Our services include professional bartenders, a professional mobile bar and service staff. We work with our clients to customize themed events and full event production. We provide comprehensive mobile bar services for a diversity of special events & locations: Private, Indoor and Outdoor Venues, Country Clubs, Hotels, Festivals, Weddings, Grand Openings, Charity Events, the list goes on.

Our event specialists and mixologists will gladly help you design a custom menu for your event or party.

Dependent upon the number of guests attending your event, additional bartenders, bar-​backs, and cocktail servers may be required. We include the use of our beautiful mobile bar at no additional charge.

Since opening the doors in 2011, Build Your Own Bar has become the premier mobile bartending service in San Diego, LA, and Orange County. We work with our clients to customize themed events and full event production. We pride ourselves on our professionalism and innovative style.

Business Owner

It all started in 1999, ago in a little Mexican restaurant in Redondo Beach, named Casa Pulido. This is where the founder and owner of Build Your Own Bar, Ryan started bartending and discovered his passion for the craft. A short time later, Ryan started bartending banquet events at the classic Queen Mary in Long Beach.

In 2002, Ryan moved to San Diego. Since then he has gained extensive experience bartending private events. He has had the pleasure of working with organizations such as the San Diego Symphony, NuVasive, Gepetto’s Toys, and Red Bull air races, just to name a few. Ryan’s love for bartending continued to grow.

We are proud to say that we have an amazing team, and we all share a passion for this business. Our dedication to provide a unique and exemplary experience for our clients continues to motivate us. We truly love what we do.

This review is LONG overdue. BYOB bartended my wedding In October and I can’t begin to say enough good things about this company. Gina was our main contact/​bartender and she was absolutely fabulous. We booked BYOB about a little over a year in advance and they answered all of my questions over that period of time. Any question I had they answered promptly and completely and never made me feel as if I were taking too much of their time. They walked through all of my numerous ideas and offered the experience to help guide me in the right directions. Throughout the process they were always very cost conscious and made sure to get the best deals on insurance, cups, ice and even helped guide me to the best prices when I was purchasing the alcohol. They were there right on time for the wedding and cleaned up quickly and completely at the end of the night. As for the service during the wedding there was never a long line and they were so friendly. After the wedding so many of my guests asked about the recipes for the drinks and commented on how nice and fast the bartenders were. If I ever need to hire a bar again I know exactly where to go. Thank you BYOB for helping make my wedding a day I’ll never forget.

I booked Ryan for our 10÷17÷15 wedding at Red Barn Ranch. He answered all my questions timely and patiently. He arrived on time, set up all the alcohol and chilled what we had brought. I requested the wood bar and it looked great on site. He made drinks timely without a wait.

BYOB is killer !! They do such a great job and one of the most competitive prices out there. If you are looking to supply your own alcohol and you need a bartender. We definitely would recommend BYOB. They were really great. We had some issues with the bartenders but. came to find out the bartenders were actually great and it was our coordinator who was the problem. They worked through the nightmare she was and got the job done. :)
So, if you are looking for a great company to make your guests great drinks, have great customer service, and just overall keep your guests happy — this is the way to go. :)

BYOB is the best thing ever! We had the freedom to create our own drink menu. I got to provide my own alcohol under my budget and they took care of the rest. Gina was awesome! Kept the line moving and the drinks flowing. We were able to save so much money and on top of that provide an open bar throughout the entire wedding reception. We had Ryan come out for our open bar wedding. He was extremely patient throughout the booking process in helping me decide how much liquor to buy, where to buy it, and in getting all the necessary paperwork for our venue. He took the job on relatively short notice and when our sudden change in start time conflicted with another job he had in the morning, he found a way to make it work. I didnt get to spend too much time at the bar, but we heard nothing but compliments from our guests. Lastly, when our venue threw a ‘no shot’ policy at him he found some quick and creative ways to work around it to keep our venue and our guests happy. Would book again without a doubt.

Gina mixes an amazing cocktail. Isn’t that the most important part of these bartender reviews AND I never read that! She’s extremely knowledgeable and is everything you would expect from a bartender. I searched far and wide (on Unilocal!) for a perfect bartender and I couldn’t be happier with my choice in Build Your Own Bar.
What impressed me in my initial conversation was her creativity and her ability to see the vision for what I wanted my guests to experience. She was able to make drink recommendations quickly and actually knew the recipes of each drink she suggested, unlike others I spoke to. She even took on the challenge of making a Margarita using my recipe and the drink she concocted was exquisite. The recipe calls for Tequila, Agave Nectar and Lime Juice, a must try for cocktail and Margarita Lovers. I didn’t know the amounts of each ingredient but she was able to create and re-​create an amazing drink all night. A true bartender.
While tending the bar and mixing all the popular drinks you can think of both came easy to her, so did servicing, entertaining and mingling with my guests. Gina is so unbelievably personable and she goes out of her way to make sure you’re happy.
From the very beginning communication with Gina was excellent. She gave us a shopping list of everything we would need to stock our bar and I mean everything, down to the type of cups, cherry’s and olives. She arrived early and set-​up everything! At the end of the night the entire bar and area surrounding the bar was cleaned and left over items were organized for easy storage.
Think about how important your event is and how many times you’ve been to a wedding, restaurant or special occasion and have been so disappointed in the bar service. Now think about the best bartender you’ve ever had and this is where Gina and Build Your Own Bar are ranked. Amazing.

We hired Ryan for our wedding and were not disappointed! Bringing in our own alcohol to saved us money as we weren’t up charged from a bar package. We were able to make up our own specialty drinks with our own personal names… it gave our wedding more personality and meaning. I used Ryan’s services for a party and he was wonderful. The option of providing garnish, cups, ice, and the custom built bar was awesome. I hired Ryan for our wedding and he did an awesome job. He started helping us by performing an hour long consultation not just for the bar portion of the wedding but gave me some great advice based on successful weddings he has observed in the past. Ryan did a bang up job for our 2011 outdoor 90 degree pool party. Who knew exactly what to do when he arrived and got the bar ready in about 30 minutes.
We had a large thirsty party which Ryan handled with skill and everyone was very complementary of his margaritas.
The party ran way past the allotted time and Ryan was flexible with staying late to accommodate the guest.

I’ve worked at several Events with Ryan from Build Your Own Bar and he’s always punctual, professional and highly attentive to the guests! I had met Ryan & his crew at an outdoor wedding I was helping «coordinate» a few months back. The wedding was large with 300 guests in attendance. The couple I was working with had contracted Ryan Rodrigues of Build Your Own Bar Services. This was my first time working with his company.
Ryan’s presence as the bartendar was immediately acknowledged when he pulled up with his equipment, jumped out of his truck and asked, «Where will I be setting up?». Without hesitation, Ryan and his crew went straight to work. After a brief & efficient set-​up, he came over and asked what can he help us with!
I observed his bar service every chance I had. The guests were happy and his crew served up drinks non-​stop! He even kept me informed of how much bar product we had. Because of this, we even had time to send someone to get more ice.
