T & S Auto Repair

I took my car to T & S Auto Repair last week and was very pleasantly surprised by my experience. Sean was both friendly and professional. He ran my diagnostic in a timely manner and called me as soon as it was done. Once I returned he opened the hood and showed me exactly what was wrong. He also suggested I contact Volvo before getting any additional work done to see if it would fall under my warranty. I would absolutely recommend T & S Auto Repair to my friends and family and will be going back to get any additional work done on my car. Thanks, Sean!

I found this store from Unilocal and now I’m back here to return the favor. Sean is a very knowledgable and honest mechanics, he worked on my 2008 Lexus IS250AWD. The car had brake problem, I have to press all the way down to feel the stop. Sean debugged the problem by inspecting the brake system, performed a brake fluid flush, removing airs in the system, wheel alignment. After that, the problem narrowed down to rear rotor and brake pad touching and being rusty. Sean ordered the original parts and performed the replacement for rear rotors and pads. Now the stopping force feels like new again! The spark plugs were also replaced, it was something on my to-​do-​list for a long time. I am glad to find Sean and Theresa, reliable, knowledgable, lovely owners to get my car back to good shape! Thank you! I will definitely come back again for my next oil change and maintenance.

I believe that I found the mechanic that I have been looking for. Not only Shawn at T&S Auto Repair has the knowledge and skill to repair cars, they are super friendly. I am a bit hesitant to post this because he might get too busy but the fact is, his shop deserves to be recognized for good business practice.

Once again, Sean never fails! Recently brought in my car to have my bumper replaced due to a fender bender. Sean kept in contact with me throughout whole process and took care of me in one day. He was able to salvage my bumper sticker which I really appreciated ;-) Super reasonably priced and always so friendly and patient with me despite he may a hundred and one other things going on considering it’s just himself.
Sean, you rock.
FYI: He has two awesome dogs that are always guarding the shoppe. Just a little bonus for those dog lovers!

Very friendly. Quick service. Clear communication. Honest. I found the place on Unilocal.Needed an oil change and tire rotation. He did that and an extensive inspection with clear report and recommendations on work that was still covered under warranty.
Will absolutely be taking my car here again.

I’ve been to many shops, even some 5 star ones, they were nice, they sounded like they knew what to do, etc, but when it comes down to the work, they definitely weren’t 5 star-​worthy … I was about to give up hope until my wife found this place by luck.
One big problem with other shops is, the person you talk to can sound like they know their stuff, but if you’re unlucky, the job is given to a rookie or it gets lost in translation and when you needed an oil change, you find they swapped your motor or whatever.
You won’t have that problem here, Sean knows his stuff and does all his own work. No shop seemed to be able to fix my problem but when I told Sean some of my major problems, he fixed it and even fixed the issues I didn’t even mention.
The only reason I hesitate to write this review is I’m afraid he won’t have time to work on my stuff when the shop gets too popular, but when someone is that good, you just want to help them out with a great review. His wife is very nice and friendly as well; she does all the paperwork and transactions.
The price was actually really fair, but what really sold me were the 2 awesome dogs they own, a Husky and a Lab, I love dogs, that was their selling point!
Anyway I hope this review will help some people, I know it’s tough to find a good mechanic, in fact, we drive all the way from SF because we trust them with our vehicles, I’m sure I can find cheaper places, but saving $ 50 or $ 200 isn’t worth the trouble if the job isn’t done right because you’re actually paying more in the long run.

I found this place on Unilocal and I am always a little weary of places that have all 5 starts! Like really, everyone likes you? I think not, you had to have SOLD your Soul or something. I gave them a try anyways because they were about a 3 min walk from my office building.
The place was a little small but all the other shops around were as well. The older lady (Teresa) was super nice and took my info and Sean the owner was the person who changed my oil and was also super cool. I am usually super tense and hate any kind of car shop, but I liked this one. In not a girl but have many friends who are and I can safely say that they would like it here.
I called in advance to get a quote and he gave it to me, Of course, if you give them the wrong info, the quote might change. In my case case, I gave him the right info and the price he quoted me was the price he charged me. (Most of these reviews say the same thing) Over the years, I have had a lot of oil changes and I can safely say I will take my car back here.
To summarize, no soul selling here, just old fashion good service!

Had a pretty urgent problem with my car, which was stalling out randomly while driving. After doing a bit of google detective work I suspected that it was a malfunctioning ignition switch. Sean was able to take a look at it, and confirm my suspicion. He had it fixed quickly.
Equally important however was the customer service. Sean was polite, approachable, and knowledgeable. He was able to explain exactly what he did in order to have my car running again.
I’ll be taking my car here in the future.

I had my truck towed here after it broke down. They had the problem diagnosed very quickly and they went above and beyond to get it working again. Sean and the team were very accommodating and provided excellent service. I would absolutely go here again, and highly recommend them to anyone.

It is clear that Shun is very passionate about his work and pay a lot of attention to details. He is the first mechanic that actually took the time to explain the work he has done and he does it in a way that is easy to understand. As a Diamond Certified shop you might expect to pay a little more BUT this is not the case here. I checked around and he offered the best estimate. Finally, since he does the work himself, you know your car is taken care of by someone with a lot of experience. I highly recommend T&S to anyone.

Shun and Theresa are very welcoming and you can tell they are hard workers and very knowlegable. Husband and wife team rocks, not to mention the lovely doggies that great you when you come in the door. Shun was very transparent with the estimate costs of parts and labor and fixed the problems with my Suburban’s vibration. He also replaced the back window washer motor and drove me to and from home each time. Very sweet and experienced. I love supporting good, honest people in San Carlos! Shun is a great mechanic and a great person as well. I had a check engine light for an issue he’s never seen before, and assured me he would clear the maintenance code. He properly diagnosed the issue when other repair shops could not give me a straight answer. When we realized the code was not cleared yet, he stayed after hours with me to figure out why the problem wasn’t resolved; that is extremely generous and rare from any mechanic in this world.
He is truly an honest person and will not try and upsell you with so-​called «issues» that may be harmful to your car. He has extreme knowledge of automechanics and is always eager to learn more when he can’t find an answer to the problem. His pricing is extremely fair and he deserved every penny. Going to a mechanic is almost as scary as the dentist, but Shun and T & S really made me feel comfortable while being completely honest and professional. Will refer all my friends to see him if they experience car issues!

We needed the 60k maintainence for our car and we called around to several places to get bids. Multiple places told us it would be ~$ 200 – 400. I then called T & S and they told me all of that is done as part of their standard oil change, which would be $ 30. I then checked our manual, and sure enough the 60k just needed an oil change and a bunch of things inspected. All other places wanted to charge $ 100s just to inspect a few things, all of which are part of T & S’s standard oil change. That right there is the sign of an honest mechanic.
After getting the work done, we learned that T & S’s computer actually told them to charge us ~$ 300, which is in line with the other bids. But after they saw what was actually required for the 60k they refused to charge that much since it’s all part of their standard process already — that kind of honesty is hard to find. We were also told our brakes were getting near their end, but they didn’t want to replace them yet for us since they still had a little life in them.
We will definitely be returning when those brakes do come to their end and for each subsequent oil change that is needed. Thanks for the honest service!

I had my Honda CRV towed here at the suggestion of my tow truck driver. Sean was helpful, friendly, and seemed trustworthy right off the bat. He fixed my idle control valve at a price that I felt was really reasonable. The service was fast and my car was ready the next day.
He even checked the tire pressure in my other car and put air in the tires for me. How nice! Teresa in the office was very friendly, as well. Overall, I’d say this place is fast, friendly, and reliable!

I came by to have my oil changed and they were courteous, professional and efficient. I dropped the car off and walked into Belmont for a burger. An hour later, I came back and they had finished all the work and even patched a nail in the tire. I’m not going to take my car anywhere else in the future.

My whole family and all my friends brings all their cars for Sean to service. We have been coming here ever since they’ve open and they’ve been in the business for 3 years.
Sean is the best mechanic in the Bay Area and services all types of cars. He is honest, reliable and he only uses original parts from the dealer for all the services.

I had never needed a mechanic before other than routine tire/​oil maintenance. However, when my car stalled out and wouldn’t restart on El Camino, I wished I had done more research. When the AAA tow driver pulled up, and I asked his opinion of a good local mechanic he recommended Sean and his business T and S Auto Repair. Using the logic that one does not become a tow truck driver and hate cars, I took him up on his recommendation. One of the best decisions I’ve made for my car. Sean is both mechanic and Co-​owner of the business, and demonstrates incredible expertise in his craft, as well as respect for customer experience, which is a rarity in today’s world. He gave me a call after running diagnostics on the car (which he didn’t charge me for), and let me know what the problem was, and a quote on what it would cost to replace. His costs for the repair were fair and honest, when I asked if there were cheaper parts available, he responded «I will not sacrifice the safety and reliability of my customers’ vehicles for inferior parts, all of which come with a lifetime warranty», a customer oriented attitude I found extremely refreshing after dealing with large corporate chain maintenance shops for years. Sean was able to get my Car back running smoother than ever in under 24 hours, which really speaks for itself. As Teresa and Sean will tell you, the company is Diamond Certified in customer satisfaction. Go, meet them, you will not be disappointed.

I just would like to say that Sean and Theresa are awesome people! I happened to find them on this Unilocal last year or so, and since they are around the corner from my job, I decided to check them out. I had him change my oil and from then on, they have done everything with my car. They are some of the few honest people left in this world, and treat you like family! Theresa is always there to say hi and ask how things are and their dogs are adorable!
Sean has always taken my car quickly and makes sure it is sound and working well. He knows what he is talking about and even can let you know how cars act for their year and make. He doesn’t list and make you scared into getting other things done. He knows what needs to be done at the moment and what can wait till the near future. I have never felt scammed or made to feel dumb for a lack of knowing mechanics. Give him a list of symptoms, and he can sort it down to a few things wrong and then will check to see what it is. He has never been wrong for what I call him about.

I’m very cautious of which mechanic I visit since I work on cars/​motorcycles myself, but sometimes it’s just more convenient to hand it off.
On that note, my first visit here was great. Sean is professional, thorough, and has a good attitude. He knows how to do the job right and won’t take shortcuts.
I’m happy to have found a honest mechanic and will be visiting him again soon for upcoming maintenance.
