Barons Market, Point Loma

I went to Barron’s for my first time after it was suggested by a friend. All the isles were orderly and very neat. Wide variety of vegan options at a lower price than whole foods. Courteous and efficient employees too!

I am a fan of Barons because I like organic and clean food alternatives. The staff here is friendly, much nicer than the Alpine location. At other healthy markets it feels as if you’re spending an entire paycheck just to get basics, here its a little different. Yes you pay a little extra for better food, but its not a put a hole your wallet type of deal here.

This is a small neighborhood market with full of reasonably priced products including locally grown organic produces.
People are friendly (very important!) and they would open up the second and sometimes third register right away when the line gets long. Great job Barons!

Great local grocery market that is walking distance from my place. Lots of good deli items they have an awesome olive bar, cheeses, huge beer selection with my favorite Belching Beaver peanut butter stout, lots goodies. It’s more expensive than Trader Joes and they don’t sell raw milk but then again I don’t have to drive or wait in traffic when I need something in a pinch. Staff is pretty chill and laid back. I like their roast chicken and salsa as well.

Cheap good produce! Heirloom tomatoes and cucumbers are the best here! French feta cheese is delicious! Thanks to this market I make Greek salad all the time. Super cheap Valencia oranges (stock up for juicing)!German pumpernickel bread that’s hard to find. Also Finn crisp crackers! Great selection if hot soups! $ 5 rotisserie chicken. Good wine and beer selection. Deli salad bar (pasta salad and olives are my favorite). Always friendly customer service.

Love sneaking over here while I get my car washed across the street. Barons beer selection is awesome! I enjoy picking up some tasty gluten free beverages as well as some inexpensively priced produce. The store is small yet their selection is vast somehow. Until next time:) Cheers!

I love the salad bar and their premade sandwiches! I come here pretty often to get lunch or dinner. My favorite sandwich is the turkey with chipotle cranberry sauce on the baguette bread. I also love the rosemary rolls they have at the salad bar. They have a decent selection of wine here which I love. They also have a great section of ice cream and single glass bottle sodas that I can’t find at other grocery stores. The fresh produce is a little more expensive than other places but it definitely is very fresh. They don’t have a very large boxed food section since they are about shopping fresh. They have some boxed stuff but not a very large variety. The staff here is always friendly and approachable. If you ever need help with anything they are more than happy to help.

Love this place! I’m so happy they have the salad bar. Great soups and the produce is awesome. Prices for certain things are pricy but well worth it. You pay for what you get!

All natural! All organic! All overpriced!
People, PEOPLE! It is possible to do natural and organic without breaking the bank. This is not where you do it. Bigger than most organic places. But I think that’s where the pricing comes in. Good stuff, don’t get me wrong. Friendly staff, for the most part.
It’s a commercialized organic food chain. I don’t know what else to tell you.

Barons! ah I go here all the time, and I am ALWAYS swearing on the way out. F&*()*& I should have gone to Trader Joes! Its VERY expensive in here.
I am grateful Barons exists don’t get me wrong GREAT selection of breads, vegan/​Veg meat supplements, beer. I love it I really do, I just wish it was a PINCH cheaper, just a pinch. I mean are the expenses really as high as Whole Foods?
Always clean in here and I go here mostly for convenience and because Trader Joes sometimes is just too intense.

Despite being a Baron’s fan for nearly ten years, until today I never tried their rotisserie chicken. Wow, was I missing out. Very tasty and not at all dry and overcooked like Ralphs and VONS. That and the price ($ 4.99) make this the perfect entrée when I don’t want to cook. If only they had a location closer to my condo in Normal Heights. A boy can dream.

I can never seem to make it over here enough. I could walk around this place all day and continue seeing things I missed before. The size of this store seems perfect to me. It’s big enough to have a great variety but not so small that it seems packed in. I love all the containers with different mixes, nuts, seeds, etc. The produce section is huge and always fully stocked with the freshest fruits and vegetables. They also have a good variety of soups that are kept warm so you can eat immediately or take home for a different meal. The salad bar is huge with tons of condiments that you can use to customize your salad. They carry quite a bit of organic foods at a very comparable price.

Things in particular that are awesome about Barons:
1. Twinnings Loose tea (impossible to find)
2. 67 cents for bananas (and better quality than the 69 cent ones at Vons)
3. Baron’s brand ice cream
4. Marinated mushrooms in the olive section
5. Baller wine and beer selection
I can find almost nothing wrong with Barons. The prices are excellent and they have some great products that you can’t find almost anywhere else nearby. The defacto house brand/​generic, Ronaldo, is pretty decent as well — particularly their Asian and Italian condiments and sauces. One of the best grocery stores I’ve been to — I only wish it was bigger, so I could get absolutely everything there.

I had driven by this place dozens of times and never really been compelled to go in. I finally did and now I’m hooked. It’s kind of feels like a combination of Trader Joes, Sprouts, and Whole Foods, but pretty cheap in comparison to all them when it comes to most things.

Supporting local businesses, I never thought I would be able to say I do that even during my grocery shopping! I love farmer’s markets, but convenience trumps all in my busy life. I just don’t have the time to stop at a farmer’s market, then a drugstore, then a grocery store to grab everything I need for the week. However, Barons satisfies my craving for avoiding big box while satisfying all of my needs.
There are only 4 locations of Barons market, 2 of which are in San Diego. Open from 8 am to 9 pm, don’t expect to be grabbing any late night munchies from them. Plenty of parking in front of the store. I’m still trying to get my bearings around the store. It looks like drugstore finds are on the very left as you enter the building. Moving clockwise, you’ll find drinks, dairy, deli, produce, and bakery around the perimeter. The center aisles are much more confusing and is the ONLY area of improvement I can recommend. The signs for each aisle say «Marketplace.» That can mean anything! Unless you move stuff around often, you can probably afford to write «herbs & spics, etc.»
I couldn’t find too many people helping out, but I’m sure I could get some if I tried. I will continue to support them, not only because of its proximity to my house (it shares that honor with Grocery Outlet), but also for the support every local business deserves to compete with the corporations. Go Barons!

I love love love shopping at Barons! It’s like a mini version of Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s.
Over the years, this store has just gotten better and better! They now have a fantastic salad bar and sell roasted chicken for only $ 4.99 ($ 2 cheaper than the Sprouts nearby). The lentil soup is very flavorful with a little spicy kick to it.
Their produce top notch – a mix of regular and organic. They also have a good selection of gluten free and healthy conscious foods. Some of my favorite things include the organic almond milk (the coffee flavored one is my new favorite), really tasty Mexican papaya, crumbled feta, Swedish imported cheese. I only purchase my oranges from Barons, as they are good and juicy year-​round. They also sell a lot of European hard to find products, such as selected pastries. Also, I love the Sadaf Persian products.
If you have a question about any of their produce, the staff is usually friendly enough to cut open the product and let you sample it! They are very helpful and nice!
No, they don’t have a weekly sales ad like usual grocery stores, but the prices are very reasonable, if not cheaper than other stores.

Barons Market is a small, but well stocked grocery store full of reasonably priced organic produce, made without goodies and necessities, cupboard staples and a few imaginative snack items (chocolate covered maple smoked bacon soda?!) for those days when you have made the mistake of shopping while under the influence of hunger.
We had already had lunch at Embargo Grill across the street, so I haven’t tried the reportedly amazing soup and salad bar or any of the prepared foods at Barons Market. If we are ever in the area again this will be our go to grocery store.

This place is right down the street from my apt and I can walk here if there are any last minute items I have forgotten. I love their bulk items and also the quality of their products. Some stuff is cheaper some more expensive but, they have fresh baked hamburger hot dog buns and I love that!

This is a very nice neighborhood market. I stopped in to see if they had some avocados and sweet potatoes. Luckily for me they had both, and to my pure happiness, they also had Fuerte Avocados, and old California standards, but still flavorful alternative. (
) At .97 a piece, I picked up a couple.
I liked that they had sweet potatoes at individual serving sizes, and at .88 cents per pound, I picked up a half a dozen. (
After picking up what I needed, I browse the store and noticed they had premade sandwiches and figured they would be perfect for work so, I picked up a Turkey and Provolone on wheat for only $ 2.99 (
). Great deal!
Service at the register was just fine. The dual tandem there were quite humorous and laughed at my jokes, so that is always good. I liked this store because they had a great produce section (
) and I learned they bake bread in the store.
