Banged Up On 30th

This is the only place I get my hair cut and I come up from South Bay just for the cut. George is a true professional. He will cut any style you like, or will suggest what looks good on you.
And George will entertain you as he works. Great guy.

I recently cut off all my hair and was looking for someone to help me with the maintenance. I came in with a bit of a hack job, and George fixed me right up. His attention to detail is amazing, and he hand trimmed my hair, rather than buzzing it with clippers, which made the shape much more feminine. He really listened to what I asked for and produced an even better result. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. I’ll be a customer for a very long time!

Great service, warm welcome, and extremely reasonable prices. The owner, Jorge («George») is funny, personable, and provides excellent customer service. I had my hair done by Teresa, and she was patient (necessary with my curly hair) and exacting. My style and cut came out perfect, neat and every hair in place!
This place is easily missed if you are rushing past on 30^th. But, it is worth a visit if you are in need of hair services.
Oh, and they have tattoo services as well (can’t vouch for those yet, but…)

COME HERE NOW. this place is the best for haircuts and colors… men and women. George has been cutting and coloring my hair for 15 years. I won’t go anywhere else! I have followed him from his garage in Imperial Beach, to his shop in Chula Vista and now this exciting spot in North Park. He knows what he’s doing! And he’s so much fun to talk to while he’s creating a masterpiece on your head :) You won’t find a better price anywhere. Honestly. He lets Theresa do the shampoo and she massages your scalp… heaven! I could sit there for hours. Give this shop a try. you WON’T be disappointed.

I’ve been seeing George for a little over a year now after he moved to this location from Chula Vista. Absolutely love it. This guy has done more epic and difficult things with my hair than anyone. The first huge project was going blonde. My hair is naturally black, and he managed to get me up to a platinum blonde without leaving any trace of browns/​orange, and without having it be fried to the point of no return. The upkeep was insane, but he was up to the challenge. I’ve gone red, purple, and chocolate brown within the past eight months, and have had a wide variety of cuts, since I can’t settle on the same style for too long, all of it done flawlessly.
The atmosphere is great, the conversation always hilarious, and everyone seems to be having a great time at any given point of the day. If he’s super busy, he’ll have Teresa (sorry if I spelled your name wrong!) give me a cut after a color or treatment, and she always does an amazing job as well. He only picks hairstylists who love their craft to share the space and it definitely shows and pays off. Will always recommend this spot to anyone! Looove it!

As a first time customer, I must say that the general atmosphere at Banged Up was great. The haircut was excellant! A friendly welcome also made for a very relaxing experience. The overall service added with a mid-​tempo beat playing in the background topped it all off.

I wandered in here a couple of weeks ago looking to get my nails done, as every other nail salon on 30^th asked me to come back later. Banged Up on 30^th didn’t have a current manicurist, so I was disappointed with that, but there IS a tattoo parlor in the back. George was super friendly and convinced me to at least get my hair trimmed before leaving. I asked for a basic trim, no layers or anything. Donovan took care of me and did exactly as I asked PLUS styled my hair after and made it look amazing. That alone made me feel good because I’ve gone in for haircuts and the stylist sends me on my way with my hair wet. I had so many compliments the rest of the day on my haircut. :) So with shampoo, cut, and style, the price was amazing. I’m going to make sure to come back here anytime I need a haircut.
George, GET A MANICURIST! This way I can hang out with you and Donovan longer. I may even get a tattoo later.

When my regular stylist at another salon was on vacation, I felt lost, not knowing where I’d get my haircut. I happened to drive by Banged Up on 30^th and had Teresa cut my hair. She did a GREAT job! I was very pleased. This casual salon is a nice gem in North Park. Everyone who works there is fun and friendly! I’ll be back.

I’ve toyed with the idea of cutting my long hair for a pixie cut for years. A friend with an awesome, funky cut told me to go see George. I am so glad because he was awesome! He was completely confident (which is what you want when you’re cutting all your hair off), was honest about what would and wouldn’t work for my face, and did an incredible job. A month later people who see me every day are still commenting on how cool my cut is! I have not looked this «put together» in years. He will be my stylist from now on.
George really knows his stuff (including color), is passionate about being a really great stylist, and is super interesting to talk to. Sounds like he’s led quite a life and has great stories to tell.
There are some projects in progress in the shop so it doesn’t look too finished at this point, but don’t let that scare you away. I really think you’ll be glad you stayed.

I was walking around north park trying to find a place without waiting to get my haircut. I went to banged up and wasn’t waiting for long before I was greeted by George. We didn’t even have to exchange 5 words before he knew the kind of haircut I wanted. Not only did it turn out awesomely the whole time we were talking I felt like I was talking to an old friend. Definitely going to be getting more business from me in the future. He did such a good job I made a Unilocal just to write a review.

This place is awesome! I was in search of a place with my boyfriend for a barber here in north park, we walked a round for awhile before we saw this place after many others. It just had a good vibe so we went to check it out. Jorge took us as a walk in and was extremely friendly and it was genuine. We showed him a picture of the haircut my boyfriend wanted to try out and he went to work. The haircut looks amazing, everyone was really nice, and the price was excellent! I have gone to the same hairstylists for a couple years now, and I’ll be going to banged up from now on too. Highly recommend!

I just stopped in to check this place out, since in my neighborhood and my regular haircutter just moved away.
Totally reasonable price, nice guy (George cut my hair) and did a good job with the haircut.

This is one of the best place to go to get your hair done. Guys and ladies. I’ve been going to George before he moved to north park. He is that good that I will travel wherever he goes to get my hair done. Great guy awesome place and what I like the most is that he pays attention to detail.

I’ve never had a steady place to go to for my hair needs until I met George at his last location. I have been going to him for close to two years now, because of the amazing job he does. I’ve had different hairstyles, haircuts, and color in the past two years, just can’t go wrong with his work and dedication. Good prices, great work, and awesome atmosphere.

So I went to this unassuming place in North Park by a referral. I was WAY overdue for a cut. Hortensia was kind enough to be able to accommodate me at short notice. After listening to me attempt to describe what I «wanted» Hortensia was able to work some (quick!) shear magic on my (lbs!) Of hair. Then she gave me a kick ass blow out that I was sad to have to put up for work. Luckily when I took it down later it was still intact and I was ready for the party. I will be back!
Also the other salon workers were really nice and welcoming. I had a great conversation and laughs as the owner jumped in to help wash my hair. His lovely wife, Maria, offered me a ice blended coffee drink which was most satisfying on that hot Sat. Thanks again guys!

For Mother’s Day we took my mom here to get her hair cut, colored and styled. Hortencia was my moms stylist, she made us feel very welcome had good conversation and knew exactly what my mom wanted! Her hair looks amazing! Great job!
The owners were there as well and they were great! They made my mom a great lil expresso drink and also gave me a drink. I decide together a gel pedi by Sarah who’s Frikken awesome! Only $ 20 for a gel pedi?! Loved it looks great! Will deff be back!

My hair hadn’t been done in two months, so the reds had lightened to orange and the light blondes had yellowed and my ashy roots had grown out. I told him I wanted to vivid red chunks, not stripes, with the blondes. George colored my hair so beautifully with the way he sectioned it. The way he integrated my new growth with the new coloring makes it look like my hair naturally grows in this way. When it grows out in a couple of weeks there won’t be a hard line screaming, «touch-​up!!» It’s so nice when you trust someone new to do their thing with you and it works out.
The only reason I don’t give it a five star is because the red color doesn’t hold that long. I’ve gone twice now and while I am totally stoked on his application, the colors fade much quicker than I care for. Reds do have a tendency to drain fast, so keep that in mind.
I absolutely love the his artistic touch though! He gave me an edgy look with the cut even though my hair is long. He also gave me a really good price too, which will allow me to return more frequently. I’m really excited to see what he has envisioned for me next!
