5+ stars for Jared and Ariel. After visiting many malls and private jewelers, we went to Unilocal for help. We came across Brilliant Diamonds and gave these guys a visit and it became our last stop. They were nice and very informative. We got the ring of our dreams and within our budget, also saved us alot of money compared to other offers. Got my custom ring within a month. Proposed to my girlfriend the following month and she said «yes». Will definitely recommend them to everyone.

I believe that things happen for a reason and that some things are just meant to be. I first met Ariel 10 years ago when he was working at another jewelry store in San Diego and he treated me like family then, he taught me everything I know now about diamonds. But it was only happenstance that I was looking for an engagement ring last month and I found his new store on Unilocal.Browsing through the reviews, I saw his name pop up and when I viewed the pictures, I had found my old friend. So that following Monday, I called him up and paid a visit. It was like catching up with an old high school friend and we chatted for over 45 minutes before we even looked at a single piece of jewelry. When I found what I thought was the perfect ring, Ariel offered me to bring it home and show her to see if it was what she wanted but I didn’t want it to seem that I was proposing to her in our garage after a long day at work so I hastily called her and brought her into the store that same afternoon. Thank God I brought her because it wasn’t exactly what she wanted but she did find the one. The one she had been dreaming of and the one that she thought was going to get months down the line.
Ariel and Jared are professionals, as Ariel and I spoke about rush delivering, purchasing, and surprising my soon to be fiancée, Jared showed her the other rings in the showroom and completely distracted her as Ariel and I closed the deal. He personally called Tacori to get the ring rushed in order for me to receive it and make the perfect proposal. Needless to say, when I proposed to my future wife this past Saturday she was speechless and completely astonished. The ring and diamond were flawless but the service, professionalism and relationship I have with Ariel and Jared is priceless. I went to this establishment secondary to reading their positive reviews on Unilocal.I had two heirloom antique baguette diamonds that I wanted made into earrings for my little sister’s wedding gift. Shout out to Jared for advising me to create a beautiful necklace instead; considering the shape and size of the diamonds I presented. Jared was friendly and kept me up to date with the progress of our project. The jeweler worked quickly and perfectly, I had my final piece in about 10 days. Prices were competitive. I am happy with the service. I will return. Thanks for cleaning my engagement ring as well. I know my sister is going to absolutely love her necklace.

First of all, our apologies for taking so long for this review. Last December (2015), me and my girlfriend (now wife :)) were shopping for our engagement ring. We visited a couple of stores in the shopping malls — kay and other jewellers where we got some basic understanding about the 4 C’s of the diamond and how the price goes etc. However we were not sure if the money we will be spending is worth it as it was our first time shopping for diamonds. After reading some Unilocal reviews we decided to visit the family owned local business in San Diego and the first shop we stopped by was Brilliant diamonds. It was already late around 2:30 pm when we arrived there and it was December 31^st. We were not even sure if we will have the stores open or enough time to make a decision. Ariel was quick in noticing us wandering outside the store looking for Brilliant diamonds. He quickly greeted us and introduced himself and then took us in to show the collection. He made us feel really comfortable explaining us the diamond dynamics — 4Cs, cost etc. and also about the maintenance, services offered by the store. We discussed the budget clearly and Ariel was very helpful in providing us with multiple choices and explaining how to make tradeoffs on various aspects like clarity, certification, cut, carat and the ring material to get the design we love close to our budget. We finally decided on the ring after checking for more than 1 hour. I should mention he was very patient and also gave us the time and privacy to discuss between us with all those diamonds in front of us :). After the discussion with Ariel, we finally were convinced on which ring we want to get and we gave the order for my wife’s ring to be sized on the same day. He was also patient in showing another ring for myself. However I was not very prepared to get the ring for myself that day and also it was slightly above my budget. Honestly I think the ring Ariel showed me definitely was one of the best rings I have seen (specially with very few designs available for men). I would definitely prefer to get my future rings from Ariel. Its been 4 months and we definitely love the ring and thanks to Ariel for helping us. I would say even if you have another store in mind, just make a visit to this place and talk to Ariel. He will help you get the ring you love and give you the best price. I cannot recommend Brilliant Diamonds highly enough! My wife and I were getting frustrated with cheesy and pushy jewelers when we decided to check this place out ( Unilocal reviews led us here BTW). We’re both in our 40s, professionals and didn’t want to play games or get roped into some obligation. We just wanted to look. We were immediately impressed; not only with their selection, but their knowledge and attentiveness to our preferences. We started working with Jared who really impressed me immediately by paying attention and taking the time to learn about us and what we were looking for! They were patient and allowed us to design the rings we wanted, interjecting appropriate professional guidance.
Choosing a diamond is a maddening prospect to anyone. I felt pressured by other jewelers to seek out one type of diamond or another. Jared simply asked for basic parameters and started showing me diamonds that met my preferences. He was objective and let the «diamond choose me». He noticed accurately the I kept being drawn to a beautiful round diamond and he kept it available each time I went by. Ultimately, they helped us design a gorgeous engagement ring and 2 wedding bands. And, their prices were unbelievable and without pushy or aggressive negotiations!
On a personal note, Jared and Ariel became family in this process. Not only do they really know their stuff, they take a a personal interest in their customers. It’s such a friendly and intimate atmosphere they create; welcoming and professional.

Seriously can’t say enough about this place! My fiancé picked out my absolutely GORGEOUS engagement ring here and I couldn’t be happier with it!
My fiancé is very picky and told me that he went to Ariel several times to meet with him and get this ring perfect and each time he said that Ariel and the staff were patient, honest, and helpful. He went through many MANY pear shaped diamonds to find the right one and several Tacori bands which must have taken a good amount of time. Ariel and his staff were attentive and kind to him and made each visit a memorable one. I even went back after we got engaged to get my ring resized (it felt just a tad too big) and he greeted me with a hug and a warm smile.
They really go above and beyond to make this experience special and unique which is why this place deserves the 5 star rating! I will 100% be recommending this place to any friends or family looking to pick out engagement rings or any jewelry. And we will definitely be going back to get our wedding bands!

I absolutely love my tacori 1.5 oval diamond ring that my new fiancé surprised me with. Ariel at brilliant diamonds provided my bf a loaner setting while my ring was being made so he could propose on a trip we just took.
The shop is very cute and private on the 3^rd floor of the building in dt sd. So many beautiful tacori rings to pick from.
When picking up my final ring, Ariel and his partner were very professional and enthusiastic. They really make you feel excited and special. I definitely recommend any guy coming here for an engagement ring! I don’t know the price of my ring of course, but my fiancé said Ariel is very reasonable and much more affordable compared to the typical Robbins brothers jewelry stores.

UPDATE: Three years later…
We ended up getting my halo diamond earrings for my wedding, followed a few pearls set in earrings, then my anniversary ring.
They still are my fave to work with and are my local trusted jewelers! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! I’ve already referred a few of my closest friends! :)
They have great customer service and I like that i don’t feel like i’m dealing with a salesperson. Not to mention a few years later, they still treat me like I’m there for the first time.

Ariel is the best! I have gone into numerous jewelry stores at the mall and contacted a few referrals from friends. No other can compare to what Brilliant Diamonds has provided.
I was on a time constraint since I was going to New York in a few weeks with my fiancé and was planning to propose to her there. Ariel told me to come by after work and he would help me out. When my brothers and I came after work it was already closed but Ariel left it open after hours for us.
We first looked at bands and OMG was I overwhelmed. There were sooo many to choose from. With his expertise we narrowed it down to two rings and I chose the best one for my fiancé. The band had to be ordered but he did his magic to get the ring with a quick turnaround time.
He then explained the diamond 4C’s in detail and answered all my questions. He gave suggestions and I did not feel any pressure. I finally chose the best diamond.
