100th review and I am coming out of the closet for this one. I am a total dork and like dorky things such as the radio show «A Way with Words». Where else can I find the origin of the word«frontin”(1)? To err is human; To «air» is mispronouncing the word err. To find out that throwing the word anymore on the end of a sentence, constitutes a «positive» anymore vs. the standard version of anymore designating something negative. I am far from a grammar nazi.(YES! I now know *nazi, is supposed to capitalized, but I really don’t feel like the idiots that are such deserve the recognition of being categorized with a capital letter). I mispronounce things on a daily basis, but that is the beauty of A Way with Words. I will say«brack-fest» vs. breakfast, «crowns» are crayons etc etc… Linguistically we are all different and yet people still take umbrage with different dialects, pronunciations, and verbiage. You might have a poutrage(2) over reading this, but in actuality it is more like an accismus(3). 1– A term used in the late 1800’s to signify an accomplice in a scam scheme. 2– acting outraged when you’re really not. 3– pretending refusal of something actually very much desirable. God… I am such a dork.
