I am a new and now loyal customer to ABC Tax Service. After dealing with many questionable tax services over the years, I can honestly say, I will now only use Randy. He was very quick and completely thorough when it came to completing my tax return. Not only does Randy offer a great service but his prices are extremely fair compared to other tax services I have used in the past. I highly recommend working with ABC Tax Service for any tax need!

I was referred to Randy Ames at ABC Tax Service by my Investment Professional. I am so thankful for the referral! Randy prepared the returns for my brother-​in-​law and his Trust, for which I am the trustee, in less than a week. He took care of everything including filing and requesting the estimated payment refund, and his fees seemed extremely fair. I would highly recommend Randy, and am planning on having him complete our personal returns next year instead of using Turbo Tax!

My wife and I have been using ABC Tax Service for nearly 20 years. Randy is the only person I will trust to do my personal taxes. He has helped out my Daughter and her husband when they first got married. Being a Marine and living in another state did not matter to Randy. They received a refund going through Randy and H&R Block told them that they owed the state $ 1,000 and Federal $ 2,500. Thanks Randy for taking care of me and my family.

This is a belated review since 2011, I have been on a journey to seek for a good tax accountant. Now I have a good sampling pool of different tax accountants, and experience variety of tax situations (investment, rental property, financial losses) I feel more qualified to provide this belated review.
I had hired Randy back in 2011 for my 2010 taxes. At that time Randy is still very affordable, which he was able to complete my tax filing for $ 150. The tax was done fast and he was semi-​friendly, but somehow I think being a very young female professional (at that time I was only 24) kind of work to my disadvantage. I had asked him some very basic tax questions (i.e. what can I do to plan my tax for future? What are something I can claim as tax deduction in the future). I get fairly mediocre standard answer, which I can probably look up on google myself. I realized at that time I might to pay him outside of tax appointment for tax consultation, which I did. At that time 2011, I made sufficient money from stock for my first down payment for rental income property. I scheduled an appointment with him, hoping he can helpful me plan out the tax strategy for different kind of property since I was debating between 2 properties.
Knowing what I know now about taxes, I expect him to help me calculate how much mortgage interest I can use for deduction, under which schedule should I file, property depreciation calculation for the next 20 years to help me determine the property and which one would be most beneficial for tax strategy, and what my tax might looked like for the following year. Except, I receive none of that and left the place knowing nothing more than I left.
Overall, I would say if you have not too complicate tax situation, this place gets the job done, and Randy is an ethical guy and much better than others on the ethical scale. But if you really want to plan out your future, get a handle on your financial and tax planning, this place is probably not the best.

Randy is outstanding at what he does. This is I first year I used his services and will not be my last. I ended up with alot of different forms this year in which I though it was going to be a complicated, long and drawn out process. To my surprise Randy was well organized, which I love, and was able to do everything in a one hour session which had not happened in my previous tax years.

While he is friendly and does a decent job. I must admit I was shocked that he charged us over $ 600.00 for an hour. We had all our paperwork in order and all. I just feel people should be prepared for how expensive it is. I feel it is a high.

Having just bought a house, I felt it was import at to use a professional vs H&R Block. I was referred to Randy by a colleague who said nothing but positive things about her years of experience with him. I have to say I was very impressed. He was organized, knowledgable, professional and provided sound consultation on financial goals I have for the next year. Thanks Randy!

ABC is amazing! Randy helped us with our current year personal taxes (complicated to us, but a breeze for him.) They were filed immediately and easily.
More importantly, using Turbo Tax for the previous two years resulted in the IRS saying we owed them around $ 7000. Randy amended both years returns (turns out Turbo Tax did NOT work well for us.) He corrected a number of mistakes and found that the IRS actually owes US money. The money he found for us more than covers his very reasonable fee. Phew!
Randy is kind and professional, and works quickly. His communications are easy to understand, timely and he gets things done ahead of schedule, which I very much appreciate.
We’ll be coming back every year, no more tax software for us!

Randy Ames of ABC Tax Service has been filing my taxes for three years. His service is fast, professional and he is always up to speed with the current tax laws (as they are always changing). Every year he sends his clients a checklist of all necessary documentation needed to make your appointment with him go as smooth as possible. I would recommend Randy and his tax service to a friend.

I recently moved to San Diego and felt I needed professional consultation because I felt there was something wrong with my tax assistance received for relocation benefits. I chose to make an appointment with Randy solely based on how great his review looks like on Unilocal.However I was extremely disappointed.
He was nice and friendly to start with, making fun and jokes. When he learned I was originally from China he told me he was teaching English in China 20 years ago and started to comment on how «communist» the government was (it still is but it’s not the point). When I asked which city he visited he said «Chiang Mai» which I know for sure is a city in Thailand! After sitting there listening to his comment on a country which he probably had never physically been to, I guess that should’ve been my first clue of how «on top of facts» he was.
It was a late appointment so I could tell he wanted to wrap up and went home (his wife was txting him). He basically put my numbers in the system and told me this is the number (which anybody with access to online software can do). I asked him if he knew anything that might help my situation or if he could provide any advise he quickly said no it was how it was. The whole process took about 20 min.
Now came the last straw. When I told me I wanted to talk to my company’s payroll and find out what happened before filing and I was not going to file with him, he became very irritated and started calling me «UNETHICAL» of wasting his time without paying him. Well, I consider someone unprofessional and unethical in this situation when he clearly couldn’t keep the promise that he made on the website.
Despite all those great reviews on Unilocal,I would never recommend ABC tax services to anyone.

Historically I have always done my own taxes, but each year they are getting slightly more complex and require a more in depth interpretation of tax code aside from a TurboTax interview. The experience with Randy will ensure that I never do my own taxes again.
Scheduling was easy and online, just the way I prefer it. Randy was extremely pleasant to work with, communicated where he was in the process frequently, and completed the e-​filing of our return in record time. Randy was also able to use his resources to research a complicated tax challenge and come up with a justifiable, common sense solution.
Tax code can be complicated and convoluted, but Randy makes it simple and backs it up with common sense. I will absolutely be going back to Randy next year.

I have done my taxes with ABC Tax Service for the second time now. Randy is extremely professional, easy to talk to and seems to understand taxes inside and out. Last year when I worked from home, he went through a bunch of scenarios with me to find out what tax breaks I might qualify for. All and all, I am very happy with the tax services, seems a little pricey but hey, you get what you pay for. He was very willing to answer my questions and thoroughly explain anything I did not understand.

I initially contacted H & R Block to assist in filing my taxes, but after several phone interactions with rather rude and unaware staff I decided to look elsewhere. H & R Block was unable to answer questions regarding filing in multiple states (I had relocated here June 2014 from Indiana) and the staff was also incredibly mysterious in providing me with a ballpark estimate for my filing cost. They said it was not possible to estimate such a cost as every client is different.
So I fortunately stumbled upon ABC Tax Service and after reading a decent amount of positive reviews, I decided to give a local business a try. Randy is extremely knowledgeable in the field and knew exactly what items were able to be written off (in my case, moving expenses, student loan, etc) as well as which items were unnecessary to be included in the filing.
The entire process was quick and efficient and I left with a professional folder filled with pertinent documents to file for my records. He also kindly gave me a wonderful discount, which was an added bonus!
I highly recommend Randy and ABC Tax Service as the experience was well worth venturing out from what could have been an H & R Block nightmare!
