Great beer. Calm chill atmosphere. And great service.
This place is perfect to go when you want to chill, have a great beer, and actually hear the person you are having a conversation with. Never too loud or too busy.

This is a cool bar /​brewery in an industrial part of Grantville /​Eastern Mission Valley. Parking is easy. There are roughly 10 beers on tap and they currently sell 3 of theirs in cans as well.
The oatmeal stout was delicious and not overly filling and my friend loved his blonde.
I would critique the theme a little — the picnic tables are conducive to meeting some new people I guess, but they are still less comfortable than having some chairs with backs on them.
I’ll be back; I enjoyed this place and can’t wait to try some other brews here!

I dig the outdoors theme. Where can I get some of their topo map wall paper?! This is a must stop for me after a hike at Mission Trails or to grab some cans to share. I especially enjoy the mellow environment and how there is a regularly rotating selection. There is also free wifi and plenty of parking! The big bench tables are perfect for me to grab a couple of tasty beers, spread out some notes, and work on my laptop. Go enjoy some Benchmark «beer flavored beer.» Cheers!

Superb little brewery right off of the 8 @ Mission Gorge. Good taster selection available, ample parking, and near some of the Grantville/​Allied Garden restaurants if you want to snag a post beer meal. Highly recommended. IPA is very smooth and well hopped, the stout excellent.

This place rocks. The beer is amazing (try the Oatmeal Stout if you like dark beers), the employees are friendly, and the interior is sweet. You feel like you’re in an industrial brewery that set up a lounge in the corner for friends and family. I can’t say enough about the beer. I sampled 4 in one night and each one was delicious.

Very cool brewery! Great atmosphere and staff. And most importantly awesome beer. We got a sampler of their beer and enjoyed every last drop!

Yet another little piece of awesome in Grantville, a place that’s quickly becoming one of my favorite «secrets» in San Diego. Benchmark is down the road and around the corner from Groundswell, so you’d be okay tasting at both in a couple hour time span. (Note: go ahead and Über home or have a DD.)
The beer is as great as you’d expect it to be from a SD Brewery, but what sets them apart is the people. They’re always willing to help out their customers — whether it’s a fantasy football draft for some beer friends, or just a bunch of futbol fans, they’ll help you out with the picnic tables (and great beer.) The game watching set-​up is pretty rad too since it’s a giant projector screen. I’ve only watched soccer here, but I’d think a Chargers game would be pretty awesome too. Definitely worth a stop (or trip) when you’re in the ‘hood.

I visited back right when they opened. Newly renovated space near Chargers stadium in Mission Valley. Some seriously nice décor going on in here. Reminded me a bit of Le Cumbre Brewing inside with an upstairs area, lots of wood rafters. Picnic bench seating. 6 or so beers on tap, all house beers, with a special cask on as well as homemade soda, strawberry that day. Prices were good, service friendly. Beer quality was average with their IPA being the best and their cask offering being the worst tasting like sanitizer. Also worth noting this is a closed in, central air place as most tasting rooms in the area are not.

This place is cool. I loved the layout and loved the beer. The cool guy working was great and helped us select beers for tasting. He was friendly and helpful. We tried so many! I’m into stouts and my fav was the oatmeal stout.
I was surprised that more people weren’t in this place, but I guess it was a Wednesday early afternoon. There is plenty of room here to bring your friends. The tasting room was clean and has a modern décor. I didn’t expect such a cool chill vibe considering its location, but I was pleased.
I had been wanted to try Benchmark for a while, but came in this time to complete my Ale Trail passport. I was able to earn some really cool beer drinking socks. Maybe I’ll sport them next time I come in.

Benchmark Brewing Company is located in the Northeast corner of the 8 and 15, a convenient stop from either freeway. Viewed from the front, it looks like a normal business in this industrial park, but once you walk through the doors… well that’s another story altogether!
We headed over to Benchmark Brewing on a Saturday. The first thing you notice when you walk through the doors is a really cool art piece with the Benchmark logo on it. Head to the left and check out the wall which features the work of a local artist Danny Griego. really nice touch from a Really great artist.
I have to say up front, I don’t usually talk about any particular beers in my reviews because everyone has different tastes and in my reviews, I like to focus on the tasting room and my experience there. However, I am making an exception here. We tasted one of Matt Akin’s masterpieces, Stargazer, on cask. Definitely one of the best beers I have ever tasted! If you see it around town, I suggest you get it while you can, because quantities are limited.
I also enjoyed the many session-​style beers, which allow you to sample a few more pints because the alcohol content is lower than in some other styles. In fact, I could see myself enjoying a whole day here. Wait a minute, I just did!

I have visited a couple of times. Very casual and relaxed environment. When entering the tasting room, you may notice the projector TV towards the right, communal picnic benches, along with several high top tables and bar stools. Beyond the staircase is the brewery and taps. Sometime soon, there should be additional space available upstairs for private events. Large topography maps across the wall and branding leans towards hiking and outdoorsy trail themes, both of which are accessible around San Diego county. Wouldn’t it be a neat promo to incorporate some geocaching with redeemable beer tokens?
The friendly beertender asked me how old I was. Hooray for deceptively youthful genetics! We got a couple of taster flights. There is no set flight special or limit, but tasters will run between $ 1.5-$ 2/​ea. and 12oz pours are $ 4-​$ 5. Muffin tins make for convenient caddies to transport beer tasters to the table. On Wednesdays, if you’re a local resident from the 92 120, 92 123, 92 108, 92 115 or 92 116 zip codes (regulars are apparently eligible too if the beertender knows your name), you can get $ 2 pours of the Local’s Beer of the Day. I especially like when they have cask and nitro beers on the menu, but bummed that they do not have barrel aged varieties available.
Benchmark Brewing is towards the end of Fairmount Ave at Vandever Ave, west of the hospital and around the corner from neighbor brewery, Groundswell, and a few blocks away from San Diego Brewing Company. Look for the Benchmark signage flag by the sidewalk. Cheers!

Awesome tasting room with tons of picnic seating and tall tables. The staff was very nice and descriptive with their suggestions and the beer was. Dry tasty. We went on a Sunday so there was plenty of parking in the office park. Look for the sign as you are pulling up.

Got there around 9:15 to grab a few beers before they close at 10… CLOSED before posted time without any note. Booo I was really hoping to finally try their beer, and I had to get out of my way to drive there!

Without a doubt one of the most warm and inviting breweries I’ve come across, Benchmark Brewing offers a particularly comfortable environment with loads of communal tables, high tables and even plants to accent the place. Case in point, I saw numerous couples with their young children here. Not a terribly common sight, but hey it works.
That being said, the beers here are just average. Decent single and double IPAs that could use some work in terms of balance along with less than stellar oatmeal and imperial stouts IMHO. For those who aren’t as into beer, it was nice to see cold brew coffee available on tap.

Cool new brewery tucked away in a industrial zone of Mission valley.
The layout of the space is comfortable, lots of seating area and table. Lots of natural wood trim all round the brewery. Beer section is not big but pretty solid, there is something for everyone. I tried Table — light, crisp and circuity Belgian style beer and Brown ale, which has lots of toasty notes, as well its taste malty with a little smoke.

#1 shock was to find that I loved their regular ipa but their double ipa seemed mild in comparison! Great little spot they’ve created here with a loft for special events.

I’ve been here a few times, each time I have been schooled on beer as well as enjoyed the beers there. There is a lovely couple serving up nice cold cerveza with a smile.
If you order a few tasters they use a cupcake tin so you can comfortably take your beer to your table without spilling all over… yes I’m known to be messy and spill, especially on myself.
So the beer is quite tasty, my favorites were the oatmeal stout, dubbel and brown. I can’t say I tried the IPA’s but I’ve heard they are quite good. Make sure to stop in if you are in the area or even if you are far away.
Don’t forget my invite! I will definitely share a pint with you ;) Oh and they are dog friendly as well if you can’t leave the house without your four legged friend.

This is a great looking brewery. They really turned the front room not doe where you’d want to bring fiends it meet for a drink. They have a good range of beers.
Taster are cheap and there’s Usually a food truck. They also have ac so it’s nice place to finish a date or start one.
Can’t remember my favorite beer name. but the two light ones were really refreshing for the hot day we went there.
