This salon is amazing! I am new to town and found this salon while shopping at the boutique downstairs. The entire staff has been so sweet and welcoming. I went to Tisso for a cut and highlights — he did an INCREDIBLE job on both. He spoke with me a lot before my services to make sure we were on the same page, which I appreciated.
After a week of having my new haircut, I decided I wanted it a bit shorter (no fault of Tisso at all! He did exactly what we discussed). I called to make an appointment to go shorter and they accommodated me and didn’t charge me for the second haircut. That is going above and beyond to make the client happy and they definitely did. I will be a client here for life!

A girlfriend found this amazing place inside Dolcetti Boutique on her first visit to San Diego. Cassandra did her hair and did a fantastic job. So good… I decided I needed to get a blow out for our evening out.
Walking up the stairs I was greeted by Michael (the owner). Within minutes he has you feeling like you’ve been a client for years. They offer water, soda, coffee or wine to get you started. Rachel did my hair and it was am*az*ing! She listened to my likes and dislikes and I felt incredible walking out of the salon. The pricing is very fair, the salon is trendy without being over the top and the talent is great.
It won’t be our last visit!

Also keep in mind they are writing fake 5 star reviews. Those are the ones with no picture 1 or 2 friends and a 5 star review. I think they have like 3 just on the first reviews that show up. It’s misleading. So be careful read all reviews… the ones from real people arent all so great.
I won’t go into why or what happened with my first visit because that stylist no longer works here, but she messed up my hair really bad.
I came right back after noticing how bad it looked at home (a 5 min walk) and was told because I left there without saying anything they couldn’t re imburse, only redo it.
This is where I met TISSO. He came up while I was talking to the stylist who ruined my hair and basically blamed it all on me. Yes he would have fixed it, but he was SO rude to me. Saying, I chose that color, I showed her the picture, placing all wrong doing on me… the one who knows nothing about hair, came in with a picture and left with the opposite of that, and 2 blonde streaks to boot. Yeah, obviously my fault.
Anyway, so I write a tip on Unilocal (only a tip, I never wrote a review until now) saying he’s rude, because he was. I had been given credit to come back in for product (for the price of my hair color) so I’ve come in twice previously and he’s been super rude to me. He wouldn’t speak when he was asked to explain a product to me, he actually walked away and hid until I left, this was before I wrote that Unilocal tip saying he was rude. I felt really awkward, and then wrote that tip. It made me not want to come back in at all, I was even nervous to come in today, and This happens, yall for real this actually happened :
As I’m about to leave after getting my product and while he’s doing a customer’s hair, he yells at me that I can’t keep coming in to get free stuff if I don’t take down that Unilocal review (tip). Um, what? He goes on and on yelling (making a scene) at me, his loud arguing with me goes on for like 2 minutes and says out of nowhere «it’s for the best I don’t come back in» when I told the receptionist to cancel the apt I made for saturday. I had decided before that incident i wouldnt not come here bc of one person, but obviously i cancelled) he then yells «bye» super rudely and very loud, like 3 times. I even said to the manager you don’t fire someone for this?! He didn’t want to get into it. He never even told him to stop verbally attacking me, he just watched it happen. Wow.
I then go downstairs to leave through the shop part and can hear him keep yelling, talking about me, mind you while he’s doing a customer’s hair, and ask for the management to come down. I wanted to be nice and clear the air. I was told he was «with a client» (he wasn’t) so he sends the receptionist. Who is even more rude!
She says this happened bc they are «artists» and bc they are artists my one tiny Unilocal tip can affect his career and I should remove it. «Because this is their career» When I informed her I bartend and would never do this over a bad Unilocal comment, she says she quote has a «real career», they aren’t «just bartenders». woah now. I inform her mine is a very real career with very real money and you could call us ‘artists’ too. I went from being embarrassed to all around mortified and angry.
You lost me, anyone I know and most likely the girl who’s hair he was doing bc her face looked mortified.
I guess I shouldn’t have come in after posting a tip that’s negative, but I’m not the only one with a bad tip or review here. Or any salon, they all have bad comments. Has any other stylist acted that way towards a guest? Probably not ! It was crazy and a little scary.
Only come here if you want to support that type of customer service and management/​staff who think it’s acceptable. And think that messing up your hair like they did mine, is «art».
I am really embarrassed and really upset that happened to me today. Ive Never been treated that way at a business let alone such a fancy and expensive one. What an unprofessional immature and rude thing to do! I wanted to cry when I left I was so angry and embarrassed. People in there were staring, it was the weirdest most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to me in public.
What’s sad is the manager had handled this well previously. Giving me credit for product and helping me pick out which to get, they had even offered to re do my hair or give me treatments, which I declined, I just accepted the product as I was uncomfortable with their stylists doing my hair after the first time… I was blindsided by this outburst today. If he was that upset over a Unilocal review he could have asked to speak to me quietly. But what happened actually scared me and showed me the integrity and standards of the people who work there.
Noone has called or written to apologize. just a ridiculous comment left by the owner below.

I have been coming here for years now, and cannot express how much I love it! Their customer service is outstanding, and only overshadowed by their talent! Tiso does my color (he’s a magician when it comes to hair!) and Kelley usually does my cut (he is AMAZING!). I never know exactly what I want when I go in, but somehow they understand what I try to describe and I always leave so happy with my look. I highly recommend this salon to everyone! The rates are affordable, and worth it! Not only do they do hair, but Suzie did my makeup for my engagement photo shoot! (She did so great!) If you are looking for a salon in San Diego, this is it!

When I moved to San Diego and needed a new hair stylist I was so happy I found this place. The level of service, professionalism and care that went into everything was unparalleled and my stylist, Tisso, has exceeded my expectations every time. They are very on top of all the trends and always point me in the right direction. I wouldn’t ever consider trying any other place. The level of hospitality that michael and all the girls show really sets this place apart from anything. Feels like family in there

So happy with the results! Came in with an outdated, grown out inverted bob and came out with a stylish doo. Ask for Amanda. She is from Connecticut, trained in New York and is amazing! And just for age reference: I’m 49 and, guessing, Amanda is in her late 20s. She listened, she asked, she’s wonderful. Very friendly, comfortable but «kicky» salon. Thank you!

Best hairstylist in San Diego ! Was my first time in SD and I just spent hours and hours looking for one hairstylist on Internet, and I couldn’t find anything. As a French native, I am very very concerned about my haircut. Then I walked on 5^th avenue, entered a shop and discovered on the second floor a little Salon.
I asked for the haircut and took me without a question. (Yes just asking me if I wanted something to drink ;))
I was like… Oh my god how much will I pay?, they are so friendly and the salon is very nice.
My hairstylist is really really nice and asking me what I want, talking about San Diego and what I am doing here. And then, after two shampoos, I only paid $ 35. That’s what I used to pay in France for the same, or maybe less service. And the best thing is that you can come one week later for a cleanUp for free!
I recommend it!

Well for bein a first time customer I have to say I was extremely satisfied with the service & the assistance I received complementary Wine. I was really happy I will be goin back in a month. Thanks to my New HAir Stylist.

As a designer, I’m often judged on my appearance by clients and coworkers so am under a bit more pressure to look good than other professions may be and so, hairstyle is important. When I moved to San Diego, I visited a couple of barber shops and salons but none of them felt «right» to me. They were all good places, but just didn’t have that connection for me.
When I came to Style Concierge, I immediately recognized it as a cool place with trendy staff and store (by the way, it’s on the mezzanine level of a trendy, almost indie clothing store) that was inviting. The staff is super helpful and inviting and always want to make sure you’re comfortable and enjoy your time there. After having my hair cut by three different stylists, I knew I had found my place and stylist. Cassandra.
Cassandra is a great stylist with a real talent to make you look good even if you don’t know what style you’re going for. I would tell her to «do what you think looks good» every visit and was never disappointed. She often kept to a similar style each visit but varied it depending on her mood and the season to match anticipated attires. Gotta say, I’m sad that I left San Diego and she will no longer be my primary stylist. But, anytime I go back, I’ll definitely try to time it for when I need a cut!

Just got my hair styled by Mr. Kelly. Totally professional yet laid back enough to talk about anything. Asked me what I wanted and consulted with me throughout the whole cut and style. Maria (stylist) was sweet enough to give me a shampoo and massage in between the cut. Everyone I encountered offered me a beverage. Is this normal? The salon is located on the top floor of the fashion shop near lucky’s and searsuckers. I will definitely be back.

From the boutique to the salon everyone is so friendly and helpful.
Came for a trim and blow out with Kelly and he did a fabulous job to say the least! Im very cautious when cutting my hair since I don’t do it often but Kelly cut off just the right amount he thought was needed while still maintaing my length. Couldn’t have asked for a better appointment.
Final note: This salon is awesome! Don’t miss out & ask for Kelly!

Love this place! I’ve been here twice since moving to San Diego and I was impressed both times with how knowledgable and skilled Amanda was. My hair is curly and unruly but she knew just how to work it. Pricey, yes, but not outrageous and totally worth it. Professional staff and nice shop makes you feel welcomed and pampered! Will definitely go back.

My appointment was at 1:15pm… They didn’t have me in the chair till 2.
I asked for a trim, because I have been growing my hair out since 2009, and just wanted a clean up of layers…
They cut off 5 ½ inches.

This is my favorite hair salon in San Diego. It is conveniently located in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. All the staff members are super friendly and extremely professional. My personal favorite hair stylist is Maria. She does a fantastic job and always exceeds my expectations. Not to mention, their prices are very competitive for Downtown. Thank you Style Concierge for being awesome!

My review is based on two Saturday morning visits. Every single staff member pleasantly greeted starting at the Dolcetti Boutique area and all the way up to the hair salon area. During my first appointment with Maria, she took her time to listen to my needs, likes, and my hairs’ styling history :). She wrote down the price of each procedure; it was very affordable (I moved to SD from DC). Regardless of how much my ends needed to be cut (2 to 3 inches), Maria respected my wishes and only cut one inch. She is the professional, and I listened to her professional coloring opinion which was the best coloring job EVER. The first experience was amazing, which led to a second visit where I stated «do whatever you think is necessary Maria.» My Caribbean curly hair is the healthiest it has been in a long time (I purchased several recommended products).

*Maria gave me an amazing brief scalp massage when she washed my hair. It always reminds me that I need to schedule a facial and/​or massage.
*I was introduced to Maria by Michael Lee (owner and sweetheart of a person) during an evening of browsing at Dolcetti Boutique. This shows the kind and friendly atmosphere of the boutique and hair salon.

I went in for a waxing appointment with a friend about two weeks ago. We first noticed the salon because they claimed eyebrow and upper lip waxing was just $ 10 — what a great deal right?
After confirming the price over the phone, we get there and are told they’re running late, no problem since there’s a boutique downstairs.
About 15 minutes later they come get us and inform us that the price for the services is $ 25, not $ 10 as advertised. Not only did they not honor the advertised price, but the girl runs out with a sharpie and scratches out the price.
We then find out there’s no waxing area, rather they sit you in the shampooing chairs. This wasn’t an issue, what was an issue was that the girl spent half my appointment waxing me and washing the girl sitting next to me’s hair.
All around the waxing was good but not amazing and I certainly expected a better experience from a trendy salon.

A style concierge is a cute little salon with a cool vibe, friendly people and even some great boutique shopping downstairs.
I came in yesterday to get a haircut from a stylist there named Kelly — best haircut of my life!
I have a ton of hair, and to boot– it’s long and thick. Kelly was wonderful, took his time to make it perfect and my hair has never felt better. On top of giving me a great cut, he was super friendly, conversational and had a laid back personality. Needless to say, I will definitely be going back to see Kelly for my next cut.

Let me start this off by saying I’ve been living in San Diego for 3 years and hate every time I have to get my hair done because I have yet to find a stylist I love and that understands what I’m asking for. I always bring in pictures and am verbally descriptive, but the cut never turns out the way I want. I am picky, I admit, but not impossible to please by any means.
Enter: A Style Concierge. I found them on Unilocal and decided to give them a shot. I’ve been walking right past them for years (they’re right next door to Ghirardelli in downtown SD) but are camouflaged by their clothing store front (the salon is upstairs in the back). I came in to have an ombré consultation and brought in pictures of what I liked and what I didn’t. My stylist, Amanda, made suggestions based on the pictures I had. I felt comfortable that she understood what I wanted so I let her get to work. She skillfully colored my hair and it came out PERFECT!!! I also wanted a cut (I didn’t really have pictures this time for the cut so I described what I wanted) and she gave me exactly what I wanted. I’m not even confident that I described it fully, but she understood and delivered!!! FINALLY! A salon I can call home!
Amanda was really sweet and definitely skilled in her craft! The salon was clean and the other stylists/​receptionists/​owners were all very friendly. I’m so thankful I came across them! Definitely recommend A Style Concierge for others that are mindful of their spending but want great results (I hate spending money on haircuts but for $ 50, you walk out with an amazing one! Waaaayyyy worth the $ 10 difference from other, mediocre salons).

Being a San Diego native, I have gone to numerous salons throughout the years and have finally found one to call my hair home. Ahhh thank you Whitney for making my long locks beautiful and keeping my SoCal blonde highlights bright all year long.

Weeks later, I love the color even more than before. I’ve totally grown into it. The cut is really amazing too… I don’t notice in the mirror as much as I do in photographs of myself where I can see all the cool looking, flattering layers from all different angles.
The receptionist is really cheerful and sweet.
I like that you always get greeted as soon as you walk through the door downstairs too.
I wish the items in the boutique were less expensive so that people on budgets (like moi) could actually feel hope that some items are within our grasp.
