Jason Chan Photography

After checking out his portfolio on his blog, I knew I wanted to hire Jason before our first consultation with him as I saw how he was more of a photojournalist rather than taking staged photos. I love all the candid shots taken during our engagement and wedding. Jason has a keen eye for color and detail and capturing those moments where the picture is truly worth a thousand words.

Jason is exactly what you want in a photographer. He’s professional, polite, on-​time and good at what he does! We hired him to take family photos and they turned out beautifully. My wife and I wore black/​grey and our daughter wore a purple shirt. Jason shot in a way that really brought out the color and made our daughter the focus of the pictures. He was really good at finding the right location, angle and opportunity for the shots and best of all, he was really natural with the kid.
We are hiring him again for newborn pics. Really looking forward to seeing those!

I met Jason over a year ago. I knew I might be going back to school and planning a wedding in the next year while working full-​time (yes, I am crazy) so I began my photographer search early. I looked up many photographers before contacting a few. I initially wanted to choose a former co-​worker, but he was not available that day, and Jason was my first choice after my co-​worker.
Jason was responsive, easy to contact, and quickly set up a consultation. We met at his fiancé’s flower shop (Petals by Cary, check her out!) and I knew after our initial meeting that Jason would be our photographer. He was friendly, approachable, and his pricing was much more affordable than photographers of similar high quality work.
My now-​husband and I were super awkward during our engagement session, but Jason managed to get tons of awesome shots. Jason is so nice that he even grabbed dinner with us afterwards!
For my wedding, Jason was simply wonderful to deal with. He arrived early to accommodate our schedule (we decided to do our own decorating) and was unobtrusive throughout the evening. Many of my guests commented on how masterful Jason and his co-​photographers were in getting a ton of shots but not getting in the way anyone’s fun.
I can’t wait to see our wedding shots and will continue to use Jason for all of our photography needs exclusively for as long as he continues his craft in photography!

Jason is in one word awesome. He currently does photography part time, but with how responsive and flexible that he is, I can’t say I would expect anything more from full time. The package we chose also included an engagement session, which I feel was a huge positive, as it gave us a chance to get to know Jason (and his awesome assistant Indu) on a more personal level. For any photography needs, I wouldn’t hesitate to strongly endorse Jason and team.

Five stars, easy. As others have said, he’s patient and prepared, yet flexible. My wife and I worked with him for maternity shots, and could not be happier with the end result. His prices are reasonable and worth every penny. I’d hire him again to capture an important event in a heartbeat.

We chose Jason because his prices for very reasonable for the bay area, and his pictures are really great. From the start, Jason was very personable and friendly. We were planning our wedding from out of town, and he was very flexible about meeting with us during the quick weekends we were in town.
We had a very specific idea of what we wanted out of our photos, and he listened to what we wanted and didn’t want in terms of style and content. He gave us exactly what we wanted and then some. Durin the wedding, we hardly noticed he and his assistant were there, but they managed to capture very intimate, sweet moments, as well as the fun ones.
He is very talented, both technically and artistically. The shots are well composed and interesting, and he did a great job in post production – color balancing and such.
We couldn’t have been more pleased with Jason. His prices are VERY reasonable, and the quality is second to none!

Jason is one of the best portrait /​wedding photographers out there. He is easygoing and knowledgeable in his craft. I’ve worked with him as a makeup artist, and his skills truly enhances my work.
I would not pause to collaborate with him in the future.

His approach was great — he provided a consultative approach in terms of determining exactly what our needs and desires were, applied them perfectly to our engagement shoot as well as our wedding day, and the finished product was amazing.
Not only did he get great shots, but at multiple times throughout the entire process, he doggedly showed his attention to detail and amazing ability to go above and beyond what he had promised to us. Jason gave us some tips before the engagement photo sessions so that we would not be unprepared. Our engagement session was fun. Jason is a very friendly, patient, & creative photographer. He’s the kind of photographer who can «capture» the moments. Regardless the cold & depressing weather in SF, Jason was able to make creative use of the environment and light and came up with a great engagement photo collection for us. We got a lot of compliments from our friends for our engagement photos.
On our wedding day, Jason took care of our photo shooting with our guests at the banquet & our wedding photos at Santana Row. He’s very professional & patient, even when my guest kept asking him to take pics of them & me again & again! He’s very careful with the lighting inside our banquet venue, making sure we got the best for ours photos. After the banquet, we took pics at Santana Row, and Jason gave us very good suggestions of locations inside Santana Row. We got a teaser from our wedding photos the night following of our wedding. It’s excellent & we can’t wait to see the rest!

I am so pleased that I had the opportunity to come across Jason Chan. From the offset, he exhibited utter professionalism, he was easy to coordinate with, and he was great at maintaining communication throughout the entire process. Despite the absence of elaborate props, Jason exceptionally captured what I had envisioned.
I was delighted by the beautiful composition of all the photos he took, and the photos were delivered in an expedient manner as well. I would highly recommend him for any project. Double thumbs up, 5 stars all the way Jason Chan.

Jason is definitely a very easy photographer to work with. He’s a nice person in general and have participated in some events with me. I love all the photos that came out and the makeup artists loved them too.
I would love to book him again when I have another event.
