Established in 2001.

Founded in 2001, Akeena Solar’s philosophy is simple: We believe producing clean electricity directly from the sun is the right thing to do for our environment and economy. Akeena Solar has grown to become one of the largest national installers of residential and commercial solar power systems in California and the United States. The company’s new integrated solar panel system, Andalay AC, is the only solar panel system with integrated racking, wiring and grounding and micro-​inverter. Andalay AC panels offer unprecedented reliability, performance and aesthetics.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Our founder and CEO, Barry Cinnamon, is a widely recognized expert and long-​time advocate of solar power. Mr. Cinnamon began his career in solar energy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) earning a BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering went on to earn an MBA in Marketing from Wharton. During the late 1970s and early 1980s, he designed and installed active solar, passive solar and ground coupled heat pump systems. He is a NABCEP Certified Solar Installer, a licensed California C-​46 Solar Contractor, an active member of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group and a member of the Board of Directors of the national Solar Energy Industries Association and California Solar Energy Industry Association.
