South of Nick’s voted #1, four years straight!
When Nick was recently invited to the Herradura Hacienda in Guadalajara, to see how one of the world’s finest tequilas is produced, and hand select his own barrels, he jumped at the opportunity. Nick invited a couple of tequila aficionado friends along with his senior management team to assist in the celebrated selection process. We are pleased to announce our Herradura partnership and our limited supply of our very own three barrels of hand selected tequila chosen specifically for our restaurant guests enjoyment.
We invite you and your friends and family to enjoy our limited availability, hand selected Private Barrel Collection.
If you didn’t already know, South of Nick’s Kitchen + Bar features modern-creative and traditional Mexican styles of cooking plus unique cocktails & beers along with an extensive wine and tequila selection.

Before opening South of Nick’s Mexican Kitchen + Bar in San Clemente, Nick and his team traveled to Mexico City to do his homework, checking out the flavors at the local markets and restaurants.
But the menu he created upon return isn’t an attempt to copy the dishes he found there. He calls his menu Southern California Mexican, «authentic dishes with a SoCal touch. It’s an interesting menu and well-executed.
The restaurant is in a historic building built in the early 1920s so they couldn’t touch the bones. The rustic wood beam ceiling and Spanish tile entrance remain, as do the original windows that open onto busy El Camino Real. Nickoloff gutted the inside and gave it an airy modern Southwestern vibe with throw pillows in the low-back booths. An island bar dominates the center of the main dining room. The kitchen is open so you can see the chefs at work. Sofas surround the original fireplace in the lobby for diners who have to wait for a table. Chill Jazz tunes.
