Boll Weevil

This is a great place to bring a family with kids or to watch a game, have some brews etc. Brought our three kids ages 14, 5 and noisey 10 month old. Our server was really attentive and food came out fast. We had a pulled pork sandwich, club sandwich, hot wings, kids mac n cheese fries and curly fries, strawberry milkshake, and a Sunday. Everything was great! Will def be back. Nothing fancy but if you’re hungry and wanna get out with the fam here’s the place.

My husband has been wanting to come here for quite some time. Don’t let the exterior fool you the food here is great and so is the service. It has more of a local vibe to it which is what I love about this place. The burgers are great and every thing is made to order.

The food here was ok. The fries were really salty for my taste, but some people like that so it’s whatever.
I’m mostly writing this review because of my experience with one of the servers. There were two ladies on the side of the restaurant where we sat. The lady that helped us was new and did a great job. The veteran server sucked. The lady with the short reddish/​auburn hair didn’t even acknowledge us. Instead she stood by guests two tables from us and talked and talked and talked (very loud might I add). She Didn’t even help the new girl who took orders and bussed all of the other tables.
Then when my waitress asked for help from the veteran server, the lady again, didn’t acknowledge us and told my server to ask for help from the other girl.
Bad customer service veteran server… Maybe you should worry less about bragging about the «stripes» you’ve earned and worry more about your attitude and helping your new coworker.

Great food excellence service. The dining layout isn’t the best but the food is priced well. I recommend the fried mushrooms.

Yummy! Huge portion sizes but makes for great seconds. Ranch was delicious our server Alicia (who was amazing!!!) told us they make it there. I will definitely go again but with a heartier appetite

Ripoff. Got lied about my order by bald lazy young waiter. Kind young waitress went our her to fix it.
Got tricked into fries or salad witch was way extra. They should be upfront not just try to get your money. Weak burger and fries $ 10+ no drink or nothing mote

Excellent. Everything about this place makes you feel completely comfortable and welcomed. Nothing fancy, just great quality, delicious burgers. Fries and Onion Rings were both great as well.

If you’re craving a homemade burger the burgers here are pretty decent. They make fresh homemade french fries and onion rings as well. Today i indulged myself into a Burger with Jalepeno, pepper jack cheese, tomato and lettuce with Habanero sauce on the side. I must say, it was enjoyable. I also ordered a oreo milkshake which is the best milkshake i have ever had in my life!

Went here for dinner. I had the grilled bacon cheeseburger. I must say that this burger had lots of cheese which I love. The meat was seasoned well with salt. Meat was so juicy & the crunch of the bread was great. I also ordered French fries. Hubby had the triple bacon cheese burger which was huge. Hubby had a side of onion rings which I didn’t care for. It had a beer bitter taste to it & was so greasy.
Daughter had the corn dog with French fries which she loved. She finished half of her plate. Took the rest home.
Service was great by the lady serving us. She was friendly with us & her other customers. They had tv’s so you can watch sports. They also had a pool table with an old style juke book. It got noisy as more people came in. Great place to eat and hang out. I highly recommend this place.

I remember taking my little nephew to the Boll Weevil in San Marcos quite frequently many years ago so that he could eat and play video games. They closed down a while back and there were none left in North County. Now that I live in the South Bay, I was happy when I found one near my home. My wife and I decided to give it a shot to see if it was as good as it was years ago. I would have to say that yes, it was.
This particular location has carne asada fries which looked great (people at a table near us were eating them). My wife and I stuck with a couple of burgers with fries/​onion rings. The burgers were pretty good but are missing the charbroiled taste that I personally like. The fries and onion rings were great and not super greasy. And they do have some games to play along with a pool table and a TV (perfect for game day!).
This place is definitely worth coming back to!

Horrible service and all I ordered were curly fries and a few beers. I would give them no stars.

Come on Wednesday for Weevil Wednesday and get the famous Steerburger for $ 3.99! A lot of the staff that is working here has been here for a long time! Treat them well and they will do the same in return. A nice place to unwind down in IB with a soda or beer and nice burger or some hot wings. Two pool tables on site, arcade machines, jukebox– the works! 3 or 4 TVs to watch the game on too, Boll Weevil is a nice hidden little burger joint people sometimes forget about.

American classic burger and frys: this is the place! The place is no frills décor, old west pics give it a nice relaxed ambiance. Nachos are freshly made And tasty. Loadedbfrys are truly «loaded» and delicious. a taste of Americana. Friendly and attentive service tops it all off. Glad I found this place.

Drove here because it seemed like one of the few places left that had broasted chicken. Well you can scratch this one off the broasted chicken list — apparently they stopped it 2 years ago. The Steerburgers are still great but if you want broasted chicken, it has left the building.

Food is pretty good. I remember when they were all over the place in San Diego. This is a rather large location. I was surprised how big the inside is. They have two pool tables in back of the main restaurant, some video games by the front door, and a large open area on the other side for functions. They must do decent business to cover the rent on the square footage or they signed a really good lease many years ago.
I ordered the one pound steerburger which filled me up with a side of frings. The beef was a little overcooked but not by much. I enjoyed the frings but they were nothing to write home about. This is like a memory back to your childhood with decent food and decent service. With the proliferation of burger places around the county, there is nothing spectacular here but decent burgers and a decent place to eat out with friends and family. They offer different types of burgers for some variety and they have a kid menu. They also have some televisions to watch a game and several beers on tap.

My fiancée and I decided to stop in here with no knowledge of what to expect. There’s definitely a no frills décor, but that’s fine. As far as I’m concerned, restaurants are about the food.
And well, I can say that all of the food we had was delicious. It’s nothing life changing, but everything was fresh and tasty. There are also plenty of options so no matter what your tastes, there’s something there for you.
Wait staff was also very friendly and attentive wish is something I feel like is becoming more and more rare.
In all, I’m glad that we decided to roll the dice and grab a meal here.

Great place for classic burgers. You just can’t go wrong at this place. Burgers are always juicy, service is always friendly. This is your classic burger joint when you walk in this place will bring back memories of your youth. They have two different seating areas, ten beers on tap, a 2 pool tables some video games and a few tv’s

Pretty quiet place on a weekday afternoon.
The bacon burger with avocado was pretty good with fries.
Pretty clean. Although I didn’t get to see the bathroom stalls lol.
It took a while for the burger to come in though on that particular day but it was worth the wait… even though i hate waiting: P

I used love this place but then again that was fifteen years ago…
the food if you want to call it that is far from good and the service is pure shit .
well my server wasn’t the problem the issue was with what i could only gather as the «manager» this overweight monster of a woman wouldn’t stop talking and bitching about co workers and her home life, not only non stop but loud everyone in the dinning room could hear her. by the time i finished my overcooked monstrosity of a burger i knew far to much about Godzilla and couldn’t escape fast enough.

Nostalgia brought me back to Boll Weevil. My best friend and I would walk all the way down here after school for a burger and a milkshake. I didn’t get a milkshake this time but I tried their Jalapeño Burger. I liked the sauce they put on it but I’m glad that I asked for it on the side. It was really spicy and I don’t like my burgers soggy. I was able to douse my burger with sauce every time I thought it needed a little kick. The prices are reasonable and they even have lunch specials!
The service was great because my drink never went empty which is important when you are eating spicy foods. The waitress checked on us often even though her station was full… so that was greatly appreciated.
