Barbara Perlitch, DDS

I am currently a full time graduate student so I don’t have dental insurance. I went to Dr. Barbara Perlitch using a Groupon for a cleaning and x-​rays. I’ve never had a cavity in my life but when I went to see her she told me I had a cavity on one of my teeth in the back of my mouth. They didn’t take a biting x-​ray, only a panoramic x-​ray which didn’t reveal any decay. I trusted her assessment and they gave me a quote of $ 300 to fill the cavity. I thought that price was a little high for a one surface filling so I got a referral to another dentist from a family friend just to see a price comparison. When I went to see this dentist he examined the tooth, took a biting x-​ray and photograph of the tooth. He explained to me that there was some staining on the tooth but no cavity. He told me that even if it wasn’t visible on the x-​ray he would be able to feel some decay when poking the tooth but he felt nothing. I was shocked and appalled that I almost paid $ 300 for nothing. Although I thought Dr. Perlitch was very nice and didn’t have an issue with her demeanor I wouldn’t recommend going to see Dr. Perlitch.

I originally went to see Dr. Perlitch for a teeth cleaning using a Groupon. I had no particular intention of finding a permanent dentist after my wonderful experience there she is now most definitely my forever dentist.
Dr. Perlitch has cultivated a wonderful camaraderie i’m on her staff that makes visiting the office something to look forward to. She also really seems to take both pleasure and pride in the work she does which is itself exceptional. I was especially pleasantly surprised that she did all of the teeth cleaning (something usually done by a dental hygienist) herself. Even though my initial visit was for a Groupon, she was so thorough and I felt like I was a long time patient of hers after a mere five minutes in her company.
I went back again to have a veneer repaired and again received wonderful service and top-​notch dental work. I wholeheartedly intend to recommend her business to friends and family and to keep visiting for future cleanings and any dental work I need down the road.
If you are looking for an easy-​going, enjoyable, yet extremely talented, attentive, and all-​around professional dentist, Dr. Perlitch is a great choice.

Extremely pleasant experience! I cannot remember the last dentist office I went to where the dentist themselves did the cleaning and work. Usually it is the RDA that does the cleaning and then the Dr themselves walk in, look at the x-​ray, sit down, look at your teeth, make a few scrapes so you think they are really paying attention, then looks at the RDA and says good to go! Not that their is anything wrong with that because I know how dentist offices work, so I was very surprised to discover that Dr Perlitch actually takes the time to do the cleaning herself. No RDA.
From the moment I walked in the very nice offices, I felt welcomed. Since it was October, the office was all decorated for Halloween. Very fun to see.
While I was filling out the paper work, Dr Perlitch actually walked out to introduce herself to me as she was getting some coffee. She even asked if she could get me some, or some water. Wow!
Even thought this was my first time in her office and I have good insurance, knowing I had been seen in the past year in a different dentist office, they told me they would call that dentist and get my x-​rays. They were not about trying to make money any way they could. I appreciated that.
The office is extremely clean. The entire staff was welcoming and actually showed that they enjoy working there and for the Dr. Some offices you can tell when people are unhappy. Dr Perlitch has a personality and can actually have a conversation with you and genuinely interested in what you say. Unlike some Drs that are lacking in social skills.
I highly recommend Dr Perlitch and her awesome office!

Best experience I’ve ever had with a dentist. I purchased a groupon to have x-​rays & a cleaning. The office was so cute decorated with Halloween decorations! The front desk people were very friendly, and Barbara was very present and very kind. Usually I’m gripping my hands and my stomach is doing flips while at the dentist, but this was the first time I’ve ever felt comfortable! Barbara is upfront with pricing and recommendations which I appreciate. I’ve found my new dentist!

Due to moving around and not having dental insurance, I had gone 3 years without having my teeth cleaned. I didn’t even know where to look for a dentist till my neighbor recommend checking Groupon. I poured through the many offers and then checked reviews for those dentists and lots of people were getting terrible service. I was about to give up and then I found Barbara Perlitch. The reviews were amazing so I called and made an appointment and was able to get in the next day. To my surprise, not only were the reviews spot on, but my experience surpassed my expectations. The office was spotless, even the bathroom. The staff was very kind and helpful. They even remembered my requests when I made the appointment. Barbara Perlitch did an amazing job cleaning my teeth. And Yes, She Does It Herself. She did a thorough job and was gentle at the same time. Highly recommend!!!

This truly was the best and most enjoyable dental experience I’ve ever had. I redeemed a groupon for an X-​ray, exam, and cleaning. I was warmly welcomed by Dr. Perlitch and the staff whom were all very friendly and accommodating. After the paperwork was finished, the wait to be seen was minimal. The exam room faces a bustling view of the freeways and businesses of mission valley and also had 2 televisions– one was mounted in the ceiling for viewing while you’re laying down which was nice.
As for the exam itself, Dr. Perlitch was very kind, thorough, informative, and really a pleasure to make conversation with.
I understand that this practice usually specializes in more advanced dentistry other than general cleanings & exams but I would gladly buy another groupon and would even consider paying the standard fees for a repeat experience.

I would recommend this practice. Very friendly and professional, super high-​tech office/​equipment, and located right off the highway (no parking drama either). I went for routine exam/​x-​rays/​cleaning, and everything was as smooth and pleasant as it can be. Doctor gives clear and smart advice how to prevent dental problems and educates you about it. It was easy to set an appointment; they got me time/​day I needed, within a week of my first contact with them.

Love this place. They are always so sweet when you come and they clearly enjoy working with each other and have a great time. It’s nice to come into a dental office and have a bit of a good time while you’re there. And they do good work too :)

Dr. Perlitch and her team are amazing! I couldn’t wait to write a review because I was so blown away with my experience. I purchased a groupon for a cleaning and ex rays and I’m sure glad I did! At most dentist offices you barely get to see the dentist but here Dr. Perlitch takes the time to get to know you and makes you feel very comfortable. The office was very clean, had a bubbly staff and televisions on the ceilings! I will def be recommending her to my boyfriend and all of my friends!

LOVE Dr. Perlitch and her staff. I’m a busy person so scheduling online was so appreciated vs. having to play phone tag with the office.
No waiting around or lag time between activities. I’m appreciative that Dr. Perlitch is also the one that cleaned my teeth… so nice to know she’s getting an extra look at my mouth.
I knew going in I would have a fair amount of work to be done, as I hadn’t been to the dentist in 2 year. :(Her staff set out a simple treatment plan that is manageable.

Dr. Perlich and her team made one of the BEST DENTAL EXPERIENCES I’ve ever had! For starters, I hate going to the dentist– it can be expensive, scary, painful etc… but none of that was the case with my recent visit.
Everybody was very friendly and warm (the girl who first checked me in (sorry, I forgot your name), Amy who got me started (dental hygienist??- took my xrays), and Dr. Perlich herslef. The facility is beautiful, the equipment high tech and everything is created to make it a nice experience (they even have coffee and tea etc. while you wait).
Dr. Perlich herself was amazing– friendly, gentle and thorough, explaining everything as we went along (I’m the type who likes to know everything), and put me at ease about everything. She told me about new options I’d not heard of (‘been to several other dentists) to make my fighting-middle-age-self’s teeth stronger and prettier, plus, gave me options I could live with to improve my dental health (instead of things like «never eat candy or drink coffee again» type advice that I just wouldn’t really follow… I HIGHLY recommend her and her staff– thanks to the Dr. Perlich team for making my visit a great one!

I found Dr. Perlitch through Groupon after searching for a new dentist throughout my last few cleanings (my last dentist’s prices had gotten a little high, so I thought I’d do some shopping around). I have tried dentists out using Groupon and other discount sites before, but with most of them you get what you pay for (discount on the service matched the lesser experience I was given). This was NOT the case with Dr. Perlitch!
I was very pleasantly surprised when I walked in the office and was greeted by a smiling staff and beautiful surroundings (free coffee/​water, clean upscale waiting area). Dr. Perlitch started my exam with a soft-​tissue exam — which no dentist has ever done for me before — to insure sure my glands and surrounding areas felt a-​ok. Love the thoroughness! My cleaning was done by Dr. Perlitch herself (no hygienist!) after a complete consultation (in which she actually listened), and I was given pointers throughout. There were flat screens on the wall AND ceiling (why don’t more dentists do this?!), and I was made to feel extremely comfortable and at-​home. These folks do it right… the dentist is never a fun time, but I could’ve sat in that chair all day!

Even though these guys are a bit farther than the mile I had been driving to my previous dentist, I will gladly make the drive to go back. I have found my new dentist! Highly recommend!

I loooove Barbara and her fantastic and very positive staff! I was very fortunate to have a very good friend recommend Barbara a few months ago. I had a consultation with Barabara initially and had such a wonderful and positive experience, due to their encouragement and uplifting spirit, that I knew these were the individuals I was going to work with in improving my smile.
As a new patient, I arrived with quite a few «issues», as a result of having bulimia and a strong desire for all sorts of ‘goodies” in my 20’s and 30’s Since then, I have learned to curb those sweet cravings and embody a healthy lifestyle (minus the sugar free gum and occasional hot chocolate! (lol). However, I was still left with decay and old crowns that desperately needed attention.
Barbara and her staff have developed an affordable plan so that I can confidently smile again and look toward a decay free and gorgeous mouth in the years ahead. I will say that I have been «courted» by many dentists since initially consulting with Barbara and no one has even come close to «wowing» me like they have here.
I highly recommend Barbara Perlitch and her staff. They present an entirely new wonderful and fun way to look at dentistry.

My boyfriend had an awful wisdom tooth giving him major problems this past weekend. I called the office past business hours and asked the answering service to leave a message for the dentist explaining the situation. The first thing that surprised me was the Dr. Perlitch actually called me back! She gave me information on what was happening and was extremely helpful on letting me know when would be the best time to see him. I was able to get the boyfriend an appointment Monday afternoon and when we arrived we were greeted by an extremely welcoming and friendly staff. We were taken back by Dr. Perlitch herself and instantly started the exam once the paperwork was all finished. The boyfriend ended up needing to have his wisdom tooth extracted and from the past experience with dentists pulling teeth for him, well, he was pretty anxious and very nervous about this extraction. But with the friendly staff and the awesome technique of Dr. Perlitch, my boyfriend was able to actually leave the dentist smiling and laughing on the way out compared to the complete opposite of what he was used to before. This is the first time he has ever been WANTING to go back to a dentist to get his teeth fixed and healthy. Thank you so much everyone and especially Dr. Perlitch for all the help and laughter! Anyone who can make someone who hates the dentist come out smiling and happy is awesome possum in my book! :D

Dr Barbara Perlitch was my angel this past weekend.
Saturday evening while eating dinner one of my front crowns dislodged. I am not sure how many people can relate to this situation but for me this was a disaster. The visual impact was awful and as a person who conducts face to face business daily I knew I had to act fast because Monday was fast arriving.
I googled «emergency dentistry San Diego» and got quite a few choices. After one call I discovered emergency dentistry did not mean crown replacement. None the less, it was an emergency for me. Next I googled «Dentists open Sunday San Diego». I got one choice, Soft Touch Dental.
Sunday morning I called, got an appointment and had my front crown back in by 11:30 am.
I not only recommend Dr Perlitch for her extremely rare availability but also for her good nature, professionalism and kindness. I would definitely consider her for my primary care dentist in the future.

I went into Dr. Perlitch’s office at 5:30 PM on a Monday afternoon after seeing her advertisement for a free initial exam. When I walked into the office, there were no other staff there, and Dr. Perlitch herself greeted me at the door. Though I found this kind of odd, I went along with it and hopped into the exam chair. Dr. Perlitch explained to me that I would receive a copy of my xrays (that are good for 3 – 5 years) digitally in my email. Cool! Or so I thought.
Dr. Perlitch used digital xray equipment and took the time to explain the process to me, and also to explain exactly what she saw in each x-​ray image. I was impressed by Dr. Perlitch’s patience and gentle manner. She told me that I had a few shallow cavities in my molars and told me that I would not even need local anesthesia for the drilling. All during the exam, she told me that I had great oral health, healthy gums, and that I had almost no plaque between my teeth, which she said was amazing for someone who hadn’t seen a doctor in 2 years.
She then asked me if I would like to schedule a time to come in for a cleaning and cavity filling, to which I replied, I’d have to check what my insurance covers first. Dr. Perlitch then asked me what insurance I had, and I told her I had Guardian. She told me that they do not accept Guardian, but that she would be willing to work out a deal with me. I asked her if I could have a copy of the exam records and the digital images of the xrays as she promised in the beginning.
This is where the exam turned sour. All of a sudden, Dr. Perlitch said that I would benefit from a deep cleaning (I thought I had great dental hygiene and no plaque??), as well as a mouthpiece to wear while I was sleeping because apparently my enamel was worn thin from grinding while I slept — She quoted me the mouthpiece at $ 500. No way.
I told her I would get back to her on scheduling a follow up appointment after I received the email digital images and results from my exam.
A week and half later? No follow up from Dr. Perlitch or her staff. No email, nothing.

Finally received email from Dr. Perlitch’s office to schedule some follow up visits. No digital images of my xrays were included, unfortunately. Included in the estimates were treatments for deep periodontal cleaning and cavity fillings, which totaled about $ 2600, which I find to be quite pricey. One star for Dr. Perlitch recommending another dentist to me who accepts my insurance. Good thing, because I will definitely be looking out for other options.

I had an appointment with Dr. Perlitch’s Dental Hygienist Rosario this week. Its been nearly 2 years since I have been to a dentist since I have very sensitive teeth and usually experience pain when they tinker around in there. I can honestly say this was my best dental experience ever! No pain at all. I found the office staff professional and pleasant. After the cleaning Dr. Perlitch came in and examined my teeth and made some recommendations which I will be following up on ASAP.
I’m happy to be back on track with my dental care. If you’re looking for a trustworthy, honest, experienced, caring Dentist… you can’t go wrong with Dr. Perlitch.
