My girlfriends and I were looking for a shuttle service for a birthday party from North County to Gaslamp. I found A Big Van SD Shuttle on Unilocal and John was reasonably priced, easy to work with and very professional. He was on time and flexible with our pick up time. We opted to head home about an hour before what we had originally planned and he was available to accommodate our needs. We were very impressed with his services and will definitely use this shuttle service again.

John picked us up last night from the airport even though our flight was late! He was very kind. This is the first time we visit San Diego and we were not sure about booking something we don’t know, but it has been a positive experience. I recommend his services.

I joined a group of businessmen and women as a photographer this past weekend (Saturday & Monday). They hired A Big Van to get them from Hotel to Restaurant and back. Each time, John was on time and extremely courteous. He did not hesitate to grab our luggage and place it in the van. He opened our doors and didn’t mind if we were a little off schedule. Great service!

Great service! I had a large group of executives and needed van service to a couple of venues. John was reasonable and very willing to work with us to accommodate everyone comfortably and affordably. I was so anxious about everything that I confirmed with him three times and he was very patient and professional. He texted me when they arrived (early, so I had no anxiety there), and was waiting outside the door when we were ready to go. He helped everyone aboard the two vans and navigated through San Diego rush hour to get us to our destination on time. The vans were comfortable and the driving of both John and Joanna was wonderful. When we were ready to leave our venue, he was right outside waiting and again navigated safely to our destination. I’ll definitely use this service again. I was very impressed.

We ask for their services from la jolla to TJ airport. They where on time. And the whatsapp communication was very handy. But the problem was when we where about to boarding the lady driver told us that they also arranged to pick up another client that need it to go to the airport too because he left something there the day before. We are a family of 6 with a lot o baggage and we felt very uncomfortable with the situation. That’s why we rent a «private» service and they wanted to pick up another client? She told us will be very quick only 5 more minutes from our fwy exit and we will have of course to squish so he can seat. At the end we said No. We don’t feel comfortable and can’t lost time as we have to be on time on airport. She said it was ok. But the rest of the way the atmosphere wasn’t very friendly. So for sure we are never going to use this service again.

John is first class. I have used his van twice now. Once for a concert and once for dinner. He is very flexible, friendly, low pressure. I recommend John if you are looking for a safe reliable ride.

First of all, I should have written this sooner, but had quite a busy schedule. I would like to say that this is the best shuttle service that I ever had in my life. I used A Big Van to get from San Diego airport to TJ airport, and on my return from TJ airport back to San Diego airport. The pickup was super punctual and smooth, with a high degree of professionalism and friendliness. On my way back from TJ airport to San Diego, I had extra time and John even gave me a little tour of downtown San Diego. Now that is excellent service ! I agree with another reviewer here, A Big Van truly is the best shuttle service in all of CA!

We used a big van on Saturday to go to the Del Mar Races. John was fantastic! Very punctual, friendly, nice and relaxed! I would definitely use him again. He has great competitive prices too!

I found A Big Van on Unilocal for safe private transportation for my Mom/​her husband in their 60’s to Tijuana Airport from Hillcrest area. John was not the driver it was a woman who brought her child. They have the centri pass to cross the border fast. She arrived early. A Big Van has the WhatsApp to communicate across the border if you can’t use your phone. John called my mom to confirm the day before to reassure all will be fine and on schedule. My mom said the price was very reasonable and would use them again or recommend for friends. Thanks for taking care of them!

Best shuttle service in all of CA! John was very courteous, prompt, responsive for our large group. The car was clean and new and the rate was totally worth it. I will only use this service when I’m in the area from now on!

A very good service first class, the driver offerd us a hotspot qi fi from his own phone and the driver was super friendly and have a big knowledge about san diego attractions and hotspots one of the best experience I ever had with drivers and he can carry even up to 12 people in one van !!

I recently moved to SD from hawaii two weeks ago and found a full-​sized bed on Craigslist that I wanted to buy. Unfortunately, the owner wasn’t able to deliver. Since I don’t know anybody in the city, I called A Big Van and asked if they were able to transport the bed and boxspring to my house. John Rubio, the owner of this company, answered immediately and agreed to do the delivery for a set, very reasonable price. We both met up at the house, he loaded and unloaded the bed for me and took it right up to my room in my apartment building. He was incredibly quick, efficient, friendly, and positive, even though the bed was a hassle to fit in the van. I tried to offer him more money than we agreed upon, and he refused to take it, telling me, «Welcome to San Diego!» John provided wonderful service with a huge smile, and I am so grateful to have enlisted his help. He definitely has brought Aloha to San Diego, and I will definitely ask him for help if ever caught in a similar jam.

I scheduled a ride a month ahead of time, and was no-​showed. Furthermore, they never responded to my messages trying to contact them the day of the ride! Unbelievably unreliable.

It was mine and my friends birthday and a group of 8 of us needed to be downtown by 9pm for the party and then come back to North Park at 1:30. This company was prompt, affordable, and courteous.
I highly recommend them as transporation! I forget the drivers name but he was super friendly and nice. They are stored in my phone for future services!

John did reach out to me today and apologized for the mix-​up. The fact that he took the time to do this shows that he values his reputation and wants his customers to have a good experience.
We all make mistakes, it is not necessarily a reflection of the norm.

My family of five (with 5 big bags) flew into San Diego from Boston late at night. Before leaving Boston, I Unilocaled 4 shuttle services. Although price was important, I also needed to have a sense of confidence that the driver would show up and that he would honor his price!
I chose John because he answered the phone right away, he was the owner of his company and he explained his process clearly m
John had me text my flight info and asked me to text him upon touch down and again when we got our bags.
In addition, I texted him when I boarded my flight in Boston just to make certain he would be there.
John did a great job helping with our luggage and even helped carry our bags to my front door!

John texted me again and offered a full refund for our troubles. The evening in question was extremely busy due to the holiday weekend, and apparently, there was a misunderstanding about our return ride. I give John and his company a big thumbs up for making good on a bad situation. Based on John’s willingness to make things better, the fact that this is a small business and he genuinely wants his customers to be happy, I would recommend A Big Van, and would consider using them again in the future. We needed a ride to the airport from PB and searched for shuttle service to airport on Unilocal.A Big Van popped up and we read the comments on it and decided to give this business a try.
John was very easy to work with — not only did he pick up the phone right away, he confirmed our ride time and location via text. We needed to be picked up at 5 a.m. from our house and he arrived 10 minutes early.
He charged a flat rate. We will use his service again.

I was looking for the van service from hotel to the airport.
We have 5 suitcase and 3 carry-​on baggage, so we needed a van service instead of regular cab. (We have to move to Japan)
I found a big van on here Unilocal.
I sent him a message and he, John wrote me back soon.
Next day, at 4am, he showed up on time and took us to the airport.
And it was affordable price. It was $ 38, from E st. Chula Vista to commuter terminal.
I recommend a big van if you need to take a lot of stuffs or people.

I guess I’ll be the first to review A Big Van for going to the airport and not clubbing in the Gaslamp.
We live in Normal Heights and hate paying $ 30+ for a cab the 7 miles to the airport. So I started looking around on Unilocal.
This service is not that much less than a cab, but way more personal, reliable and the price is a flat fee, so no surprises if traffic sucks. I like that I can text to make a pickup appointment. And he’s always a little early. We’ve had late and no show cab situations.
Additionally, the driver went above and beyond what we could ever hope for from a cab. As we curb checked our bags, my husband realized he left his carry-​on in the van. I texted the driver but got no response. So I called, frantic. He answered, apologized profusely for missing my text as he had already gotten home and gone to sleep! But he jumped out of bed and raced back to the airport to deliver the bag and we made our flight. And he refused a tip.
We are loyal Big Van riders now.
*Note to Ashley who thought the van was not fancy enough for her stilettos: If you’re going to get bottle service at clubs in the Gaslamp — get a limo.

9 of us decided to go to downtown san diego for a night of drunk shenanigans and crazy freak dancing one random night. Obviously none of us wanted to drive so my roommate Unilocaled van services and came up with A Big Van which charged a flat rate of 180 round trip for a van with 10 seats. John Rubio picked up and told us he could help us out. «Nooo problem.» Picked us up at 11:30 per our request and we set off to Onyx Room for a night of hip-​hop.
Basically, all I can say is that our experience with him was nothing but amazing. He was a really chill and relaxed guy who understood that college kids could be crazy and drunkenly annoying at times. When he picked us up, he didn’t have a brush off attitude like most drivers but instead actually conversed and made jokes here and there. He even had an ipod car adapter where we could blast the music of our choice. In addition, after picking us up from the club he realized we were debating whether to drive to get food after or not and actually drove us to Vallartas to get mexican food instead of having us drunk drive.
Needless to say, because he was so personable and happy go lucky, we got to know him pretty well. When we were dropped off, one of our roommates had even already talked to him about his life story. I’d for sure recommend you choose his services because having John Rubio there actually added on to an amazing night.
