I hate having to write a negative review, but we had a terrible experience with Francisca. We went to her for the first time today to cut my 13 year old son’s hair. He came in with longish hair that fell about an inch over his eyes and about half way down his ears. I was with him when he explained what he wanted — a little bit shorter on the sides and back and still a pretty long sweep (to his eyebrows) on the front/​top. A trim. After he gave her a detailed description of what he wanted, I shared with her that a few years ago he’d had a bad experience with another stylist who gave him a buzz cut when he’d asked for a trim — and I jokingly asked her not to repeat that trauma. We also told her that he’s leaving for sleep away camp in a few days and needed a «no maintenance» cut that didn’t require any product.
A few minutes later she came to me and said «Your son is upset, he thinks I cut too much». I went over to the chair and was totally stunned to see that she had buzzed his hair! She had only done the sides and back when he stopped her, but at that point I had to let her take a lot off the top too because it looked ridiculously out of proportion. So I just had to stand there and watch his eyes fill with tears as she gave him an all around super short haircut! You can literally see his scalp through the fuzz that’s left. And although she did blend it in a little, it still has a mushroom feel with the whole top section out of proportion with the bottom 2/​3s. It looks like a ridiculous 80’s boy-​band wannabe cut with the added bonus of random chunks cut into it and lots of uneven areas.
I asked why she’d done that and she said «oh, it was a miscommunication» She basically just shrugged it off and told him «you’re a boy — it’ll grow back quickly» and «if you use enough gel it will lay down flat» (again, we specifically said he needed a style that DIDN’T require a lot of work this summer!) She did finally apologize but clearly had no real sympathy for him and how upsetting it is to be a kid that age and have all your hair chopped off unexpectedly! She kept telling him how good it looked. (Which is not true — it looks awful). But even if it did technically look good, the point is it was exactly the opposite of what he wanted.
She didn’t charge me «because you’re not happy with it». That was a nice gesture, but believe I’d much rather have paid full price and had a kid who was happy — not in tears.
I gave two stars (instead of 1 or zero) because the salon itself is very nice. They were great during the scheduling process, have a nice coffee station with cookies for guests, and have a generally nice atmosphere. I’d just advise working with Francisca for a boys haircut — maybe she’s better at other things.

Great place to get a haircut, everyone there is nice. Irina did a great job cutting my hair. My new place to get haircuts at! Whatever I showed her she managed to make my hair the same.

Irina is the best hairstylist, she transformed my grandmother hairstyle to a modern day look. She always recommends the cuts that go with my features and the way she colors my hair, she took me from boring brunette to exciting blond highlights. Irina is always friendly and tries to accomidate my schedule. I don’t know what I would have done if Irina didn’t come into my life.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Irina is extremely talented and knows how to match the pictures you bring in. She’s just the sweetest thing and makes you feel veg relaxed and comfortable. I had extremely long, damaged hair and Irina completely transformed it! Before coming in, I had not gotten my hair cut in nearly 3 years. I was terrified because past hair stylist would completely mess up my hair and it wouldn’t look anything like I wanted it to. Irina went beyond my expectations and I will always come back to her to get my hair done. :)

Rosemary did my highlights again, and I loved it! The hair remained silky and the color looks natural and healthy! Thank you again Rosemary!

Wow! Rosemary is awesome! She gave me the best hairs I’ve had in while. Cut, color and dry and she takes her time to ensure you get the hairs you want! She did color and highlights on me and it looks amazing. She also is super friendly and just overall great gal! I will definitely return and very happy with my new head of hairs. Thanks so much!

I got a haircut elsewhere a while back and it looked cute when the hairdresser styled it, but awful every day after. I came in to headlines to see if someone could fix it up, and Suzie Haket sat me down, gave me advice and gave me a great haircut that I have actually been able to style on my own. Even though I really didn’t know what I wanted and communicated what I was looking for pretty poorly, she was able to work with me and get me a haircut I could really be satisfied with! Suzie is super efficient and friendly and open to input. I really felt like her goal was to give me the haircut I wanted. Highly recommended!

Suzie did a great job on my hair with permanent waves and a nice haircut! I am ready to go and visit her again! My hair never looked as good as now! Quality products and professional hands!

Nargess Mostofian has been really the most patient and beautiful hairstylist ive ever had. I have very curly hair quite hard to style and take care of. She has shown me how and styled my hair like noone else ever has. I love her. She’s the best.

I’ve been seeing Fran on and off since I was in grade school and she never fails to disappoint! I explored other stylists when I moved across the bay but no one compared to her skill level. Overall, Fran knows what she’s doing.

Rosemary at Headlines has been cutting and highlighting my hair for over ten years, and the results are always the very best. For a professional cut, color and style you can’t do better than Rosemary. Headlines is a great shop with great people working there.

I moved to the area about six months ago, and of course you’re nervous about who your hair stylist should be. Well, I let my sister do all the leg work. She had moved here a few months before me, and had found Nina somehow (I’ll have to ask her how later). Anyway, who cares! Now we have Nina!
I have very long brown straight hair and bangs. My sister is also a brunette with a lot of body to her hair — no bangs. My sister and I both get our hair colored, although I think my sister just does highlights. Up until meeting Nina, I liked to go with just one color all over. I’m a woman in my late 30s, and I just felt like this is a professional look. Well, Nina has me rethinking this whole thing.
Nina is such a smart, creative person. She takes workshops and classes in her off-​time and thinks about you and your hair when she’s not at work. I went in the other day, and she said, oh, I was thinking about something we could try. And it came out amazing. She put in these darker panels of color in my hair paired with a kind of auburn color we’ve been going with. She would probably cringe if she saw this review because I’m sure I’m not doing this justice. It’s like if someone else tried to describe my job and didn’t say it right.
Let me put it this way: My hair still looks incredibly classy; she has put in a few subtle layers; I still have kick-​ass bangs; but it’s fresher than before; I feel more confident than before; there’s something more modern that makes me walk taller than before. So if you know anything about hair, ignore the technique I was describing, which is undoubtedly a disaster and just try Nina out. Also, you’ll just love her because she’s truly a wonderful person. And I’m not just saying that.

This review is a bit overdue, but I want to post it. I have to say, I don’t understand this salon. A few months ago, I made an appointment for a haircut (which in most salons usually includes a shampoo — or at least a wet-​down) and a basic styling afterward.
What I got was a dry haircut that was done so fast, you’d think the stylist was in «4x fast forward.» I practically had an anxiety attack sitting in the chair, the hair was flying off my head at such rapid speed in large chunks. No shampoo or wet down, no styling afterward. The stylist was really rushed and I didn’t get the sense that she was listening to me. (And yes, I had an appointment; I was not an unexpected «walk-​in»).
Since I didn’t have a shampoo or a style done, I had no idea whether the haircut was good or whether it would need correction. I walked out there feeling like a nervous wreck — not the sort of feeling you want to have after visiting any salon! I don’t know what everyone is raving about. I’ll never go back here again! I felt like I was at SuperCuts but paying triple the price!

It doesn’t get better than Francisca!
I recently moved here from the Midwest. I have always been a little scared to get my hair done because every time I went they never listened. I love to keep long hair even if it may be disgusting and dead. I have also taken pictures in to show people what I want yet every time I finally caved it wasn’t close or they cut off way to much. Hard stylists are hard to come by. Francisca not only is extremely personable but an amazing stylist. I showed her exactly what I wanted and bam that’s what I got! I have never actually reviewed on Unilocal even though I use Unilocal constantly but she deserves the 5 stars. I would recommend her to everyone (even if your nervous)!

Emily is AMAZING! The before and after pictures speak for themselves! They’re located in my picture gallery… I found her on Unilocal and was impressed by all the good reviews she had so I decided to check it out for myself… We had a consultation appointment and I could immediately tell that she really knew her stuff. If you’re going to make a drastic change to your hair, you want to work with someone that is not only skilled but also knows their product– and that would be Emily. :)
I called, met up with her less than a week later and just two days after our consultation, we were able to sit down and put them in. Amazingly fast!
We did all over tape-​in hair extensions and I was blown away by the results. I looked like a completely different person but in a new and improved sorta way. :) Even the woman sitting next to me getting her hair done was intrigued and started inquiring about hair extensions LOL.
This is one of the only hair stylists that I think I’d feel comfortable enough recommending to all my friends– Emily just knows her stuff (and uses a lot of Bumble and Bumble products too, yay!) but she’s also the type of hairstylist that wants you to leave the salon looking and feeling good. It doesn’t hurt that she’s pleasant to be around either. 5 stars all around!
Side Note:
I meant to put this review up nearly a month ago but was slightly sidetracked by gnarly food poisoning (Cho mien never again…). But the plus side is that at least my hair looked fabulous! :D

Last review I was thrilled with my extensions, now I have the perfect ombré! A huge thank you to Emily for making me gorgeous (as always). The labor and care she put into this color job, really made all of the difference. I’ve found my hairstylist, til death do us part ;)

When my usual hair girl went on paternity leave, I found Emily Wyant for a substitute color and cut. I was soooo impressed, I ditched my old stylist, and have been going to her ever since.
Not only is she amazing at BOTH cuts and color, but she has given me some of the best at home hair styling advice I’ve ever heard! She has seriously changed the way I do my hair for the better!
Can’t recommend her enough!

I felt very welcome when I arrived for the first time at the salon. I have to say that I felt right at home, and that is something that is usually hard to do, especially on the first visit.
Everyone was very friendly, whether working with a client or not, everyone is greeted warmly.
I worked with Emily and can I just say «WOW» one more time?!
Emily has set the bar very high and I have no doubt that she will exceed her performance today with every future visit. Professional, warm, attentive and spot on with everything she did and suggested. She not only met my expectations, she surpassed them. Love the color, love the cut and just adore Emily.

I highly suggest meeting with Emily or from what I saw, heard while there and what I have read — anyone at Headlines, tell them what you are thinking and get down to business.
When you read reviews, you tend to take them with a little grain of salt. Umm, however when it comes to this salon — you can take it all at 100% face value.

I was looking for a new hair stylist to help me make some serious changes to my hair and look. Naturally I have thick black wavy hair and I wanted to go lighter towards a more blonde caramel brown mix without any tacky highlights.
I was also looking for someone to help me with superior gray coverage and a look that just naturally blended well. I am trying to grow my hair longer and wanted to go through this process with minimal damage to my hair from bleaching and without thrashing it completely.
I found Headlines on Unilocal and got an appointment with Nina. From the minute I met Nina she and I just clicked. She was very easy going and made me feel comfortable. She knew her concepts well and gained my trust very fast. She understood exactly what I was looking for and was very creative and enthusiastic with her ideas.
I have been getting my hair done by Nina for 3 months now and every experience has been excellent. She is very talented with hair color and styling. She helped me understand my hair and helped me eliminate the tons of products I was using and spending my money on. Nina guided me to stick with fewer and more superior products.
I highly recommend Nina since she is very passionate about her job and extremely driven to make sure her customers always get what they want and every experience is great form start to end. She keeps up to date with her knowledge, skills and the new styles in hair. She owns it all the way and is a true MIRACLE WORKER!

We all dread finding a new stylist. Because you really don’t know what you’re going to get until the deed’s been done. And it requires a lot of shopping around before you find «The One.» Fortunately for me, she’s local and had a fairly open & accommodating schedule. Her name is Emily Wyant, and she’s a peach!
When I initially made my appointment at Headlines I was a little nervous because I hadn’t been able to find any reviews on her, but the receptionist assured me that she had a ton of experience and I would be happy with the results. I scheduled an appointment for a haircut and color. still skeptical!
On the day of my appointment, I tentatively sat in my chair and watched the magic unfold. She was amazing! I think she understood my needs right away and opened up a dialogue about my hair and addressed all my concerns. I would hate to be my own stylist because I think I can be very challenging, but she took it all in stride and asked me questions before making any major decisions about my bangs, or the way my hair would layer, the tone and color, heaviness, etc. I walked out of the salon that day very, very pleased.
About two days later; however, I noticed that my hair had too much brassiness/​red for my taste. I just sent her a text message and she scheduled me in for the following day– Just like that!
When I came in she took a look at my hair color and recommended a blue toner. While we were waiting for it to set, she told me about how she was in the middle of selecting a tablet and hair software for her clients. She’s going to try to use multimedia tools to help her clients explore different colors and styles! I was really impressed by how much passion and dedication she had, and liked how attentive and receptive she was to my needs and concerns.
Emily is a wonderful stylist, and I can’t wait to see her again!
