in the room that way if you have just a few things with you. You are able to store them away and not pay $ 2.00 for a soda from the machine.
The breakfast daily is great. I like that you can go and help yourself and don’t have to rush out to find a breakfast somewhere else.
I belong to the Marriott Rewards Club so that is definitely worth it as you can receive free nights stay with a certain number of points.
My overall experience with this hotel has been great! I’ll definitely go back again.
